I read that story and just knew they would blame Trump on this. Theres a big difference between hydroxichloroquine and chloroquine phosphate. One small chemical change makes all the difference. Just like sodium chloride may be tasty, but eating sodium or breathing chlorine can do you in.

That said who knows what else this was mixed with this guys CP (maybe it was fish cleaner) but yeah that doesn't change the fact you shouldn't take medicine that is not prescribed by a doctor.

Boomer here. I think anyone over 60 should self quarantine, let the young people get back to their jobs. We always send young people to die in war to defend our country. This is a war for the country's future. Time for the people who have lived their lives to step up.
And older people need to think and talk to their loved ones about their wishes and make advanced directives. Do you want to die on a ventilator? Now is the time to think about these things.

As a professional engineering technician, my job is often to provide technical translations of what is colloquially referred to as common sense for supervising engineers. But embarrass or undermine them? Never.
My husband is an electrician. He's been working in Nashville repairing tornado damage. I wanted him home in Georgia because I was afraid but he feels like he is a strong stallion....said if he were to come home and not work it might only be several weeks before we ran out of money. I pray for him....he feels well...loads of electricians and plumbers still working on storm damage in Nashville.

It's basically a more infectious and new flu strain hitting the elderly. Just tell your husband to keep up the hygiene, hand-washing, and distancing where possible on the job, and he'll be fine. Many American probably do not have several weeks of cash-on-hand, so count your blessings, and continue to save where possible. God Bless.

South Korea also does not have an FDA requiring that all virus testing devices must undergo a year or more of clinical trials before the manufacturer will be allowed to produce and market it. ... and I'm guessing that they might not have government regulations limiting the number of hospital beds to protect the profits of established hospitals.

Or an entire division of government that won’t even allow manufactured components that are identical, but not medically certified, to be added to ventilators being manufactured under emergency conditions. That same government agency won’t allow ventilators used in ambulances to be used in hospital environments. Prime example of government regulators hampering response.
The FDA has a process for skipping all that. They are choosing not to use it.

From Long Beach, CA here and in at least the past month, the homeless are completely taking over main streets and leaving trash and waste in front of businesses and public space instead of more manageable locations.
While California has most of the nations homeless. The State closes public bathrooms. AKA: Access for the homeless to soap & water!

Ben, trust me as a person that earned $45,000+/year to relying on SSDI and having to sit at home due to disability...sitting at home not working relying on the govt is not a picnic nor a party...I would much rather be working, living paycheck to paycheck than being forced into bankruptcy and living month to month waiting on an insurance check that does not provide enough to actually live on. you can't get any other assistance because the pittance you receive from SSA is considered actual income by all govt agencies and is higher than all income limits used to determine eligibility for all other assistance programs...there are very few jobs available to disabled persons and the agencies that are supposed to help one find employment only do enough so that they can get their budgets refunded by the feds
I was on SSI for 4 years, 20 years ago, it was hell, I could not wait to get back to work.

It’s not just old people! Stop with that. Old people may be the ones dying but young people are being hospitalized. If there isn’t enough medical supplies, health young people start dying too. This includes doctors and nurses. When that starts happening we are screwed.

The following is anecdotal, but from a medical practitioner. A wealthy acquaintance has mentioned to me that in travels he noted that not only does Italy seem to have a inordinate number of older people, but also a great number of smokers. The quote was, "We saw more smokers in 2 days last summer than we see in a year here in the States." Maybe these two factors combine to create the terrible results in Italy.

I'm a substitute teacher, so I'm now looking into those teaching English online to Asians opportunities. Yesterday my husband was literally laid off during our governor's announcement to close down non-essential businesses. Good thing he still has his CDL, so he's going to see if he can get back into trucking. Meanwhile, Democrats keep playing politics.

Don't do stupid stuff. That is the moral of this story. You do not use medicine, unless it comes from a pharmacy and is advised by your doctor or the pharmacist. Also do not drink fish cleaner or any toxic stuff that people should/do not eat. This goes back to those supposedly candy look like packages that were used to clean your clothes; those are not candy.

Hydroxychloroquin brand name plaquinel is mostly used in this country to treat rheumatoid arthritis. RA is an autoimmune disease that not only destroys joints by attacking the soft tissues in the joints. It also attacks organs. Most RA patients exist in a very delicate balance. Once a drug balance is achieved it can be disrupted very easily. Now the ones on plaquinel are being denied their medicine. But, ya know it’s ok, because we might be able to use it to help alleviate the symptoms of covid 19. MIGHT. Not will.
