To be clear, I was one of a dozen camera angles the director was using and by no means was I ever supposed to be the sole camera as shown here. I have a director telling me where to be and if you watch the full races you’ll see I’m used for a few seconds at a time.
So when I switch drivers or pop up and look around it’s to help give him and myself a chance to get a feel for what’s going on or to try and figure out directions I’ve been given.
Anyways, just realize this is not how the race is for the actual broadcast and the drone is not the live cam 100% of the time so a lot of what you see is me positioning myself for the director to use as the live cam. Enjoy!
Its actually SO cool to see the whole race through your perspective!! It gives me the URGE to go buy a drone and do this myself lol. ITS insane when you get a few feet away from the car 🤯 I love it ❤️🔥

So more more exiting to watch with the drone footage, which did a great job, despite once losing the cars when switching the 2nd place car at the shortcut.

With that said, full credit to the drone operator for those close in shots.
Yeah, static shots worked phenomenally for GRC.
Drone operator chimed in and said this isn't what goes to broadcast, he's just one of many camera feeds that get swapped between.
The camera is something new, I have to admit it... But it needs to be balanced on car spotting and viewing the track... As that is an important view for the viewers. A mixed between classic cameras stage managers and this drone views would be appreciated

If they had mixed this with static shots it would've been a beauty giving time for the drone pilot to find the other cars and also gives us the ability to know whats happening with the other cars and not just chasing one car throughout most of the race regardless phenomenal footage!

everything about this race is wild. None of this existed 20 years ago. Not the cars, not the drones, the cameras, or the track. If electric cars have a place in the world, it's short course heat racing... so they have time to charge.

My god drone pilots doing spins while we're trying to watch something is so off-putting.
There's like 7 other drone cameras filming at the same time. When you watch the race live, the director switches between the different camera shots to show different parts of the race.
It wasn't really ever meant to be seen from beginning to end...

I love the EV whine. Completely different from any combustion engine. It's kinda brutal imo. I wish manufacturers would juat lean into the noises that EV's CAN make naturally instead of poorly mimicking combistion engines. I feel like that would be cool. Not the same, not better, just different.

This is the worst camera I have seen on anything, no joke, no punchline, this sucks. A great race that just looks like RC cars. Way too close and way too much movement, they can't keep it viewable and are just trying to check boxes. This sucks. We need to do better than this or motorsports will never get a new viewer and will die immediately. Cool new stuff and it's packaged with garbage cameras to save a buck. Awful visual. I'm gonna go puke.
