Overall a great effort to give us a quality BFS reel with high specifications to take on Japans best, they just need to improve the quality control and consistency for the price they are asking.

Just wanted to let you know that you can fix the drag issue by changing the spring that holds the clicker pin in place. I used a spring from a Nintendo switch joycon trigger. It's not as audible but it's very smooth.
I've just received this reel and I have the same spool weight as yours, 6.4g. I also seem to have all the niggles that you have with the drag and the star, also I noticed when I was changing the spool bearing for Roro ones I could push the pin out with my fingers🤨, i pushed it back in just as easy too. I haven't managed to use the reel yet but definitely agree that the QC could be a lot better.
Thanks for the shout out - I'd say that the drag click seems way smoother on my particular reel. That said, of course a differentiator between Japanese reels and this one could be inter-batch consistency? The same comment would apply to the drag star adjustment which feels better on mine than what it looks like on the video here.
Perhaps the one Fishband sent to me originally would have been a better example, but either way, a reel costing $150 better be consistent from reel to reel.

Paul even compared it with Alphas Air TW 20s, Aldebarans, Millionaires, Conquests those are all 350+ dollars reels.
According Our test, This reel is 20grams lighter than Curado bfs, cast small lure longer than Curado BFS. That's enough I think as it's much cheaper than Curado BFS
Thanks for another excellent review. This reel was first released in the UK if I'm not mistaken. I was going to order it till I saw the price which was over $180.00 Canadian. Decided to invest in the Aldebaran 16 Bfs and the Diawa Alphas Air TW which I'm really happy with. Would love to see it casting and compared to them.

This is a company that makes nice low cost BFS reels that perform pretty good. You can buy their reels on Aliexpress brother
Have had my Hyper Micro on the water a couple times now and it hasn't disappointed. Have caught several multi-pound bass that pulled drag on the .16 mm line w/o issue. I can pretty much cast as low as with my Aldebaran BFS XG with Avail spool. I paid for the Avail spool alone what the Fishband reel cost, $110. Far better low weight performance than the Zephyr.

@@bayanrianatarubaiah8103 absolutely. Zephyr is a good entry level BFS reel but the Hyper Micro is closer to the high end reels.

My clamber has a spool weight of 7.7g with bearings. The dragclicker also runs more smoothly than your reel. The PW100Pro (with bearing upgrade) was a long-throwing monster with very good brakes. It is the same with the Clamber! Conclusion: Great look, good feel (I love the aluminum body) and great throwing properties even under 2g and that with the original bearings! im from the UK and i have Owned and used this reel since december 2020 and i cannot say one bad thing about it at all i have been casting Sub 3g with no issues using the correct rod combination you really can use this reel in many ways i will be uploading a review on this Reel myself as i think i have used it for long enough now i have a pretty good Opinion aswell as plenty of experience with it ! love your video here it surley does show off what a great Reel it is out the box !

I have my curado bfs arriving Wednesday, very excited. My 1st BFS. I don't have this fishban in hand, but personally I'd spend more for smoothness and (I'm assuming given build quality control) longevity.
I stayed away from them cheap bfs
I agree if you can afford the mainstream brands then go for it.
One cosmetic improvement that would cost nothing is to get a better match between the "cherry" red of the handle nut retainer and the rest of the red accents. The discrepancy makes the reel look cheap.
Could the difference in weights between your reel's spool and Paul's be the difference in the scales' accuracy?
I've had mine for a few months now. Purchased it on a link from Fishing Discoveries channel. Added some Roro bearings and I must say its very impressive. Its every bit the reel my Alphas Air, Shimano BFS XG, and any of the other multiple BFS reels I own. I was hoping you would review this reel. Hope you enjoy it as much as I have. Great vids👍👍

The anti-loose security plate’s screw on the handle’s main shaft is screwed directly into the carbon. No brass treated insert. PW100 has it. I know... it is just a small rock but it weighs on the price tag. ;)

It's certainly a great looking reel. On Aliexpress it sells for just under $200 aus which seemed a lot. Thankyou for reviewing this reel, I am going to have to get it. I use my PW100 a lot. I recently purchased the Piscifun Alloy M which you might find interesting as it is a very low profile reel looks very similar to the Shimano Bantam and Daiwa Alphas 22 SV TW for under $100. It's a very light reel.

I was sold on it until you showed the drag star play and the drag clicker shaking the entire reel they also need to improve the clutch bar

More than likely this reel will easily best the Curado BFS in casting, but Ill test it out to make sure of course

My clicker is smooth on the reel that I purchased and the drag star seems better than your example as well. But I do agree the refinement is still a little lacking overall. But it fishes well and feels good in hand when on the water overall.

Nice reel and review! For the difference on spool weight - can it be down to the scales you use? Are they precise? In my case I use scales that measure up to the 1/100 rather than 1/10.
well I just weighed the spool of my Scorpion BFS, its the same as its been on my other scales... 8.8 grams

Good review, but I am over the whole CDM BFS scene. Quality varies from reel to reel, AliExpress is full of rip off artists (you really don't think the "tax" you paid on this purchase was legit do ya?), and the JDM brands are on there way with BFS to the USDM with stuff that will actually encourage the market. I sold my PW100 and my GH100 after one trip out with my Curado BFS. I also have a Zephyr and the Curado is far and away superior to any CDM reel I've tried.
Well as Ive always said, the budget Aliexpress bfs reels were never meant to steal sales from the JDM reels, they are to let people who cant afford the JDM reels get into bait finesse.
@@THEREELTEST from that perspective your assessment is correct, each CDM reel I tried was rather poor, but just good enough to keep me and a bunch of others interested. Shimano is investing and I hope a few others follow.
@@csmith0921 Shimano is bringing bfs reels that are still ~$200 to the US. For a lot of us that's still outside of our price range. I'd love to see them or another big brand, especially Abu Garcia as I have a bit of a soft spot for their reels, bring a bfs reel to the US for under $100 I'm not going to hold my breath.

hey I got the zephyr for my first bfs reel and I have the slx dc and u no I thought the DC reel was bad ass and what's crazy is stocc bearings on zephyr tell me why it outs casts my DC reel that's spent a good price on from AliExpress which cheaper than here in states and that's with a lite lure zephyr does and if put a kastmaster on DC I get where zephyr does maybe Lil past by just a lil but I put different bearings on zephyr whips DC reels so don't no how curado bfs is far superior so wouldnt be all crazy saying that love this man show helps me with reels to buy and with ones I might want to buy to and not to buy thank for ur show man so awesome helps me out u and ur family have good Xmas and stay safe

My theory as to why this reel doesn’t have Shimano’s FTB braking system is due to the reel being designed in Korea (presumably South Korea)....The point being that although China does not recognise international design patents, South Korea definitely does!!!
So therefore, a Korean design company could not include a patented design without being almost certainly sued into oblivion by Shimano...
Not 100% certain, but It would certainly make sense, especially considering the success of the PW100 w/ the FTB system...
6.4 grams vs approx 6.2 is around a 3% difference. If you measured all your spools on a different scale then you will get different weights. What is the resolution of your scale vs the other one? All your weights go to the tenths place that means that there is a decent amount of rounding and loss of accuracy. I doubt your scale has ever been calibrated, that means that as time goes on the results may become varied. These are all things you need to take into account.
This means there is likely no real measurable or significant difference between the two spools. Also realistically what is the real practical difference between a few 1/10s of a gram. Even one gram. Everyone is fixated on getting the lightest spool but no one looks into what difference in weight between two spools actually gives a performance advantage.
How many tests have you done to come to the conclusion that a 1 gram heavier spool for BFS is not that big a deal?

I said no one has done these tests and we don't know what the minimum weight difference between two spools that actually provides a performance benefit. It could be 0.5 g it could be 1 g or even more.
Not to mention that looking at weight is just a singular metric that does not even come close to telling the whole story. You have to look at diameter, width and overall balance of the spool. Saying a spool is better cause it weights less pretty deceptive unless you look at the other factors that determine a spools performance.

To me it isn't worth $150.... but I'm sure they will sell a ton of em. If I'm gonna spend over $100 I'd rather just get jdm. At that point it loses the budget appeal ya know.
True to some degree... but as I said, they were aiming for the top reels with this one, not just the budget JDM BFS reels.
The only JDM BFS reel that compares in price is the Roxani BF8 and that reel has a stupid heavy spool for BFS.
Wow for that price I'd rather go for Slx BFS
The SLX will be made better for sure but the Clamber might easily outperform it

Hey I’m looking to get into bfs but I need a rod will any old medium light rod work or do I need a specific rod
I would think it depends on how low you want to go in lure weight. "Any old medium light rod" would probably struggle to go below 1/8oz (3.5g) while a true BFS rod will let you cast a 1g lure when paired with a BFS reel.

Chinese reels can be good. However, not many Chinese companies will put too much technology and efforts to freshwater baitcasters. Because there are no bass nor snake heads people can fish there. The only fish in lake and rivers are carps. However, there are smaller spices one can catch with these BF techniques. But it’s not fun at all.

Hello ...i was expecting that the spool to weigt less than 8 gr..on description they sad the spool is7.7 gr..and overal the reel it musch expensive...i remove the bearing of my pw 100 plus and put the roro bearing and the spool weight 7.5gr now...so i have a reel that weigt 140gr with the spool 7.5 gr and a lot cheaper ..and the performance will be better then clamber
