It was sleeping a little but with a little "kick in the pants" it woke right up! Can't beat the quality of the beast. There's some pretty good workers in and around Charles City IA.
I pulled out the oil pan from my 1850 diesel was a little struggle but doable. Pace yourself in this heat none of this is worth a heat stroke!
Man that looked like a bit of a fight. Hope it all works. Good video Ross
You can use sewing thread through the holes and tie them tightly. The permatex will seal around them.
😁👍👍
I bought a 1967 1850 and had to fix or replace the hydra power.
Found a 3 speed for it. Wouldn’t trade it for anything. Luv it
That looks like it is going to be a tough job to get it back together without messing up the gasket. Not much room to work with. Thanks for sharing. See you later.
Cool video Ross, unlike this heat. Nice job getting the ole oil pan off. Good luck with the gaskets. Thank you for sharing.
An interesting project Ross looking forward to you fitting the sump will it be success or sadness
I like using the permitex aviation gasket maker because I can use it like a glue to keep the gasket in place but don't have to worry about a bunch stringy crap getting somewhere it shouldn't.
My son and I had to replace the #4 dry sleeve on this tractor. He has a 5.2L Perkins engine and the gasket on his oil pan was a little off, but workable. Good luck with your project and have a good day!
great video thank you for taking us along
Not a pleasant situation laying on your back reaching up at the extent of your arms. Had a similar situation working on an IH 620 press drill main drive chain housing..use your imagination LOL
Puzzle-piece gaskets are very common in many engines. I always put a smear of Permatex Ultra on all joints and intersections. If you overhaul one of those Perkins, be sure and watch your Michigan counterpart's videos on the pump drive washers. If not done you will have an engine that hunts like a prized hunting dog and never settle on a set RPM. We had a couple customers who said they lived with it for quite a while and would wait till it needed an overhaul which on those engines was far between times. I hated Perkins engines but just had to deal with them.
Wow bud hope getting there and with projects I'm getting there now my savage HPI nitro
Nice video Ross
ROSS, I just so happen to have a running driving 1850 with the 3 spd hydraul shift And I am planning to sell it.
You can use fine wire to hold the gasket on and get the bolts started then pull the wire out!!
Oh Knudsen is becoming my favorite lime lol. Hey Ross in what state are you located?
Is your 1850 officially a parts tractor now or is it just on the back burner for a project? Some day I'd like an 1850
👍
