The T-wing isnt disappearing... the size difference is dependent on the width of the spool for the most part, but I've noticed some size changes based on the distance from the spool to the line guide as well. I think Daiwa is adjusting the size for every specific model. However, I think they realized the original T wing was probably over sized as well and decided to tighten things up in comparison to something like the T3.
What is often not considered in reel gear ratio choice is line diameter. In most reel specifications it posts line recovery per-turn of the reel. It might use line diameter or say 14-pound line for example. If you use smaller diameter line the reel slows use larger the reel increase line recovery. Next; the spool diameter and width of the spool is another consideration as well. Bigger diameter spools put more line back on the reel per-turn than small diameter ones can. Wide spools decrease in diameter less on long casts than narrow spool reels. This improves speed and reduces inconsistent line recovery. This means slow big spools with lower ratios often retrieve line as fast as or faster than tiny lightweight reels with small spools and high gear ratios do. To test this theory pull out 150-feet of line and count the turns it takes to bring it back to the tip of the rod. High speed gear ratios only tell you how many times the spool turns for one turn of the reel handle. Line recovered in inches is tested with a full spool of line. Things are not always what they might seem.
That reel does look sexy! Throwing trout magnets with the Calcutta conquest BFS stock spool isn't really hard for me. That probably has a lot to do with the 4lb fireline crystal I have on it, which has diameter of 1lb mono.
Ive actually never tried tossing a trout magnet on the Aldebaran or Conquest BFS... always thought the spools were too heavy.. I may have to try it out some day
✍🏽Great company to buy from; I saw a hand written "thank you so much" wrote on the inside of the box. Nice touch, I will definitely be buying from them.✌🏾
You have to do a video about the Abu Garcia revo ALC BF7 bait finesse reel from Abu. I saw some people throwing 1g lures around with it like it's nothing
I definitely like mine, big size difference compared to previous alphas platform. Compared to steez air, alphas is more controlled in my opinion which I prefer. I have hedgehog type r spool pin remover and it fits inside these small spools...if you're are interested in adding bearings, you can add 4 under handle knobs and 2 under worm gear for total of 12, same like Steez air ( one of the ways Daiwa makes reels salt compatible is by removing bearings from these places).
Ok nice, Ill pick up one of those spool bearing removers. There was just a fraction of in and out play in the knobs but I didnt notice it until I checked, but its very smooth out of the box.
Nice to see someone besides Shimano finally delivered for you. I like the hidden fasteners, Diawa's look is a little dated in my opinion. Do the top shelf baitcasters of the big 3 Shimano, Diawa & Abu come stock with full ceramic or hybrid ceramic bearings?
damn... i wasnt expecting you will get alphas air tw after you cancel to buy steez air😅😅😅... please for next video will be focusing on the casting distance... nice vid thou...
The price went up....but the country of origin went down! 😂 For the record, I’ve been to both Japan and Thailand and while absolutely, the manufacturing isnt nearly as prestigious as japan or the us...some of the warmest, most beautiful souls I’ve ever met were Thais. A+ people...neutral manufacturing....
I have no problems personally about where a product is made as long as it works :) People who know business realize that moving production to a "cheaper" country isnt to save the consumer money, but to increase the profit margin lol
Have you think about throwing a near to zero gram lure (or just the hook and 2cm soft plastic lure)? Or try to throw the line without any lure. The weight of a line play an important role. So when the lure getting less and less weight, not necessaries the spool must have most light/diameter weight in order to throw far.
Video was excellent. Certainly opened my eye to tech and spec. I have a Abu Garcia black max (£50) which I use for perch and chub. It works okay. But I want something with a bit more “finesse and style” for the pleasure. Any advice ? I love this Daiwa Air Alpha tw reel but is it overkill for perch? And will it throw one gramme lures? Thanks
Not digging all the plastic in the new bfs reels wonder if those plastic side plates would be points of grime entry i fish my bfs shit like wal mart gear lol been trying to decide between another ALDEBARAN CONQUEST or this one. ??
Price wise maybe yes. My 14 conquest has taken direct shots on rocks (scared the metal frame even) kept on ticking. I still use it. it slings 2 gram hard time minnows better than anything except the 16 aldebaran and really it just does better in the wind. The plastic really worries me. I wade and kayak a lot. Between me falling and traveling in trucks and yaks reels can take a beating. Not to mention sand mud and what not. Hell my presso even took a fall with me and cracked a rock. Scarred the mag frame and side plate. Still operational. Might just get another Aldebaran. I cant decide. :(
Steez air same spool as this already casting 0.5 grams soft plastics. XD. Ktf spool to this is casting 0.3 grams and with the new 3.6 gram spool from roro you already blown the competition away.
@@THEREELTEST yes. Try to get that new roro for the air as well. It is a matter of spool size determining the performance now. 3.6 grams for a 32 mm spool aldebaran is super light but then it also become very fragile as well. Base on some math calculations interms of rotational intertia the new roro steez air spool is dangerously low inertia.
Bass Kingdom Huh? I live all the way over on the east coast....the other side of the planet from japan and it never takes much more than a week for me. Just a couple weeks ago, during this whole virus debacle, I bought an engetsu that took just over a week to get here. If you live in a smaller town area, that might explain it. I’ve noticed that sometimes it takes a bit longer for things to work their way through the system to get in and out of smaller towns down south, out west, etc.
THE REEL TEST when did you order yours? I just tried to place and order hopefully it doesn’t get cancelled since it says they’re no longer shipping them to the US...

Even 3 years later the Alphas Air is still amazing. I can do so much with it in fresh and saltwater fishing.:)
Thank you bro for putting me on to these Japanese tackle stores. I love JDM
Beautiful spool holy smokes its amazing

Thank you, excellent video! When we will see battle results between Aldebaran bfs, Revo ltx bf8 and Alphas Air TW :)?
Imagine they (Daiwa) come out with the custom stream version of this reel in green that would be dope
Your Thinking , great idea me thinks maate 🐡
They did
@@nathanngo6577 not this body frame though

Good baitcasting reel for tide fishing !

Wanz Xlayer not the prettiest reel but the performance cant be disputed

he already did with the upgraded version bf8 afaik.Still it cant beat aldebaran.
@@InfinityFishing its not an upgraded version, its just a different reel. Many people say the ALC-BF7 is a lot better than the bf8 one
I think the BF8 and BF7 have been discontinued already? They are out of stock pretty much everywhere. They have a new LTZ coming

The MGXTreme has stock hybrid ceramics.
Pure luck with that Jackhammer. It just won the Bassmaster Classic in that color and has been near impossible to find.
Oh really? lol wow didnt know that.. I dont follow tournament fishing much but I thought it was a special Vision 110 that won it?
THE REEL TEST that did too, in combination with that color of the Jackhammer

being almost half the price of the Steez Air it was a no brainer for me to try the new spool :)
it would be great to see you do an in depth review of the Z2020. Greetings from Malaysia, cheers.
t-wing line guide is equally proportionate to spool size. it's not "shrunk" as you claim -- the spool on the alphas air tw is smaller.
Other than being cheaper and saltwater friendly in what ways is this reel superior to the steez air? I’m Trying to decide which one to get, thanks
Which is the best reel the Gekkabjin or the alphas air and scorpion bfs
Woooww . Best reel

That's funny that you get gifted the hardest/impossible to find color jackhammer in the US. The Japanese must not have the shortage.
Have you heard anything about the alphas stream custom are they going to do any work on the old one green and silver reel
When did you order your jackhammer? Tried this morning but they said they’re not shipping them to the US. Am I missing something?
It was a free gift from the shop. I didnt know that it was a hot item lol
do you think you'll ever review sixgill gear? the braking system on the new cyclone is pretty cool

Can you do a review on the Shimano Calcutta Conquest bfs roro spool? Or the aldebaran 16 bfs

Thailand
Why such a fast gear ratio? For trout- I would prefer a 6.2:1 ratio. I will have to wait then...
