Thank you for the painting information. I work in the paint dept at a Home Depot. I love teaching people howto use the ultra pure white card under the color card they are looking at in order to see the color better and the dreaded undertone. I'm thinking it is as I have been looking at alot of Behr whites such as Shoelace, Cotton Knit and others but I can't recall having a color chip for Blank Canvas. I know she said it was Color of the Year but I didnt catch it if she said it was actually a new addition to the Behr white family. Regardless, it sounds like a good one. Thx!
I live in Central Europe, it's normal here to have white walls, I'd say 8 out of 10 homes have white walls, mine too. I combine it with dark grey, wood, black, gold, beige and green plants, I learned these tipps from you, Valentina! The homes here are so much smaller than American standards and white walls make the space look bigger and brighter. The other reason is, when you sell your home the new owner will have a blank canvas and can do their own style. One more reason is that white walls are easy to repair, you don't have to paint the whole wall completely. Financial reasons are that it cost much less to change the accessoires than paint the walls in a new color every few years, if you want to change your style. I think white walls never go out of trend and are literally a blank canvas that you can use the way you want :)
I some times think about group psychology and what happened to American design from the eras when exuberant colors were the style to the present modern industrial style! Our homes are painted and furnished in what I call the office\industrial look! Valentina's home looks very similar to the posh executive offices of my employer company! What happened to our esthetic sensibility when our hospital walls are painted in colors and our homes are painted in white? I watched Downtown Abbey and was astonished at the beautiful the wall colors! I have subscribed to British decorating magazines where there still is use of color besides shades of white! I did not want to come home are stare during my prescious free time at the same colors and furniture style!

Recently had the interior of my home painted with Sherwin Williams Snowdrift. It has made such a difference. Your design expertise helped me come to this choice. It looks great on my 15 ft tall walls in my great room and the other areas as well. Even my posts and beams were painted. I am over the moon with this new look. Thnx so much!
Choosing the “right” white is very challenging. Very dependent on light exposure. We painted our home 3 shades of whites ….. majority spaces were an overlooked/unknown color: Bridal Lace by Behr. Stunning - and makes our warm woodwork absolutely pop!

Wonderful! Ive been looking at SW's Greek Villa (almost a perfect match to Blank Canvas). But want to thank you for the Shoji White suggestion - my other option - for my exterior. The front of the home faces southwest and I agree this is a better option for the sunny area it resides. Onward.....!
I recently painted my master bathroom BM White Dove and I absolutely LOVE it, very neutral and not yellow. I have a lot of antique oil landscape paintings and they look so pretty with this color background. I’m going to paint the rest of interior off white, so definitely looking into Blank Canvas.

Im actually painting my house the same can be used on ceiling and trim also. Im using Chantilly White with the ceiling and trim though. 😉for my north facing entrance hallway which is rather dark

I moved into my home five years ago and fell in love with Behr Swiss coffee and perfect taupe… colors that aren’t too white.. or too grey! I think it’s classic and timeless
I'm from the Netherlands and we don't have Behr paints here. I'm planning to paint the interior of my house with PPG1075-1. Comparing the RGB values and LRV to Behr's Blank Canvas, they seem very similar, so I'm hopeful that my paint choice will be a good one too.
Love white, shows art so beautifully I live in Canada at the beginning of of Covid lock down painted my home in Home Hardware paint shade" My mind is a blank". My local Home Hardware was the only place that was tinting paint during the " paintdemic" love the colour so much.
All I can say, I love the white on white. Valentina, you are my inspiration to try all white. Always made me nervous. But I love it especial with wood accents and of course faux plants because I don't have enough direct sunlight to make for plants to thrive. Whites can be hard. It's all about the undertone. I lived in a house for a while that had cool white walls with a green undertone and it felt so cold! Now I always do warm whites.
Just painted a majority of my house bahr Dove white. I have a few walls with matte blacks. Love my walls white! 😍 I might try that Conifer green in my powder room.

We are flipping a second house and I used behr silky white throughout the entire house to stay on the neutral side. I was starting to doubt the choice but after seeing this I’m so relieved!! I did have to work at warming it up but it can be done! I actually used brown woods and blacks and lots of wicker and plants. I used white dove in the last flip and I have used Swiss coffee (BM) in my own home and both are beautiful, but diff. Lighting can affect the undertones and make them appear cream so be sure to TEST first. I’m definitely going to check out this new color!
Good advice. I went with - what I thought - was a soft white, but because of the lighting in my living room and kitchen, it looks like it leans yellowish, and it bugs me. I used oil based paint on all the woodwork, so redoing it feels overwhelming to me. Wish I had tested first. smh

Your eye for the details/undertones for the paint colors is how I view them too. When asking acquaintances which color to choose, they were very confused since for them they were all the same.

Funny...I painted my home all white years ago because I just couldn't decide on colors. 💯❣️I am seriously considering repainting the new Behr white and then I will add color, pattern and texture with new furniture and accessories. ❣️
Dove white has been one of my favorites for years! Such a great color of white because it's truly a neutral color and goes with everything. I am a white, gray and blue gal those are my colors.

It is fun to see how thrilled you are, that white is still being honored by Behr! I am sorry to say, I am not a fan of white walls…I know you love it. Where we can agree, I use soft rich whites as beautiful accessories against the soft linen toned walls. White walls on white is not my vibe…but many people do like it cause it is a no brainer for sure. Wonder about the other paint companies and what their choice of what the color of the year will be? This version of white is too antiseptic for my esthetic. I do love the rest of the palette however and this selection does show the colors on the whole are still moving toward warmer natural tones. They are a smart American company to lead with this popular neutral white and then follow up with colors that transition white interiors into the rest of the palette. You are right about white, is a classic and easy to work with..I just love it in smaller quantities 😀 Enjoy your videos!
We decided to go with white throughout the home earlier in the year....you add your colour & it throws a cast upwards tricking the eye to thinking you have colour on the wall! Change your colour decor & the reflection changes, sunny days through a different colour to dull moody days! I love it🙌

Love this! I have Whitetail by Sherwin-Williams in most of my house with a bedroom in Country Squire. It is a very deep green in gloss which I love as the light dances on the walls!

Wondering if your team has a preference for the different brands of paint. I don't mind painting with different brands buy it seems, over the years, the Benjamin Moore paints stay more true to the color and they paint on like pudding which is wonderful.
Was going to go with white dove but when sampled in room and hallway it picked up a muddy color, so decided on simply white...hopefully turns out great

Coincidentally I painted my home white except two rooms. I am not opposed to color on the walls. I like to see color walls too. I have mahogany trim and cabinets in my home. Would blank canvas work well with mahogany? My home needs updated, but I can't afford to change the cabinets and trim.

Hi Valentina im a huge fan of all your videos I have a small half bathroom that Im doing half the walls in ship lap and repainting the remaining currently its BM iceberg a nice light color however I was looking for some more suggestions i love darker colors just afraid to commit i suppose the rest of the house is BM grey owl we have mostly neutrals throughout as we will most likely rent it out and want to appeal to the masses thanks in advance for any insight !
What size is too small to use a dark accent wall. I love the dark color you use in your home. I work at home and I have a small office. It is a black white scheme with black furniture. Right now the walls are a green color but I am going to paint them white to brighten the room. Could I do an accent wall or just use black and white framed art on the walls.

Question: All of my walls are slate gray. It's the paint that was used in all of the RH showrooms many years ago. I bought the paint from RH. My furniture is white and light gray. Accessories are silver or black. The walls are incredible and I have never been sorry for staying with this color. For the winter I would love to add a brown or some flavor of brown or beige maybe in pillows or artwork, etc. Would you do this with all of the gray, or would it ruin the idea? If so, what color of browns? I am more minimal than glam.

I watched this video when it first came out and I painted my living room with Blank Canvas this weekend. I LOVE Blank Canvas! I’m going to paint most of the remaining main floor in it.
Light bulbs. I like daylight ones. But yes sometimes the cast is too blue, green. But I like the clarity and brightness of them. Soft white can be too yellow, dingy for me. Lately I’ve liked a one called reveal I think. It’s a almost pink tone, comes through very neutral yet still bright. Maybe some brands are better with the soft white? I want to find some to use, for some areas.

What colors wouldn’t want to look at if I live the undertones of Blank Canvas but want an LRV between 65-75? I have very little natural light and I’m worried about shadows ninths brighter colors but I’m craving white!!
Valentina, I am so pleased to see white as a color of the year 2023! I don’t usually care about trends but after 10 years of beige SW Kilim Beige , which I loved, I went white. After multiple swatches, I picked SW Shoji White and love it. It is warm, creamy and dreamy. It looks awesome in my open space living/dining room especially since I get a lot of natural light. It is all so beautiful.

Previous our walls were Dolphin Gray from Behr for over 10 years, our spaces now feel refreshed, bright and open! We couldn't agree more that Polar Bear is the perfect neutral tone of white. Funny...I painted my home all white years ago because I just couldn't decide on colors. 💯❣️I am seriously considering repainting the new Behr white and then I will add color, pattern and texture with new furniture and accessories. ❣️

Dove white has been one of my favorites for years! Such a great color of white because it's truly a neutral color and goes with everything. I am a white, gray and blue gal those are my colors.

So happy to hear your comments on it! I have a built in hutch in my dining room and trying to decide what to paint it to go with the White Dove walls. It is fun to see how thrilled you are, that white is still being honored by Behr! I am sorry to say, I am not a fan of white walls…I know you love it. Where we can agree, I use soft rich whites as beautiful accessories against the soft linen toned walls. White walls on white is not my vibe…but many people do like it cause it is a no brainer for sure. Wonder about the other paint companies and what their choice of what the color of the year will be? This version of white is too antiseptic for my esthetic. I do love the rest of the palette however and this selection does show the colors on the whole are still moving toward warmer natural tones. They are a smart American company to lead with this popular neutral white and then follow up with colors that transition white interiors into the rest of the palette. You are right about white, is a classic and easy to work with..I just love it in smaller quantities 😀 Enjoy your videos!

We decided to go with white throughout the home earlier in the year....you add your colour & it throws a cast upwards tricking the eye to thinking you have colour on the wall! Change your colour decor & the reflection changes, sunny days through a different colour to dull moody days! I love it🙌

This is so great! My house is 9 years old and our cabinets, trim, and most walls are white dove. I’m looking at repainting some rooms and I’m so happy white dove is still a good white.

Amen amen! I follow several designers and you ate the only one who embraces white. Years ago I found a book called "White on White" and I felt like I had come home. White is the secret sauce, in my design sensibility.

Love this! I have Whitetail by Sherwin-Williams in most of my house with a bedroom in Country Squire. It is a very deep green in gloss which I love as the light dances on the walls!

Wondering if your team has a preference for the different brands of paint. I don't mind painting with different brands buy it seems, over the years, the Benjamin Moore paints stay more true to the color and they paint on like pudding which is wonderful.
Was going to go with white dove but when sampled in room and hallway it picked up a muddy color, so decided on simply white...hopefully turns out great

I’m using this color in our entire upstairs! I ADORE it. Pairing it with moody dark green, wood, and warm gray. I’m just so happy - it’s a perfect white for me!
Coincidentally I painted my home white except two rooms. I am not opposed to color on the walls. I like to see color walls too. I believe people should make their home what makes them feel good and their own style. I appreciate the "trend" information because one gets inspiration on color and decor and it's fun to watch. I have mahogany trim and cabinets in my home. Would blank canvas work well with mahogany? My home needs updated, but I can't afford to change the cabinets and trim.

Hey Valentina ...watching your show for over a year Made me change the foot print of my Home YES white - Simply white from BM - we also did a dark moody den in New burg blue by BM and gravel grey on our doors ...and introduce it all on our stone work on our fireplace and yes white dove kitchen cabinets

Hi Valentina im a huge fan of all your videos I have a small half bathroom that Im doing half the walls in ship lap and repainting the remaining currently its BM iceberg a nice light color however I was looking for some more suggestions i love darker colors just afraid to commit i suppose the rest of the house is BM grey owl we have mostly neutrals throughout as we will most likely rent it out and want to appeal to the masses thanks in advance for any insight !
What size is too small to use a dark accent wall. I love the dark color you use in your home. I work at home and I have a small office. It is a black white scheme with black furniture. Right now the walls are a green color but I am going to paint them white to brighten the room. Could I do an accent wall or just use black and white framed art on the walls.

I used Behr Ultra Pure White and Behr Flannel Gray for the accent color. Those colors work perfectly either the flooring & cabinets we added!

Question: All of my walls are slate gray. It's the paint that was used in all of the RH showrooms many years ago. I bought the paint from RH. My furniture is white and light gray. Accessories are silver or black. The walls are incredible and I have never been sorry for staying with this color. For the winter I would love to add a brown or some flavor of brown or beige maybe in pillows or artwork, etc. Would you do this with all of the gray, or would it ruin the idea? If so, what color of browns? I am more minimal than glam.
I'm a house flipper and am really getting into white and off whites right now. What do you think of Polar Bear? I am doing a master bedroom in a flip with Silver Drop on the walls and 4 foot beadboard paneling with Polar Bear on it for a two tone look.
I watched this video when it first came out and I painted my living room with Blank Canvas this weekend. I LOVE Blank Canvas! I’m going to paint most of the remaining main floor in it.

Light bulbs. I like daylight ones. But yes sometimes the cast is too blue, green. But I like the clarity and brightness of them. Soft white can be too yellow, dingy for me. Lately I’ve liked a one called reveal I think. It’s a almost pink tone, comes through very neutral yet still bright. Maybe some brands are better with the soft white? I want to find some to use, for some areas.
Ugh no kidding! It's hard these days to find a decent lightbulb! WHO likes these new crazy bright daylight bulbs?
I would say BM White Christmas is also a very good white with no undertone and it looks fabulous with dark stained flooring with a hint of red.

What colors wouldn’t want to look at if I live the undertones of Blank Canvas but want an LRV between 65-75? I have very little natural light and I’m worried about shadows ninths brighter colors but I’m craving white!!
Valentina, I am so pleased to see white as a color of the year 2023! I don’t usually care about trends but after 10 years of beige SW Kilim Beige , which I loved, I went white. After multiple swatches, I picked SW Shoji White and love it. It is warm, creamy and dreamy. It looks awesome in my open space living/dining room especially since I get a lot of natural light. It is all so beautiful.
