The judging literally made zero sense here. Strong does a frontflip no hander, hands of quickly and under rotates, takes the lead... Adelberg does the same trick, longer hands off and doesn't under rotate... takes second? Then Strong does it even worse and gets more points!? Then Rob throws it down as hard as he can, full extension and hands off for about as long as you can... and still they put him in second by .33. The favouritism is obvious.

Judging has been off this whole xgames, Strong himself seemed surprised he won. Adelbergs second run had big extension, hands off for a long duration and a buttery smooth landing. It would be interesting to see their judging criteria as it didn't seem to match with what the judges were stating

    • @TheSlider6997

Jackson comes out of his tuck to throw the hands in the air along with his head which makes it wayyyyyy more difficult. Watch Robs run again he stays tucked in the flip the whole time. Sorry but Strong WINS!!

It's hard to watch anymore. I mean, I'm not taking it for granted that we're actually seeing all these fronts & double backs - but christ does it get boring. When FMX is literally down to slowmo frame by frame replays to decide by 1/3rd of a point... I mean, it used to be obvious who won best trick before, because no one was doing the same thing, and a few people were brining actual INNOVATION.

FMX at X-games is basically a giant bilboard for sponsors these days. Also, it kind of feels like fmx reached it's peak and is a slowly dying genre of motocross. I mean, if it all comes down to if you looked forward or downward in a frontflip, it's not a spectators sport anymore. It should be big f*cking sends, long stretches, holding those extensions until you're an inch from the ground. Last true innovator in the sport in my opinion was Tom Pagés. It's sad though...oh well, I'll watch bmx instead 👍🏻

My first time watching motorsports and I kinda felt like that first trick that japanese guy did by completely letting go of the cycle and backflipping was definitely the coolest.
I saw that the guys who came in first and second were looking at their bikes while doing the trick so that was probably harder but tbh not very cool looking.

Was this from this year or any of the last 5? Also when I was young they at least tried to hide the ludicrous judging decisions but this was just blatant! 🤷‍♂️

Fmx is getting boring every year. Just do double backflip or frontflip then you get 90+ points.

Is it just be or did the guy that got 2nd place do the trick way cleaner than the first place winner???

    Honestly this has become boring.
    Backflip variation
    Front flip variation
    Double backflip variation
That’s about it. And there’s barely anyone there watching. I think freestyle has reached its ceiling and won’t be a mainstay at x-games much longer. We’ve seen it all a hundred times.

It's such a bummer too, FMX always took over at X Games because it was the most gnarly & exciting thing happening. Now it's just guessing what the judges are in the mood to see and hoping you chose the right trick.

@@RyTrapp0 I agree, it’s a shame. There’s just not much more these guys can do. Sure someone did a triple backflip but that’s not something that can be done regularly. It’s way too dangerous. I think the only joe for a refresher is a change of course, they need to get creative with the jumps and obstacles. The course layout needs a total revamp.

I’m really mad I just watched all that harry bink should have won beautifully executed trick. I really hate seeing the same trick win competitions over and over switch it up.

X needs a refresh on just about everything. Courses, half the athletes, and broadcast. The old broadcasts were mini movies with the athletes. Now its a lot of dead air and the popular riders in the back of the pack doing the same tricks for the last 10 years.

Listen first off, what these guys do is mental. That being said the level of progression is kinda stagnent last few years both these guys have been doing the same trick for the past three years.

Let me explain to everyone why I believe Jacko beat Rob here despite many people's objections, because I actually agree with the judges LOL
On the first runs, yes Rob's was a little longer, but Jacko took his off earlier. When doing finite judging like this, things like that are very important. Length of the hands off doesn't matter as much as WHEN it gets done, because when you do an additive like that earlier, it means less setup, which means more danger. That means Jacko got himself ready to let go FASTER than Rob did, and so can make the variation earlier. Also, doing a no hand extension also affects your rotation itself, and the earlier it is done, the more it can affect it. Hence why they scored Jacko stronger.
Run 2 is even closer, even though they scored the difference the same, by .33 🤣 but Jacko did clean up the trick a little and hold it longer but he also did something that actually greatly, in the sense of fine tune judging, affects his score. He looked out, meaning he unlocked his head. This MAXIMIZES the danger of the trick because the hands itself already can affect it, but your HEAD affects your rotation more than anything, because it affects your entire body with it, which makes more risk. Example? Because he sticks his head out, he stuck his back out a little more too, which adds even MORE resistance to his rotation, which on a frontflip can be devastating. Hence his score.
Rob's variation was longer AND cleaner, which is why I believe it got back so close. Had he not done it that well, I think the gap would have been much wider, like 1 whole point or more LOL but because he didn't add any extra element of danger or anything else, I understand why they didn't put him over Jacko.....
