- It takes alot to impress me when it comes to BFS reels but the new Black Knight 2 definitely does that!

Thx for sharing my unboxing vid of the 1st gen reel! Everything looked good for the OG BK, but quality was so not consistent. a fan sent me a crazy new one that had two issues lol.. spool pin didn't stay put and the damn front falls off constantly :O
RaWr said in his casting video that the lefthanded bK 1 had the breaks all mixed up... since i want to get a lefthanded my questions is: Is that case with the v2 as well? Maybe you have some inside on that? would be nice if you could answer that in the casting video of the bk v2. (even if you have the righthanded one)

@@christophschank1780 Im not sure about RH vs LH magnetism but I figured the spool diameter vs brake hub distance may have been different vs the GH100

Got the Black Knight version 1, right handed version. To me, the brakes work great and I can get down to 2grams with some distance. Sucks the left hand version was so bad. Thanks for reviewing version 2. Can’t wait to see the battle test vs the Daiwa alpha air👍
Thanks for another great video! Watching you is getting expensive 😂😂but keep up the great work you are doing for bfs fishing. I have the first version so I'd be interested in watching your casting video for sure. Wondering if the spool from the second would fit in the first?

Quality information once again. It's always enjoyable getting new perspective on bfs equipment. FYI Tailwalk has a new bfs reel out. They teamed up with Avail and added a unique magnetic brake system in addition to one of their spools. Looks pretty decent. I have the original model that uses a very simple centrifugal brake system and it does well. Could be worth a look.
I spoke to Tailwalk a couple of years ago and they didnt feel the market was big enough to send me one of the Fullrange BF8s. Im aware of the Avail spooled ones and watched some Japanese vids on them but the magnetic brakes turn me off
I bought one too.
It is labeled 10+1BB, but the handle knob was a plastic bushing, not a BB.
Other than that, I generally like it.
Hi, very nice video as always! I wonder if you've had any comments on left handed Aliexpress reels that use the Shimano dynamic spool braking system. While the right handed versions are true copies in design and function of Shimano, the left handed versions use the same right handed design which results in the braking effect affecting the spool differently. Shimano mirrors the design on their reels so that the braking forces affect the spool the same regardless of left or right hand versions. The GH100 or the Black Knight 1-2 uses the right handed brake design on the left handed reels, so while the right handed has an increased dynamic braking at the rear by raising as the spool releases line, the left handed versions will have the increase of braking at the front (reversed braking pattern). I'm curious if you have received any comments of any inconsistency in the braking of the spool or distance lengths because of this fact. Thanks.
Nice vid.. appreciate the info about 2019 for those that weren't around it paying attention.. definitely when cdm jumped into the bfs game for real... Hopefully these three reels are just the beginning to what's coming... I'm with you and already believe that Shimano has a new Aldebaran already developed and just waiting for a reason to put it out since nobody has truly topped the 2016 yet... I'd also bet there's a few prototype reels with different size spools but same weight and I'm already guessing Shimano knows which is better 28 or 32 or 34 for overall bfs..
I think the Conquest 50 had like a 30 or 31 mm spool. But Shimano may not even care about casting anything as light as 1 gram, they tend to do their own thing.

Thanks for doing a video on the black knight 2. I've had mine for about 3 months now and I can say I like it better than my pw100 and zephyr. I have a left hand retrieve. The breaks seem alittle weak but it casts the 1/64oz trout magnet farther and smoother than the other 2 reels. Thanks again
So it seems that they still have the issue with poor matching for the left hand retrieve as they had in the first version.
Not sure about that. The breaks work, just seems like they should be alittle stronger. Even with what seems like weak breaks I still choose it over the pw100 and zephyr when it comes to throwing my lightest lures
Does anyone have a fix or upgrade to left hand version breaks?

@@davidblevins1027 the thing is, with the previous ftb copy reels, they seem to have copied the brakes from a right hand reel without understanding how they work - so they installed right handed brakes in left hand reels (the brakes don't move during the cast in the left hand versions). You will be able to check whether you have left handed brakes in your reel; for each bank of magnets, the spring should be clockwise of the pivot - this is the mirror image of the right hand brakes. Get back to us with your findings, please.

Thank you for such profound and updated review, you are more professional than most fishing bloogers here in China. probably we will source the Kyorim Black Knight 2. The Lurestar c9, Black knight, ELFISH reel are from the same OEM factory, and now the factory begins launch itself brand.
What is their brand name?

wished it came with micro bearings, but at least it's ceramic hybrids! should perform super nice with that low eight spool! hope the brakes will work better than it's predecessor! i can't wait to see the casting!

The spool bearings are smaller than average, not greased up either. I got too many reels to test, to little time!

If Kingdom offers me one, but since that reel is mostly the GBC200(which I have reviewed and its garbage), Id have to see some video footage to see if they fixed the weak brakes

Curado bfs will fit that bill imo
Curado BFS for proven Shimano quality.
I'm wondering if the differences in weight are from your scale being off a little. Did you calibrate it before you weighed these objects?
Its accurate, probably more so than my other scales

Hi. What you think about brake system for right and left hand? Any people say, that reel with left hand have brake system from reel with right hand and therefore this brake system work incorrectly.
Tsurinoya just came out with the Dark Wolf 50S, supposedly has a spool weight of 6.1g with bearing. You might want to check it out, looks like an almost identical copy of the Black Knight 2, lol!

What line would you recommend using on this reel? I was thinking about using WTF Gliss but I've read it doesn't work very well on Baitcasters.
do they still sell gliss? based on my casting this reel I would say braid lol.. because the brakes seem a bit weak
The Tsurinoya Dark Wolf Ultra 135g with a spool weighing 6.1g inclusive of bearing is out for sale in Aliexpress 😁 This, if according to the BK2 bearing weight would put the spool at 5.24g...🤔😜

If I was fishing for trout, 2-4lb flourocarbon. For bass, 6-8lb flourocarbon

Great desk review, looking forward to see your casting tests. Also just got mine and tested it 1/2 hours or so. It cast a 1 gram plug pretty easy and accurate, maybe a bit better than the Alphas Air and Aldebaran. And yes I can confirm the reel and spool weight. The click drag is much smoother than the Micro Hyper, just as the Alderbaran, but not as loud and exciting. The spool frame tolerance is like the Hyper but not as good as the Air and Aldebaran. The retrieve feel solid, smooth and with very low resistance. All in all this reel has got the best from the Alderbaran and Air. Only better tolerance and BFS oiled steel micro bearing is missing.

@@Fishing_for_Fishies well this would be my only bfs baitcaster but I usually use an ultralight paired with a 1000 abu and I love that set up but I can cast this farther than my ultra light spinning gear for sure
@@HAHAGURL Ah I see. I got my first bfs reel about a month ago and I'm already thinking about upgrading. No doubts that this new Black knight reel will be a better caster/overall package than my Zephyr
@@Fishing_for_Fishies it was a hard decision for my between this and the zephyr I felt like the Zephyr was gonna be a better purchase just because it's been out longer it has better components but I'm definitely not disappointed with the one I chose
@@HAHAGURL Can't have gone wrong either way, didn't regret my purchase either! Just wish it casted lures under 3 grams better (tends to trail off to one side). Waiting on some ceramic bearings, hopefully they help

@@yep.fishing Yes, mine was left handed model. It worked okay for a bit then the drag knob stopped working completely and probably the braking system too. Pretty much unusable at this point. I've since moved on to better reels from Shimano and Diawa. Their offering while more expensive are miles better than this reel. Kastking Kestrel Elite and Shimano SLX BFS could be had for around $150 and are way better. 22 Aldebaran and 23 Conquest are buttery smooth and quiet while the 21 GekkaBijin AIR TW PE is super easy and forgiving. If I was on a budget and could only have one beginner reel it would be the Kestrel or SLX BFS at $150.

they already have, the Cardiff 50DC came out in 2009. It was hugely expensive, like $800. Its been discontinued for years but still sell for over $1000 used. Ive seen a NIB for over $2000. I was tempted lol

This black Knigth 2 does not have 11 bearings as in the description, the crank knob bearings and the endless shaft are plastic bushings, the brand lied about having 11 bearings, in addition to the anti-reverse are thick and not thin rollers, whoever bought it is complaining that there is a problem with the spool.

Mathematically this spool will not > than the alpha air spool even though the weight is lighter. However it is impressive that they were able to do 30mm. Tbh i thought shimano will do 30mm for their new bfs but they dissapointed me.
There are avail spool that weighs 4.5 grams at 31mm. They still not performing at same level as alpha air in the 1 gram department. If shimano wants to best beat daiwai they will have to do 30mm at 4 gram or 4.5 gram. Ftb
If they wanted to beat Daiwa throwing 1 gram they can easily. The question is, do they care about BFS casting 1 gram?
@@THEREELTEST not with throwing out all these bfs curado, slx but with 2016 tech spec. They may not care about the 1 gram. Bfs enthusiasts market care because we know that a 1 gram capable reel can cast a 1-2 gram lure further and more accurate than a 2 gram capable reel.
@@zajdabneeg oh and my Aldebaran BFS with Avail spool cast 1 gram farther than my Alphas Air TW by 5-8 feet.

Looks gimmicky...only reason i considered it was the TBS breaking system
