I’ve been a designer for nearly 50 years. I’ve always stressed to clients that everyone needs a little black. I personally use a lot of black. It’s all the things you say it is Valentina! Really enjoyed your video today!
I’ve also been a designer…including major retail stores. I use BLACK in every space. Did columns in a large mens department…very masculine with leopard carpet in fitting rooms, leather chairs. You know the drill.
It's the addition of greenery that brings it all together and keeps a home feeling "lived in" rather than "look don't touch". Great video.
I love the addition of - small amounts - of dark brown in your space. It just seems to add a cozy depth to the space - on camera at least.

You didn’t ask me but I love adding black for Christmas too. I’m doing natural tans and off white handmade but for the purchased ornaments I’m incorporating black, bronze and burgundy. I’m so excited! You can add it to metallics, or to traditional red and green, black, white and red is beautiful too!

Valentina, I am finally incorporating black in to my living room! I bought that brown and black geo patterned pillow case from H and M. And I love it! I’ve added a few brown heathered pillows. All against a 25 yr old slip covered creamy couch from Arhaus! Brought a dark brown oblong dark brown basket from Magnolia and other pottery (matte) and put it on shiny glass coffee table. Best part, it’s all new feeling on pieces that I no longer love!

Hi there!!! I just love you and your family!! You guys are so fabulous! I have a totally random question… I am starting to make my plan for the holidays and I remembered a couple years ago you had planted some trees and then you were able to take clippings from them the following years. Could you tell me what type of tree that was? Was it a spruce tree? I want to do something very similar this year but I wasn’t 100% sure what type of tree to purchase. Thank you so so much! I believe that every room needs a touch of black. I don’t know what it is but it just makes a room so much better. It does happen to be my favorite color ( or non-color). Where does the white bowl on the coffee table come from? I’m refreshing my home and bought several items in black from CB2.
