    Awesome material thanks for sharing. How are you rendering so quickly? what are your PC stats and configs in blender.

      Please keep in mind that I speed up the render when compiling these videos to save time. Generally though glass does tend to take a lot longer than other materials due to all of the calculations needed.

    You make some great shaders, thank you.
    Can I make a request? I have tried to make a gloopy shader. One that I can string from one point to another, like hanging between two fingers, and it has that see though, but gloopy effect. It's a strange consistency I just can't get right. Thanks.

      Would my toxic slime work for the look? I'll have think on how to apply this to something using physics properties. Thanks for the suggestion.

      @@blenderbitesize Maybe. I was trying for a shader that was clear with a loose jelly consistency...just more...yes, gloopy, something I could add to a metaball. But yes, I suppose having to use some sort of fluid would be what is needed to make the effect exactly what I'm looking for.

    • @blenderbitesize

      I think the gloopiness would need to come from consistency which would be set via various modifiers or physics controls. The look would come from the shader.

    Please would you look up video "Blender Tutorial - rendering diamonds and gemstones - YafaRay Render [ENG]" and recreate the effect? It looks AMAZING (the clear one), but I am not sure if it's worth attempting as it's an old video. Please update this awesome effect. I needs the precious! Thanks!

      I'll take a look at the video. However, you can get a clear gem with this set up by removing the colour.

    • @DaveThompsonfairlife4all
      @DaveThompsonfairlife4all 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@blenderbitesize Thank you. It's those coloured flares that look so nice as the gem turns. I'd love to make it if you can work it out. Not sure if you'd still need that Yafaray??

    • @scanncuttutorials
      @scanncuttutorials 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @DaveThompsonfairlife4all I see. That sounds like it'll come from the lighting, camera and environment set up as the shader here is already refracting the light. I take it the other video creator didn't clarify?

    • @DaveThompsonfairlife4all
      @DaveThompsonfairlife4all 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@scanncuttutorials What's the Yafaray all about? I am still quite new to Blender, so haven't quite worked out the shader nodes, but those flashes of colours as it turns look gorgeous. I want one inside a bubble that inside a water sim! Maybe the creator is no longer active.

    Hi there, I don't know if you are still active, I just want to say, I love your tutorial! However, I'm having a weird problem around 7:00.
    When I copy everything and press CTRL + G, I don't get the same results you do and I'm not sure why. I've followed the steps from A - Z and yet, that's the only thing that's giving me trouble. So like in your video when you group everything, you get the 2 IOR, 4 Values and the Color. But when I do it, I only get 2 Values and the 1 Color. Do you know what may be the problem?
    Cheers! 😊

      I'm not sure why this might be but one thought would be the version of the software. Can you tell me what version you are using please?

      @@blenderbitesize hi there! i am using blender 3.5.1!

    • @blenderbitesize
      @blenderbitesize  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @Kerrifique Thank you. I know there have been a couple of changes to nodes between v3, which I was using and v3.5 so will need to recreate this in v3.5 to see if anything is different now. I'll get back to you.

    • @blenderbitesize
      @blenderbitesize  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Kerrifique Hello again. I have now reconstructed this in Blender 3.5.1 and the reduction in the number of inputs is just fine.
      Blender is using the number of unique inputs into the group, rather than the number of times it is used within the group.
      To me this is better and neater. It also makes no difference to the shader results.
      Hope this helps.

    for some reason when i go into render display my gem doesnt appear to be visible as its reflecting off the world material

    • @blenderbitesize
      @blenderbitesize  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Always difficult to diagnose with so many variables but you might want to check the visibility settings of the object to begin.

  • @mehcaqueen

    Mine stays clear no matter what the color is set to :( also what backface blend mode do you use

    • @blenderbitesize
      @blenderbitesize  ปีที่แล้ว

      I am unclear why this would be if you have followed the tutorial exactly. As far as I know, I don not have any backface blend modes active as the checkbox is deselected however they are both selected as "opaque". Perhaps double check all of the connections and settings and see if that highlights any errors.

      @@blenderbitesize Hey, render properties, screen space reflections checked and refraction checked helped me. Very new, not sure why this is the case but i just found the solution in some forums. Also I had a number of issues i eventually fixed so im not really even sure if this is specifically what fixed it, but thats the main thing i remember.
