    Changed my fuel filter on seat ibiza then got an air lock as a result of this, bled all the injectors and back up and running! Thank you wouldnt have been able to do it without this video

    Thank you 🙏🙏. I have a Mercedes Vito and I was reluctant to take it to the garage but looking everywhere online and couldn't figure it out from any Mercedes forums. Came across your vid and I couldn't see any bubbles in the lines so I decided to take the injectors out. Ticked the engine over a few times. Put it all back together and boom! Starts first time no problem at all 🙏 thank you!

    Thank you. I have this exact engine 2.0 HDiF in my Peugeot Expert 2009. I'm going to try to release the pipes one by one. I'm not scared anymore to just try and see what happens. I worry that I might break something but your video gave me confidence to follow the path of the diesel and observe. No panic. Thank you.

    Hi,
    I have a 2004 Citroen C5, 2.0L Hdi, was running fine for three weeks after a new fuel filter, checked all fuses-all ok, battery good. No fuel/water coming from water drain at bottom of fuel filter.
    Disconnected fuel lines, no fuel coming through, engines cranks but no fuel coming out of fuel lines, tank is half full.
    Checked top of fuel tank, lines all connected, no leaks.
    At a DIY loss.....
    I'm glad l found this channel. I'm mad about my Citroen too!

      Hi mate I would try to prime with a prime bulb to see if any fuel gonna start to come out. Nice to hear there is more French car Enthusiasts out there.

      ​@@colinm1325I think you are able to prime the ones eithout the bulb by switching on the ignition to the first setting for ten seconds or so, then off, then repeat a couple of times. It should self prime.

      Thanks 4 th reply Nicki. Mine doesn't have a priming bulb, just need to cycle the key, x10 times, as the elec pump primes the system. The closest actual Citroen dealer is no help unfortunately.
      I finally got it sorted by a bit of fault finding.
      Do you know why or where oil would be coming from that makes its way into, then drips out of the intercooling piping?
      Turbo seals maybe? Doesn't seem to be smoking out the tail pipe.
      Kind Regards for your help or thoughts.

    I have a BMW E91 and seems that the 2 tanks build the air in the system when you put fuel in tank to fast.
    Sometimes i have this problem and for sure i take breakcleaner with me on the road in case of trouble.
    What you have to do is spray the breakcleaner into the airfilter or inlet for give the low presure on the rail a better boost in the cylinder.
    Do that a few times when starting the car and the system wil work again.
    And yes when you are running out of fuel make sure that you put the fuel slowly into the tank and dont rush.
    But you have to bleed the air out of the system anyway like this guy doing

    Next time all you have to do is to unclip the return hose on the high pressure line, which is the green clip above your fuel filter and bleed the air via a hand or a mechanical pump.
    But its awsome to see your resolution process. Excellent work👍

      Thankyou mate i am aware of fuel return clips. The thing is i have bad experience with them breaking inside injectors and also little o ring seal then most of the time needs to be changed as it leaks on reinstalation. Thankyou for your comment mate i glad you like it

    Same engine on the ford focus tdci. What I did was disconnecting the fuel return line then pressurize the fuel tank via the return line so that air pressure in the tank will force the fuel back up the fuel feed line into the filter all the way back out the fuel return line again to clear any air locks.

    Just the job going to try this as i have similar fault 2.0 engine. Tries to start but nothing beyond that. I changed filter and bled system but still not working so will be trying this. Fingers crossed 🤞

    Thank you for this easy to follow video. I most probably have the same air problem on my Peugeot 807 2.0 hdi. # different mechanics sugest the same to me on phone. I will try this procedure and tell you again if it resolve the problem :)

    great video for priming the fuel ,,but what a lot of people do not realize is that the primer bulb has a non return valve inside it .which if it fails then you will always get to much air in the system and a no start ,a replacement bulb is cheap enough all they have to remember it is a 8mm fitting as there are different sizes for the bulb connector

IF YOU HAVE ANY OTHER DIESELS (HONDA IDEALLY AS I HAVE A 2005 HONDA CRV 2.2 DIESEL WHICH IS GIVING ME HUGE HEADACHES) I WOULD LOVE TO SEE MORE STARTING ISSUE FIXES.     Great video. I have similary problem. Same.engine just mondeo mk4. Problem is that i have crank no start. I bleed the system and change hpfp with refurbished one but for now i dont have luck to start. I bleed inlet fuel hose, and after that outlet fuel hose. All fuel hoses are full of diesel but unable to start...

      @@BeArtchgood luck mate its not a huge job but sometimes these intake manifolds are full of suit like stuff and is a good practice to clean all that out so it can breath better.

    Maybe not stupid question but recently happened 407 2hdi starts like nothing but around 20km locks it from starting until engine temp goes down to 70 celsius

    I have very similar problem. Hopefully I can use your method.
    This happened to me while driving on a road and just lose power. But I had full fuel tank.

      @@Mad4FrenchCars today I made those steps from your video. Fuel goes through fuel filter and goes through this pipe into engine. I undid those 4 bolts and tried to pump fuel throug steel pipes into injector, but fuel not coming on this step.

      Hi mate if your car doesn't have one then my guess is you probably have a Ford with psa engine if so then it would explain why it doesn't have one. Most of peogeot and Citroen cars have prime bulb as a standard. Ford's for example with same engine like 1.6tdci wich is basicly 1.6hdi don't have that prime bulb. Same with some 2.0hdi and tdci engines. Exactly same engines but ford's don't have a prime bulb. If you have a Peugeot or citroen then I am not sure if you don't have one as normally one is always there

    Hello, I changed the injectors now (also coded) After starting, everything seemed ok, but when I connected the diagnostics and looked at the data, I also got the error P0215 (Injection system power relay circuit /1-stage) and P0204 (Injection valve control of cylinder 4. The connector is also cleaned and I pressed the plates in it together a little. No change. When I turn the key to the first position, something clicks. The start is fine, but when I turn it off, something buzzes more noticeably for about a second. I'm not running the car yet

    Hi ! I just watched your video and I was wondering if you could help me with any opinion. I have Peugeot308 2.0Hdi , last three months it is having problems with starting up, I have been to many mechanics but nothing… I ordered original fuel pipes with the prime bulb and changed them from the tank to the fuel filter. The car starts at the second or third try, once it starts if I turn it off it start perfectly, but if the car stays parked for lets say 4 hours it won’t start again… please give me any advice because I am desperate , i spend a lot of money on mechanics already… 🙏🏻

      Sounds like it could be a slow leak from fuel return line somethere. Or egr is clogged a bit and doesnt shut fully. Cars strugle to start with egr open. But if a hot car starts well then fuel related i would say i would check for a fuel on fuel return pipes and connectors

      Hi, I have this problem with 2011 2.0L Citroen.
      Did you get it fixed ??
      … hard start when engine is cold but when warm it will restart ok.
      I suspect it’s air in fuel pump after I changed the fuel filter. I think it’s messing up the mix & flow of fuel ??
      I am going to try bleeding the injectors to remove trapped air. A vacuum pump on the green return line to tank @ fuel filter would also pull air out of lines.
      Did you get it fixed ?

    I wonder if this is what is wrong with my HDI in the 306, i had to strip it down to replace a daft pressure regulator, but had to wait to get the right part. So i am suspecting that this maybe the case, as the Code reader did register a fault, that i cleared, its never returned again.

    Здравствуйте. Это Леонид из Беларуси. У меня в машине после корпуса топливного фильтра идут пузыри, я заменил корпус топливного фильтра на новый и ничего не изменилось. После простоя плохо заводится , слишком низкое давление в топливной системе. Может подскажете откуда идёт воздух ,до ручной подкачки топлива пузырей нет. Двигатель сухой без признаков пропуска топлива. Спасибо.

      Здравствуйте, я рад услышать, что машина сейчас хорошо заводится. Несколько пузырьков в прозрачной трубке между топливным фильтром и топливным насосом является нормальным после замены топливного фильтра. Пока он запускается и работает как обычно, вы проделали хорошую работу. если он вообще не запустится, то вы можете следить за этим видео о том, как удалить воздух из топливной системы, но если его запуск тогда не о чем беспокоиться.

    hello, please help. Volvo 2.0 diesel had an engine failure during which the engine was damaged. During the diagnostics of the vehicle, she reported an error that the engine was forcibly turned off because it has engine protection that is activated due to uncontrolled oil circulation through the engine. The new engine is installed, but it won't start. What actions are needed to start it again, that is, to remove that protection. Thanks if you help

      Hi mate it's my first time to hear that such a protection exist. I would probably first connect Diagbox and check all the faults comming up with new engine it might be just a matter of a clearing faults or it might be a matter of a different parts used. Have you replaced just a block or a complete engine with injectors, fuel pump and other things around it? If you just replace a bare engine and used everything else from your old engine then it should start but if you done complete swap and now have new things like fuel pump, injectors and stuff it might need to do some programming. Also 2.0hdi use few different set ups so you might had delphi system and now you have Siemens fuel system and ecu cant work it out as it should be replaced aswell. Give me more details of what exactly has been replaced as its hard to advice it could be anything from air in a fuel system to different parts not recodnise to simple fault clear.

      New engine and new injectors and all electrical installation, fuel pump from the old engine because it remained working. The replacement of the engine was due to a failure of the pistons. Which happened due to a large amount of oil in the engine, about 10 liters. When starting the engine, the air was removed from the system. However, the engine it won't start. it turns on the start spray, but it won't on fuel, the injectors don't let fuel into the engine, thank you for trying to help, and let me mention an error on the car diagnosis, they show "the angle of the external valve is not ok, the new fuel pump is installed, the same problem appears

      @@admirkolic5282 if new injectors is programmed I would be looking in a matching of a cranckshaft and camshaft sensors maybe as if that is giving faulty reading it wouldn't let engine to start

    Hi, have a ford s-max 2.0 diesel, car is hard to start in the mornings or after a while when parked. Had air bubbles in lines, changed a fuel filter and bleed the air, was much better and no air. Now after a month seeing air again, last evening battery run out when was straying to fire engine, put another inside and car fired. Was suspecting injectors as they showing weird figures, but after air was cleared the car fired muched better, not perfect.. Now i thinking that air bubbles from somewhere plus old battery and tired starter motor cousing all this hard starting problems.. Glowplugs not related as was getting same in summer mornings. After hard start there is a huge white smoke stinky cloud. Also car stalls few times sometimes if i try to move straight after hard start.. Maybe somebody had same experience and have some other ideas? order onother used starter motor and will put new battery on a same job. However how to figure out where those air bubbles coming from? Car sometimes runs on low fuel, but clearly if it catch any air, that air should self bleed (burn after injector)??

      Hello mate there is a few possible cause. From everything you mentioned it sounds like your egr valve might be stuck open or might be getting stuck. Also for a bubles in a fuel hose i would not worry too much as some do have some air in them shouldnt be such a big problem as long as its not a gap of air but just a bubles. For the air bubles i would check a fuel return lines from injectors as if the little o rings a worn or there is a diesel leak anywhere around injectors from them then it would cause bubbles and hard start after you leave a car for a while. So basicly my opinion is either a bad fuel return hoses ( check for diesel around injectors) or Get it scanned might be EGR valve playing up and if its stuck open is really hard to start a car.

      thanks mate, have a forscan but no codes about egr or fuel lines, however egr might be programed off by previous owners, not sure about that. It just after fuel filter change and air cleared from the hoses car was much easier to start in the mornings, sometimes even perfect first start. Now is geting worse and air bubbles come back so i thinking its related. Return pipes might be the case, as i was taken off 2 of them to check injector leak, and one clip bent a little, so conector was keep coming off and diesel was pouring on top off the engine, manage to get new clip, but not sure about the seals, as it was keep moving might got demaged.. i searched lots of forums and lots of people getting hard start problem, but really no one fix, probably just bad engine from ford.. it only has one pump, that looks like a minus to me@@Mad4FrenchCars

    Similar problem with 807 2 litre HDI. Injectors are not easy to access. They have a black plastic cover on top. As I am not too good in mechanic, how do you remove the black cover on top of each Injectors?

      Hi mate if you mean a plastic engine cover then you have to lift a front of the cover like 10cm and move towards you as there is 4 rubber garments holding it in place and 3 of them you need to lift a cover off them and one is in a back facing front of the car so you pull engine cover towards you and it comes of that.

      @@Mad4FrenchCars I can get to the injectors, but each injector have a plastic rubber on top and I don't want to damage anything. Is that OK to remove it (quite hard) with a screw driver, then use a spanner for each injector and use your technic. Thanks

      @@jeromehenryuk sorry mate I can't confirm it's OK or not as I am not sure which fuel system you have and I can take no responsibility of giving advice for you to go ahead with it. All I can say is most common fuel systems is siements or delphi. If injectors same like in my video then it's Siemens if its different then its delphi most likely. And if injectors are Delphi then fuel supply is right on top of injector, then you have a fuel return rubber hoses from the side of the top of injector and electric connectors on a side of injectors. Do you know what fuel system it is and why do you want to remove a rubber plastics?

      @@jeromehenryuk hi mate what year is 807? I just realised that it can be a bosh fuel system aswell. Then it would have a fuel return with a little metal clips right on top of injector.

    I have transit 2.2tdci Started with struggle to start, and than couldn't start at all, once started, it cut off after 5/10sec. Any ideas what possibly could couse cut out?

      Many reasons. Most common is very old fuel filter clogged, egr valve open, or a camshaft sensor or crankshaft sensor dodgy or developed issue couse of oil going to connector. I would start from checking these first

      Best way is to get it scanned it should show some codes then take it from there.

    I have similar problem with my car with same engine...sometimes...let say once at two weeks,i start when the car i cold in the morning,i drive 1 km i then the car sudenly dies,after removing all the air from the system,then al day long 1-2 weeks no problem...seems that i have cracks somewhere in my fuel lines.

      It could be some sort of leak somethere in a system. I would start from new fuel filter and injector return connectors seals ( little o rings) check make sure all the fuel supply pipes are bolted on nicely. Also you can check connectors around a fuel pump. Its difficult to advise unless you see the car. Have you ever tried to scan a car with diagbox and see if anything fuel related comes back as a fault code? Another part witch sometimes can cause similar problem is a fuel presure regulator you have one on a actual fuel pump and one on a fuel rail.

      @@Mad4FrenchCars When happened the second time,when the car died...My mechanic grabed a hammer and punched couple of times the fuel regolator...with 4-5 gentle punches...and the car was almost started...maybe it has faulty fuel regulator,will see in time...Thank you for your advice i will check the other things also that you mention

      @@L.Lyubomirov if its a fuel regulator then it wouldnt give you a eml light but it would come up as faulty on a scan with diagbox. Probably would come up as: fuel presure in a fuel rail too high or too low kind of fault

    Hi mate I have a problem with my hdi I have done wot u have done although fuel pump fuel filter etc all getting fuel there isn't any getting through fuel rail into injectors.any ideas? Injectors on obd Read 68.9 across all 4
    Also a code p1421

      Have you undone a high pressure pipes of injectors and try to turn a car over few times to see if any fuel comes out. In a fuel rail you only have a pressure sensor I don't think it can stop fuel from coming down to injectors. Are you sure your pump is OK? Does the fuel definitely coming from fuel pump?

      I think a fault code has nothing to do with fuel system you should be able to delete it after you sort the fuel issue out. I would try to undo a high pressure pipes first and turn a engine over few times. If no fuel coming out then I would have a look if connectors on fuel pump all connected. Also what was a reason for you to follow these steps in a video how Did this problem started?

      Basically car has been sat a month (2.0 hdi rhs)or so ran fine before being parked battery was dead and probably due a new one.got my brother to put jump leads on he unfortunately put them on backwards for a second and it sparked at terminals(this could also be a factor?).put them on correctly continued to disarm immobiliser and start the car.the car fired for a second and cut out hasn't started since.have had it plugged in(obd) just incase blew a fuse etc only faults on the car was the power to Injectors were apparently getting 69.9 of power into them was told.Car has been sat but was started time again with no problem I thought it could be air lock have done your method fuel coming from tank that is OK also the pump that 2 was ok but the injectors were receiving nothing? Car was running absolutely fine prior to this just cannot find the fault

      @@paulbajada2948 well jump leads could have caused some sort of fuse to blow. The fuel still should come to injectors mate not sure what could be the issue here. Camshaft sensor or crankshaft sensor can cause a car not to start also open egr valve. I would go through all the fuses first probably BSM first the ones next to ecu it might be something blown. Fuel pump is turned by a camshaft so it should still pump a fuel through then you turn engine over.

    Hi I put new Injectors Delphi on my GWM 2.0 VGT the car is not starting no diesel coming out the injectiors please help

      Is Delphi a make of your old injectors aswell? You might have a air lock in a fuel system try to do the steps I have done in a video and see if it helps. Also what was a reason for you to change injectors, have you replaced all 4 or just 1? So the fuel doesn't get to injectors via a fuel supply?

    Man i have a problem with my peugeot 206 2.0 hdi. I took off the fuel supply the same way as this vid and 1-3 cyl is bone dry but 2-4 are soaked. What could it be

      Do up the 2 and 4 and keep turning engine over until 1 and 3 starts to push fuel out aswell

    What caused the air lock in the first place, I have air getting in my fuel line but not all the time, my v50 will drive perfectly for 20 miles then cut out with fuel lines completely full of air

      Hello in this video the air lock in a fuel system was there becouse then I changed a fuel filter a lot of fuel went out of the clear hose. But normally if you have so much air in a system building up, you need to look for a fuel leaks also check all connections on fuel lines. Also check around injectors and fuel return lines. It can be just one connection somethere sucking air in and causing problems. Also maybe a good idea to change a fuel filter to improve a flow of a fuel.

      @@Mad4FrenchCars hi thanks for replying, I've had the fuel lines tested for leaks, all OK, my tank has been building up a vacuum so I think the air vent in the tank maybe blocked, would that cause air to get in fuel lines?

      @@Strang3rman I am not sure mate. My fuel fuel tank is air tight not sure where would air vent would be. Then I open it after a long run it sounds like hoover sor a couple of seconds.

    I have same problem with my 407sw 2.0hdi , it can start but also showing me code error P0088 and P0087.
    Is it the same error that you had ?

      Hi mate from those faults I can tell that is definitely something related to a fuel pressure. One fault P0078 that is a pressure too low in a fuel rail and P0088 is Pressure too high in a fuel rail. I am sure I had same faults on my car before getting rid off air from fuel system. I would try to get rid of air from fuel system first.

      Need to scan with Diagbox. Could be a fuel related as if there is air in a system it sometimes doesn't start or it could be something like a camshaft sensor connector.. The point is it could be many things need to scan the car to round it down. Have you done any service work on it recently or something, how did it start to act up like that

      Then your filter is clogged and lets no fuel to go through it if no fuel comes after filter. Need to replace fuel filter

    my car starts but when i accelerate it goes into safe mode. Diagnostic is saying P0087 low fuel pressure
    And that is hapening after service :(

    Hi mate
    I wonder if you can help me out I have a Peugeot Expert 2.0 HDI 2011 and what happened one wet morning I had hit a deep puddle and my engine slowly cam to a stop then I tried turning it over 2 time and 3rd time lucky. 2 minutes down the road it stopped again, I know a little about engines so invested and came across a problem, it was my primary bulb had completely sucked all fuel and if any air- out of it.
    Rac guy says it's the fuel sender but a Peugeot specialist specialist says they don't have a sender in them hence the primer.
    Any help would be grateful Thanks In Advance.
