    I don’t understand why we need cameras on a garage door opener. All I want is for it to last longer than 3 years and be relatively quiet. I think I’m done with Craftsman.

      LiftMaster is trying to enter into the home security market - they make cameras, floodlights, etc that all integrate to MyQ. If you ask me, their quality control has gone downhill since they've split their focus. They're a garage door opener company and should stick to making openers.

      A camera is nice bc you can make sure your door is closed even when you're not home and since the opener is an IOT device, you can close it remotely too

    Nice video. I'll be honest...I had a LiftMaster 8165 chain drive opener installed last year and I'm totally fine with a basic machine that doesn't have any bells and whistles. It's been reliable so far and it wasn't terribly expensive as far as a professionally installed unit is concerned.

    A poll of 35 people is not a poll at all - sampling size is minuscule and therefore unreliable. What I really don’t understand is how the typical retail customer can answer a question about which motor he liked “best in 2022”. How many does a typical customer actually experience - ONE? I like your video and especially your personality and presentation style but the logic of your methodology truly escapes me.

    What garage motor would you recommend for a wooden garage door 16X7?

    No offense, but the survey is flawed. No one buys multiple of these options. So if they are voting for one, it is likely that they bought one. Is it possible that more individuals bought the cheaper Chamberlain model and therefore are voting for it? It is almost as though the questions should be for each model. Did you buy this model, would you buy it again? Of course you can say they had the option to buy whichever model they wanted, but often comes down to the price they wanted to pay. Great idea! But really ended up asking which one was most bought, not really which was one "Best"

      No offense taken! This a great perspective. In years past I have done these 'best of' videos based on my experience. I do have an opinion on them. The truth is most of my findings were based of the FB group that I am a member of. In video I didn't share the comments from the dealers in the industry, but the consensus was LiftMaster their choice of motor. In the case of the TH-cam stats, the numbers were all I had to work with. At any rate, the idea of the video was to share what viewers thought the best motor was based on their opinion. Thank you for your feedback!

      Absolutely a valid observation - this survey isn’t a survey at all. It’s too small and it requires participants to have a simultaneous experience with multiple products which they do not have. Glad someone else pointed this out.

    I am looking for a new garage door opener. My biggest requirement is mechanical parts reliability. I don't want any plastic or nylon gears. I want steel or brass all the way. Not looking for fancy options. Please recommend the most reliable motor. Thank you.

      Hello. Thank you for the question.
      Can you tell me what type of garage door the opener will operate?
      What brand of garage door opener do you own now?
      Which garage door opener brands are you familiar with?

    • @fredko3001
      @fredko3001 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      1. There is no garage door opener now. 2. It will be a simple 4 panel 24 awg steel door, no windows, no insulation. 3. I heard of many brands of garage door openers, I do not have preference. 4. I just figured out that I can use wall mount openers only because I have nothing to support from the ceiling and I do not have electricity in the center of the garage.@@sosgds

      @@fredko3001 Excellent! My suggestion for a garage door opener would be the Genie 6170 or the Guardian 982. At the moment I can't recommend 98022 just because of how sensitive the opener is without the cable tension monitor.

    Does that 8500W use a DC motor? And do any of these new (last few years) motors support HomeLink?

    • @sosgds
      @sosgds  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Hello. Yes the 8500 is a DC motor. The updated model is 98022. They are compatible with HomeLink on newer model vehicles.

    Genies are junk out of the box. In my opinion there’s never a easy install there. Never an easy set up. Everything is complicated unnecessarily. LiftMaster definitely has my business easy set up easy install even easier if the homeowner wanted to install go liftmaster

      I did install two Chamberlins in my garage. Did everything by myself and took me roughly two days to wire everything and such. For my first install it wasn't terrible. Though my process would have been much easier/faster with help

    • @gsxr600rafii
      @gsxr600rafii ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I completely disagree with you. I'm the exact opposite. Genie's have zero issues for us. Chamberlain is plagued with issues lately. They rattle, they have optical wheel issues, they also have wall stations that go bad. And the fact they had infringed on 5 patents from Genie, and had to stop all production and redesign every remote and circuit board should tell you something.

      @@gsxr600rafii the genie side mounts seem to be more reliable than the lift masters. Lift master regular trolley openers are good but genie has a better working side mount.
