    I'll be moving there when I retire in three years. My daughter has lived in Ocean Springs for 18 years, and now my three married granddaughters live in the surrounding area. One in Gulf Port, the other two in Vancleave. I've visited once a year, and it truly is a beautiful part of our country. The only thing I have ever had issue with is the humidity (I'm asthmatic), but that is not going to stop my move. You should mention the nearby gambling establishments, as many retirees enjoy that activity. It's not for me, but it's a huge draw for many. I'm currently in California, and I cannot WAIT to escape this place. Our crime rate has soared to unbelievable proportions. I will be selling my Ca home and buying in Ocean Springs.

    Me & the Mrs spend a lot of time in Ocean Springs. Like the great content you have touched on is the reason we visit. We live in St.Bernard Parish so it’s not a bad drive to spend the day. Downtown is amazing for bunch, lunch or dinner. I honestly can’t blame anyone for retiring in the area. Thanks again for sharing!

    Just moved here to the Gulf Coast from California.
    My opinion is 'live in Gautier, play in Ocean Springs'
    New amazing Amphitheater and development at Old Mall looks fantastic.
    Gautier is Nature's Playground as well. Less traffic and cooler people. Plus a new Medical marijuana dispensary. Gautier is POPPIN..

      Thank you for sharing. Gautier has always been a blue collar town supporting ship building and other industries in Pascagoula. There are many beautiful properties along the Pascagoula River and the coast. There was a time when the indoor shopping mall attracted people from all over. Over time it became run down with lots of vacancies, and eventually torn down. I'm glad they're finally doing something with the space. Thanks again for sharing!

    Our family went to New Orleans around 2017? I'm not sure how I found Ocean Springs, but we spent a couple nights there on our way back home. We stayed in the cutest airbnb, next to the best donuts shop I've ever been to! Tattonuts or something like that. (I'd move there for the donuts alone🤣) Anyway, I loved the area! Our walk to the beach was gorgeous but the beach/water itself was pretty disgusting. Not sure which one we went to? Are the other two beaches a lot nicer?

    • @expectrealty
      @expectrealty  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great question Nicole and unfortunately the answer is no, the beaches are pretty much the same. I guess you're referring to the dark water which is not very attractive, definitely disgusting to many. The reason the water is dark and dirty looking is that our waters are actually estuary and are very muddy from the flow of the Mississippi river. The majority of the sand beaches are man-made. If you want to swim and play in the surf go to Gulf Shores or Destin. The sand bottom makes for the most beautiful water 😃. But for those that don't need to swim, our small town vibe, beautiful oaks, and Gulf views are worth checking out.
      P.S. Tato-Nut Donut Shop is the place you remember and the donuts are very good.

      @@expectrealty ah, okay. My boys like the ocean and the water, but I don't care anything about it. I absolutely loved your little town. I just didn't realize that I shouldn't have expected "ocean" at the time.

      Hi, Raymond, it sounds like you're asking about a rental and I only handle sales. If you search for property management or rental properties in Ocean Springs in Google or other search engine you will find companies that can help you.

  • @michaelchristie4517
    @michaelchristie4517 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    So the ocean water is disgusting there or just looks disgusting because of the mud bottom? We are looking to relocate from Oklahoma but my wife wants a nice quiet beach but one she can at least take a quick dip in every once in a while.
    Also, how’s the crime rate in Ocean Springs and surrounding areas?

    • @expectrealty
      @expectrealty  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It really depends on she feels is disgusting. I know people who refuse to get in it and I know people who have a no problem with water. I don't ever go to hang out at the beach but I do wade fish along the coast and don't personally have any problem with the water. Bottom line, if you're looking for turquoise blue water and natural beaches, the Mississippi Coast may not be for you. I would say the vast majority of locals don't hang out at the beach and swim. That's probably true in other beach towns as well. Now if you get a boat and venture out to the barrier islands, 30 minutes, you'll find clear water and beautiful natural beaches. And you can definitely find peace and quiet out there. Of course there are some parts of the island, at certain times a year, that attract hundreds of boats and a sun bathers.

    • @expectrealty
      @expectrealty  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Seems to be the case for many but it shouldn't ever be forgotten. The devastation and destruction was unimaginable but the coast has always been resilient. We were really hit hard with Katrina in 2005, economy melt down and housing crisis in 2007-2008, and then the BP oil spill in 2010. Every time we got back on our feet we got slugged again yet the growth has been amazing in the recent years.

      I disagree, some of the best people I know moved here from other areas. We have been a melting pot for centuries. We were once the seafood capital of the world which attracted many people to the area. Keesler Air Force Base, once an army airfield during world War II, has been relocating people to the coast for nearly a hundred years.
