Clarification - the Mississippi Coastal Casinos do not have to be floating on water anymore. After Katrina, Mississippi lawmakers changed the law so that they can be on land but have to be within a specified number of feet from the water. Thanks for Watching!
I've lived in Biloxi, Vancleave and Ocean Springs. Of the three, I would take Ocean Springs because it is so quaint and has such a welcoming feel. I've considered moving back many times.
Don't forget Pascagoula! No highway noise on that beach (now named Jimmy Buffett Beach). Pascagoula has a fun little old downtown area (start on Delmas Ave) with WONDERFUL food & cool pubs... not far from that is Brady's Steaks and Seafood on the river. This has turned into such a quiet city full of interesting people ready to chat. Peaceful walks on the beach and fishing
Thank you so much for watching. I did not make it to Pascagoula on my trip, but I will be sure to use your recommendations on my next trip to that area.
We are on the coast! Our beach is right there just like Mobile is coastal. That's like saying because someone lives in Waveland/Hancocok county they aren't the coast because they aren't directly on the beach itself. @@nette49
Not only did Katrina wipe out the Mississippi gulf coast but so did Camile in 1969. When Katrina hit everyone was focused on New Orleans and the devastation there but the coast was, dare I say, was ignored. A news weather broadcast actually called us a mass between Alabama and Louisiana. But the Mississippi Gulf Coast is resilient, and we build back better each time we encounter a storms such as these.
Yes, you definitely built back, even better than before. Thank you for watching and sharing your thoughts. People need to know Katrina was more than NOLA.
Thank you so much You have the best video filled with lots good information. I've never been to any of the beaches in Mississippi but will be going soon
Thank you, one of the best MS Gulf Coast videos I have seen. Having personally experienced the aftermath of Hurricane Camille, the renaissance of the area is spectacular. Looking forward to visiting soon.
Super interesting. No idea the beaches are man-made. No idea the casinos have to be on water and no idea the damage from Katrina... news seemed to focus on New Orleans. My dad did basic training in Biloxi in the 1950's so peaked my interest. #VRAFam
I was also unaware of the beaches being man made. I do need to clarify, after Katrina, the casinos do not have to be on water anymore, but they do have to be within a certain number of feet. Thank you for watching! #VRAFam
The entire MS gulf coast got smacked by Katrina. Yes the coverage only went to Nola due to flooding and the levee breaking but ms got hit head on it looked like a bomb went off. Entire casinos were moved from their original locations. The president casino was moved like a mile and grand Gulfport and grand biloxi moved across the street. 20-28ft storm surges
Pass Christian and Bay St. Louis are two areas my friends and I have been interested in. We live in densely crowded coastal Florida and are natives looking to step back in time. Thank you...
That whole area, Waveland included, is beautiful. I've also considered moving there one day. Has a unique feel from the rest of the state...like you're not in Mississippi, lol.
Some other best secrets are: The Gulf water is not good for swimming that's why you don't see many swimmers, and since Katrina the casino's have raised their house edge on most games - like slots and video poker.
I grew up in Mississippi all my lige until age 22. Went to the old Gulfpory High. Ladt graduation clas of 77. The Mississippi Aquariam is where the First Baptist Church once stood for many years.
Excellent video (except for the intercut shots of Vegas). Just the right length for an overview, well-produced, and a good job of covering the entire strip. Although I have lived in California for many years now, I grew up in Jackson, MS, and my family spent many vacations on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
I’ve spent tons of Money Frequenting the Mississippi Coast. I love Gambling and Eating so I figured this is the place for me. I’m proud to help their Economy especially after Katrina.
I moved to Mississippi over 11 years ago..spent many days in long Beach. Pass christian...on the beach...ride my harley down to the coast. Spend the night on the beach..sunrise..head home...
I really love the water . I would like to have a vacation house plantation on the Ms coast when I get married for real and not be disturbed by the wrong people.
Thanks for watching. No, I am not from the Mississippi coast. I am just someone who loves to travel and learn about interesting places. Thank you for the correction! 😀
Biloxi used to be corrupt pre-casinos, especially in the 70s. There were literally ''cat houses'' in the numerous strip joints. You could negotiate with a stripper and spend some quality time in the back rooms...lol! Same with massage parlors. Biloxi was also known back in the day for the Dixie Mafia, as well as corrupt sheriffs, cops, and mayors. Whatever you think Biloxi is today, it's nothing compared to the way it was before the casinos!
The beaches are GROSS. They may have artificially piled sand at the water’s edge to create a “beach,” but walk a couple dozen yards out into the water and you are walking in slimy MUD. The water is the color of chocolate milk year round.

After 64 years of living in Massachusetts, a friend told me to check out coastal MS and it felt like home so I moved to Ocean Springs. ❤
The Mississippi Coast is really special. Thanks for watching!

Been there 4 times. From Ohio. Love it
That's because mainstream news is about sensationalism and leftist politics. The juicier and more lucrative story was in New Orleans.
Thank you so much You have the best video filled with lots good information. I've never been to any of the beaches in Mississippi but will be going soon
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching!

Wow, thank you! I am heading back soon, so expect more videos on that area.

I love Bay st Louis. It’s such a cute town.
I agree! Thanks for watching!
🙋♀️Born in “the Bay,” and so proud !

Yes, you are correct, beachs are great, water not so much. It is way too close to Mississippi River. Thanks for watching!
I always wondered why I never see anyone at the beach, I have never been there but I watch a lot of you tube videos and shows on TV. Is it polluted?

Thanks for watching and the kind words!
It's cute to hear how you pronounce Pass Christian. 😊 It doesn't sound like the word Christian. ....the "ian" is "ee-ann."
Thanks for watching!

The beach looks pretty and clean. Do people actually go to the beach there? In all of these vids I never see any people by the water.
Yes, people do go on the beach, but it isn’t crowded.
Yes I have been to Waveland Biloxi Mississippi is such a beautiful state
Yes, I agree with you. Mississippi is a beautiful state with wonderful people. Thank you for watching!
@@WhichPathTravelogue I wish I lived there maybe one day food is wonderful I lived in Pasagula miss in 1970 I loved it
It’s so nice ..
Thank you for your comment and for watching.

You are correct, that is the real Las Vegas. Thanks for watching.

Great memories for you! Sounds like you need another sunrise on the beach.
I was in Biloxi from 1965to 1967 I can’t remember the name of the hurricane in 1965.
Thanks for watching! I looked it up - Hurricane Betsy hit in 1965.
Have You been to McElroy's and Mary Mahoney's. If so, please give review. Thank you
Thanks for the request. The next time that I am in the Biloxi area, I will definitely review them. Mary Mahoney's was one of my mom's favorites.
McElroy's used to be the place to go! Delicious food. But I don't know if it's still in business, haven't been to the coast in years.
I really love the water . I would like to have a vacation house plantation on the Ms coast when I get married for real and not be disturbed by the wrong people.
That sounds amazing, a vacation house by the water is the wonderful goal. Hope you get to make that dream a reality soon! Thanks for watching!
I can tell you aren’t from the Mississippi coast, Pass Christian is pronounced Pass Chris tee ann
Thanks for watching. No, I am not from the Mississippi coast. I am just someone who loves to travel and learn about interesting places. Thank you for the correction! 😀
With the accent on the last syllable.
😂 it drove me nuts as well!
Bless your heart…just because you mispronounce a word doesn’t make it right.
Casinos and political greed ruined what was once a staple of southern charm. 😢
Thanks for watching! There is still lots of southern charm. Everyone that I met was so welcoming and friendly.

Yes, I knew it is a man made beach. Lived on the Coast since 1975. I hate the Casinos, it was so nice before they were built in the early 90’s.
Thanks for watching!
My dad helped build those casino boats
Oh WOW! That is so interesting! Thank you for sharing that with me.

That is what I have heard also.
I agree. Brown water ruins the whole thing.
The water is dark because of the barrier islands
The Pass is pronounced “Pass Chris Chan”
Thank you!
Well, then you mispronounce the word.
@@woodyhayes7402if you are local, that is the correct way to pronounce it
That “wonderful little downtown area” of Ocean Springs is being destroyed by floods of people watching videos like this and moving there. 😠
