Dusty was a fantastic artist. I was lucky enough to meet her in the 80s at a hotel and we had a hilarious evening of drinks and laughs. She was a delight and so down to earth. She adored animals and had a number of rescued cats when she lived on a barge in Holland!
She lived in Utrecht for a while, which is in the province of Utrecht, not Holland 😉 There are 2 Hollands in the Netherlands by the way: North-Holland and South-Holland. 😁
Definitely one of my favorite singers. She was one of the greatest singers ever and was inducted into the R & R Hall of Fame. I only Wanna be With You and a Brand New Me are incredible also. Real name is Mary Katherine O'Brien. RIP dear MARY!
She is a blue'eyed soul songstress. She, the Righteous Brothers and others fall into this rare group of blue-eyed soul". Yes the words are desperate, as she recovers from abandonment. But so often men flee from love vecause they fear it. Bless the guy who learns to surrender to love in his heart. Bless the woman who faces abandonment with courageous surrender. The answer is always surrender. ❤
Not surprised you think you've heard it somewhere, it's one of the great classics. Powerful rendition of it here by Dusty. She could certainly deliver a song.
Glad you are doing more of Dusty's songs. This is one of the great British female singers from the 60's. She had such a beautiful unique voice & covered many genres (blue-eyed soul, pop ,ballads, country, jazz). She had a lot of hits such as "I Only Want To Be With You", "I'll Try Anything", "You Don't Have To Say You Love Me", "Wishin' & Hopin' ", "The Look Of Love", "The Windmills Of Your Mind", "Son Of A Preacher Man", "I Just Don't Know What To Do With Myself" & many more.
Be thankful that you have discovered one of the most significant talents ever. She left a treasure trove of incredible songs, most of which her fans never heard but which provide a world of exquisite listening pleasure. An unparalleled talent that defies adequate description & praise. Enjoy....
After Karen Carpenter passed away Richard Carpenter teamed up with Dusty and they recorded a song called Something in Your Eyes. You should check it out. In my mind I can hear Karen singing it, but Dusty does a great job.
Dusty and Cilla Black were my favorite female singers back then ! I visited Dusty's grave site in a church yard in Henley on Thames. She was only 59 years old
The original version of this song is Italian. Dusty Springfield heard it while attending a festival in Italy and was moved to tears by it even though she did not understand the lyrics. Her friends, Vicki Wickham and Simon Napier Bell wrote the English lyrics although these have nothing to do with the original Italian lyrics. Many people have recorded this song but Dusty's is the best. Her voice is full of melodrama as well as being so soulful. Truly one of the greatest female voices/performers ever!
I was in high school in Randolph when this song came out and she had a beautiful voice. Thankfully I’m a tenor and was able to cruise the strip in my 1960 Impala convertible while belting out a duet with Dusty. She was fabulous! Why do the greatest ones pass away all too quickly?
I'm loving every minute of it! Dusty my love, you truly filled my childhood with fond memories and lovely dreams! Every time I hear her voice it brings back days I spent with my dearly departed Mama! Thanks for the song and reaction Harri. Always makes my day! Regards to you my friend Harri.
Glorious, as always - greatly missed. As the years go by since her death, it is possible that you forget just how exceptional her voice was. This really is wonderful.
She Was Beautiful, Sassy, And Absolutely Gorgeous! No One In The Whole World Could Belt Out A Song Like Dusty Springfield! Mary Isobel Catherine Bernadette O’ Brien! RIP 1939- 1999!
My favorite female singer! Dusty knew how to deliver a message, 60’s - 80’s she had so many songs, one made it on aJames Bond movie (1967?). She died too soon 💔😢🇬🇧
great song and a great reaction. This song was a comfort to me when I was going through the same type of relationship in this song..... thankfully I am older and wiser now!
Thank you Harri. You are always a class act and show concern for others. I pray the rest of this year is everything you desire and the new year will bring you everything you need and want in your life. Peace ✌.
Stupendous Harri. There is another good one J I ust Don't Know what to Do With myself from Dusty that I always bracket with this one. They are both similarly grat.
"Io che non vivo (senza te)" by Pino Donaggio. It was first released in 1965 by Donaggio. Dusty covered it in 1966 and had her biggest hit with it. Elvis later did a cover of it as well.
San Remo 1965, Jody Miller sang it first, and is my favorite version. Dusty Springfield was in the audience, returned to the USA and recorded the English version, zoom! #1 hit .
You nailed it my friend, I guess my pride would take over my heart break… I was probably 14 or 15 thereabouts when that song was popular, and my heart with soon find out❤️🥲
One of the greatest singers ever and one of the greatest songs ever! Loved her voice. A Brand New Me wasn't one of her biggest hits but I love it. Also like Linda Ronstadt does covers as good or better than the original. One example Don't make me Over by Dionne Warwick.
Elvis did a cover of this in his "Vegas" era live shows ca 1969/70. perhaps you heard it from that. He had a single out on this I think. the common "Too short" can be interpreted as good showmanship as in "Always leave them wanting more."
Hi Harry I understand loneliness is a horrible things so some people choose to stay with someone that doesn't love them because of the hurt that loneliness causes have a Happy New Year you and your family god bless stay well and I hope you prosper
Harry I know that you like Sinatraif you want to hear a song that is absolutely perfect for him please react to the song drinking again it will blow you away

Harry, Io che non vivo (senza te) è un brano musicale di Pino Donaggio, cantante italiano con testo di Vito Pallavicini. La canzone ebbe grande successo in Italia, e nel mondo vendendo oltre 80 milioni di copie
Elvis had a hit with this also, and his version is Wonderful and Powerful. Love both versions. Here is the King from 1970 from the documentary "Elvis: That's the Way It Is" performing this great song: th-cam.com/video/U914MUX1uoc/w-d-xo.html
The orchestra here is a bit overbearing, but Springfield is such a powerhouse that her singing is able to overcome this. And of course I love the album Dusty in Memphis. Stellar production. It includes one of her best interpretations of a song, “No Easy Way Down,” written by Gerry Goffin and Carole King. Talk about sad…
I've always thought that this song sounds a lot like the song from the movie Grease that Stockard Channing sang called There Are Worse Things I Would Do of course Dusty sang this song a lot better than that song but I think the songwriters were influenced by this song a lot in the structure of it and sound too
Dusty was a fantastic artist. I was lucky enough to meet her in the 80s at a hotel and we had a hilarious evening of drinks and laughs. She was a delight and so down to earth. She adored animals and had a number of rescued cats when she lived on a barge in Holland!

Yeah roterrdam is in South Holland Amsterdam North Holland and there's limburg zeeland etc
One of the most beautiful femail voices. She has so many classics. 💕💕🎶🎶👍
Definitely one of my favorite singers. She was one of the greatest singers ever and was inducted into the R & R Hall of Fame. I only Wanna be With You and a Brand New Me are incredible also. Real name is Mary Katherine O'Brien. RIP dear MARY!
One of the greatest soul singers.
This is live and no lip synching, she does a great job and close to studio version
This was a huge hit in the 60’s. I love her voice. Her songs were often quite sad 😢 Nice reaction🌺✌️
I have noticed she was very good at the use of gestures in her live performances. If I ever do karaoke I will be borrowing them :-)
She'd be flattered.
Just beautiful. In an age before autotune was invented a singular voice, one for the ages.
I always get goosebumps when she rises to the chorus the first time. Beautiful song!
Love her. Rest in peace. She is my all time favorite female singer. This song is her best. Love it.
Not surprised you think you've heard it somewhere, it's one of the great classics. Powerful rendition of it here by Dusty. She could certainly deliver a song.
Vocals so sultry, so silky - you nailed it. Dusty was one of my favorites, too.
You said it all when you said she has so much soul !
Glad you are doing more of Dusty's songs. This is one of the great British female singers from the 60's. One of my all time favorites. I would be saying I love you and I would be close at hand.
Originally a 1965 italian song from Sanremo Festival...."Io che non vivo (senza te)" by Pino Donaggio. Dusty Springfield...just wonderful !!!
I've never heard of her she has a beautiful voice...
I used listen to that song on an oldies radio station K Earth 101 in California.
Be thankful that you have discovered one of the most significant talents ever. She left a treasure trove of incredible songs, most of which her fans never heard but which provide a world of exquisite listening pleasure. An unparalleled talent that defies adequate description & praise. Enjoy....
I adored Dusty when I watched her as a boy in the Sixties. Shirley Bassey had the same effect. They were just so glamorous and…….what voices!
She had such a great voice, I loved pretty much everything she sang. My favorite is "Wishin and Hopin"
Unbelievably powerful song I remember from when I was little. What a voice!
After Karen Carpenter passed away Richard Carpenter teamed up with Dusty and they recorded a song called Something in Your Eyes. You should check it out. In my mind I can hear Karen singing it, but Dusty does a great job.
I think this was her best song. Her voice is amazingly haunting.
Belt it out Ms Springfield! Iconic
This one is my favourite of Dusty
Dusty and Cilla Black were my favorite female singers back then ! I visited Dusty's grave site in a church yard in Henley on Thames. She was only 59 years old

One of my favorite ❤ songs and loved her voice and style. 👍
After this performance my mother always thought that Dusty would be very good in the police directing traffic at a road junction.
Or semaphore flag waving ....
I've always loved this song.
OMG love this song! I was teenager when this song came out! Love her! 💖
I was in high school in Randolph when this song came out and she had a beautiful voice.
Thankfully I’m a tenor and was able to cruise the strip in my 1960 Impala convertible while belting out a duet with Dusty. She was fabulous! Why do the greatest ones pass away all too quickly?
Oh Harri!! You hit on the head with this one! Mine and my husband's favorite Dusty rendition!! Love You!
Dusty a great singer. She could sing anything pop, soul, folk and jazz. She was a pioneer for Motown in the 60s.
Blue eyed soul at her best
I'm loving every minute of it! Dusty my love, you truly filled my childhood with fond memories and lovely dreams! Every time I hear her voice it brings back days I spent with my dearly departed Mama! Thanks for the song and reaction Harri. Always makes my day! Regards to you my friend Harri.
Beautiful! She was a great singer!
This is live on the BBC too.
The summer of 1966.
A beautiful song for a beautiful year.
Man o man does that take me back to the time when love was so simple
Beautiful song. Powerful voice. Rest in peace 🙏
My favorite female singer! Dusty knew how to deliver a message, 60’s - 80’s she had so many songs, one made it on aJames Bond movie (1967?). She died too soon 💔😢🇬🇧

Thank you Harri for reminding me of Dusty and her beautiful voice and songs.
Oh man one of the most beautiful somgs and performances ever. Thanks.
Thanks Hari. This is my all time favorite song. Dusty heard this sung in italian and had English lyrics composed for it.
Loved Dusty songs. Unfortunately, she had a tough life, even though it wasn't very long. Her sadness shows in her music.
RIP 💕 Dusty Springfield. She is a awesome singer, dancer, guitar player, story teller. 💜💙💚💛🧡❤🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵 Thank you Harri. 😊
Loved her voice.
Love this song I believe it was originally an Italian song
"Io che non vivo (senza te)" by Pino Donaggio. It was first released in 1965 by Donaggio. Dusty covered it in 1966 and had her biggest hit with it. Elvis later did a cover of it as well.
@@John_Chu thank you I couldn’t remember the original title of the song
The best to ever sing this song.
Harri,. This is one of my favorites of hers. 💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕
If you like Dusty, you owe it to yourself to review her live performance of Wishin' and Hopin' with Martha Reeves and the Vandellas.
And her entire catalog that defies adequate description....unbelievable talent.
Love Dusty !!!
A favorite!
San Remo 1965, Jody Miller sang it first, and is my favorite version. Dusty Springfield was in the audience, returned to the USA and recorded the English version, zoom! #1 hit .
Songs back then we're limited to 3 minutes.
Beautiful voice, a female crooner if you will. Great reaction
The songs of the 60s and 70s were written with radio in mind. John Lennon once said that the ideal length of a song (for radio) was 2 minutes.
Have been waiting for this ❤️
Makes me cry like a baby trying to fill that hole with tears, but the hole is never filled.
Great gestures.
Nice reaction Harri.
When ELVIS recorded KENTUCKY RAIN ,in Tennessee She was recording also....,🌟🙏
You nailed it my friend, I guess my pride would take over my heart break… I was probably 14 or 15 thereabouts when that song was popular, and my heart with soon find out❤️🥲
Fantastic song
I’m glad you said that about people being desperate.. I know the music was so good back then but so many songs about desperation back then !!!!
Dusty was the second best singer we had at the time, I say second because top female singer has to be Shirley Bassey.
Dionne never cover this song. But I can imagine it will sound golden if she covers it.
' Yesterday when I was young ' please Harri.
Roy Clark does it best.
Dusty's cover of "Yesterday When I Was Young" is impeccable & stunningly beautiful.
One of the greatest singers ever and one of the greatest songs ever! Loved her voice. A Brand New Me wasn't one of her biggest hits but I love it. Also like Linda Ronstadt does covers as good or better than the original. One example Don't make me Over by Dionne Warwick.
Lurv Dusty ... :) If you cover Dusty, then you should do Cilla Black and Petula Clarke who were of the same era, peers and icons. :)
Elvis did a cover of this in his "Vegas" era live shows ca 1969/70. perhaps you heard it from that. He had a single out on this I think. the common "Too short" can be interpreted as good showmanship as in "Always leave them wanting more."
She could really sing. I also truly love Elvis’ version in 1970.
Legend! Have You heard "Rose Garden" by Lynn Anderson, or "Sweet City Woman" by the Stampeeders?
Wow
It's a famous Italian opera song
Hi Harry I understand loneliness is a horrible things so some people choose to stay with someone that doesn't love them because of the hurt that loneliness causes have a Happy New Year you and your family god bless stay well and I hope you prosper
Harry I know that you like Sinatraif you want to hear a song that is absolutely perfect for him please react to the song drinking again it will blow you away
Hey Bro listen to I only want to be with you. That's a Great song too.
I’m 16 again❤
Check out my link of her and Pet Shop Boys from 80's!!!! She reinvented herself..iconic song!! Pets hope boys did "West End Girls " in 80's omgosh huge huge hit!!
Harry, Io che non vivo (senza te) è un brano musicale di Pino Donaggio, cantante italiano con testo di Vito Pallavicini. La canzone ebbe grande successo in Italia, e nel mondo vendendo oltre 80 milioni di copie
Brilliant they definitely don't make songs like this anymore
Elvis had a hit with this also, and his version is Wonderful and Powerful. Love both versions. Here is the King from 1970 from the documentary "Elvis: That's the Way It Is" performing this great song: th-cam.com/video/U914MUX1uoc/w-d-xo.html
But you're right Harri. Dusty shouldn't be desperate for any guy to love her. I say screw the heartless bastard. Or better still, don't screw him.
I love this song, but the background music is too loud.
Can you react to Cilla Black singing You’re My World plz
Do you only take requests from your patrons ?
The orchestra here is a bit overbearing, but Springfield is such a powerhouse that her singing is able to overcome this.
And of course I love the album Dusty in Memphis. Stellar production. It includes one of her best interpretations of a song, “No Easy Way Down,” written by Gerry Goffin and Carole King. Talk about sad…
I've always thought that this song sounds a lot like the song from the movie Grease that Stockard Channing sang called There Are Worse Things I Would Do of course Dusty sang this song a lot better than that song but I think the songwriters were influenced by this song a lot in the structure of it and sound too
I used to think it was the same song too. I wonder if that’s what he is thinking.
Check out Elvis' version of this song!
Elvis did this too
The backing is far too loud and intrusive but Dusty is wonderful,
