Josh I can only speak for California on truck route law and rules but a lot of it is interchangeable. But I will tell you how I fight them Initially with the cop or the commercial enforcement agency that pulled you overand 95% of the time have gotten out of them.
In California the law states that you must use the truck route at all times. You are allowed to deviate from the truck route if you have business to conduct that requires you to deviate from the truck route. Example of this is delivering a dumpster to a residential house that is not on a truck route.
As long as you have a invoice or what they will refer to as a "bill of landing" you can deliver that dumpster and transport it on a non desonated truck route.
So if I or one of my drivers gets pulled over and the reason that they get pulled over is for not being on a truck route we always tell the lawforcement officer that we are delivering or conducting business right around the corner so it requires us to deviate from the marked truck route and 95% of the time they never even ask for proof and they just let us go.
Yea that’s the way I think it is. No thru traffic but if you can prove you have a reason to be in there, then that’s ok. I guess

I’m a mechanic for international that is a known Issue with the QLS in the DEF tank may want to check with your local international dealer. They can check VIN and see if it warranty.

You can’t use a road that isn’t approved for trucks as a thoroughfare if your destination is on that road then it’s ok unless there is an axle weight limit (usually in spring time )
Soo many roads that don't allow trucks. Never noticed it before, never had a reason to either lol
