    Yes the mentality of the people, especially the ones at the lower rung of the socioeconomic status in Jamaica going to have to change dramatically for downtown Kingston and other dirty and nasty areas of Jamaica to be redeveloped and become clean and esthetically/aesthetically pleasing again. It is truly sad, the majority of Jamaicans, and Afro peoples worldwide like to select the worst, the unrefined, the least esthetic/aesthetic, the negative, the bottom, and love to revel in it, thinking this is pleasing, I hear many Jamaicans, even bloggers rating the filthy downtown Kingston high; the cause of this, is the legacy of oppression. You are the first Jamaican blogger I see detesting this dirtiness and nastiness.

      They stay where the customer are it's not that they preferred the dirty area it's up to the government to clear that old unsanitary area and relocate them. In mass .they ain't going to an area where there's no large amount of customer
      For Thier business. They can't afford to subsidised their income until they get customer in large quantities

    • @owenferguson7893
      @owenferguson7893 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You said that they have to change Thier mentality for the area to become cleaned
      So .those people just come and sell its up to the council and government to clean up the are in a proper way. In wealthy area its not the shop owners who keep the place clean and modern
      It's the council and money

    • @owenferguson7893
      @owenferguson7893 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Wealthy business people can select the best area
      So it's not because they are cleaned people. It's not worse than some places in India Bangladesh Pakistan
      Even Chinese cities Untill the government destroyed them just 20 years ago.
      That's what needs to be done in Jamaica. Don't blame those people.
      40 billion from this year budget should do it. Like the 40 billion for the spark project for road from last year budget.

      @@owenferguson7893I don't think you know the mentality of the people the blogger and I are talking about, you could give them a brand new downtown Kingston tomorrow, and the next day it becomes broken, trashy and unsanitary again. Example you know the guys who piss in every and any corner, the people who just throw trash anywhere, they feel; the stay animals, such as dogs, goats and pigs, the unruliness, having no respect for the authority, also having no respect for established businesses that are 'brick and mortar' locations, the ones that are paying taxes and contributing to the upkeep of downtown Kingston. In any truly developed nations, the people that does these things you see the vendors do in downtown Kingston are normally drugs addicts, and Hobos/street people, these are not normal behaviours. Last year I travelled to Jamaica, and while at the airport outside of Jamaica, this Jamaican lady was in line and waited for her turn to come up, however when she got to Jamaica, she saw it fit to cut people in line, this is a criminal mentality, bullying when you feel there will be no consequences; also I went rafting on a popular river in Jamaica, and the captain of the raft threw the package of some snack he was eating in the river, I had to get on his case for doing that. Thus the mentality going to have to change. One don't need to be rich to be clean, tidy and sanitary. These people must understand that Jamaica needed to be taken care of collectively, it is not up to governments and individuals only. Yes the governments can help however the people are the ones that must change, it is not what the nation can do for you, it is what can you do to help the nation develop, thus the mentality must change.

    Like other projects, downtown is still not being properly thaught about. First of all...all thise skyscrapers going up all over the city should be first concentrated downtown, improving the city's skyline inwards out, n not outwards in. Downtown has not been given first priority in real city planning like what we've seen in other parts of the city. A downtown of any city is the core of that city, n should be given first priority.

    That bus park failed due to improper plamning by the developers and government....a bus park has to be centralized like the half way tree bus park...they need to have the buses coming in from the rural and outer city limit areas to this park and have buses that transfer them to other parts of kingston ..u cant build a bus park at the bottom of the city and simply ask the commuters to figure out how to get to and from it....that was just bad planning.....they should have done consultation with experts from outside of jamaica...

    My question is where are the buses that this park was built to accomodate loading their passengers if they are not doing it here....these leaders in ja are just very incompetent...and u see it in all aspects of the society....give an outsider the same budget to manage the country and we would be pleasantly surprised to see the the difference....and thats with the same budget which is the most important thing to note

    This project can still work with a bit of improvements and efforts from the authorities. A more modern Transport Hub that progressively improves over time, therefore not wasting the already invested $$:
    1. The Canopies is a joke in itself ...
    Create a wide middle island (pavement) running all the way down through the middle of the area that can accomodate a mass of commuters during rush hours - enabling them to stand, walk, and possibly sit ... weather factors (sun and rain - that facilitates e.g. elderly, disabled, sick, etc ) - should have basic weather protection (high roof, hurricane resistant structures, etc).
    2. Have the authorities create Shuttle or Loop Bus Services that supports coverage of the traditional shopping points (within e.g. a 5 mile radius).
    Create 2 sections ...
    1. Loop for Round-Town; and
    2. The other section for Out of Town ... Incoming and out bound Transports.
    Commuters should be able to *safety walk across each area without the risk of having high accidents - getting lick down due to some unfortunate situation.
    3. Create another vehicular drop-off point just outside of the Main Terminal, to include an adjoining Taxi Terminal (smaller, but similar design - across the road).
    4. Have the Transport Authorities - redirect the Busses to have scheduled pick-ups and drop-off there ... end of story! They should incorporate the local police to assist in this area. No parking, no stopping, stopping zones, etc.
    Build and operate nearby Public Parking and 🚻 restroom facilities. These can be done by re zoning and the offering of contractual tenders and agreements - private and public investments that work for the people.
    5. Maintain the area properly - General Cleanliness, the enforcing very strict and orderly routine or controlled boarding and exiting - maintains personal spacing distance. These are basic Safety precautions which is necessary and in the Publics best interests.
    We used to join lines for JOS, so why can we do it anymore??? ... indiscipline and unhealthy behavioral issues.
    Enforcing may be necessary to bring back the order, thus providing safety.
    6. The other areas will benefit for the ease in traffic congestion, thus allowing for revitalization and modern redevelopment. The economic benefits are huge if done correctly. A win/win for Kingston and the Jamaican people as a whole.
    They need to get this right ... downtown Kingston can't remain like that in this modern day and age of time.
    Buy up all those abandoned land spaces .. and put them to better use in the process.
    Also, redesign the entire inner Space that holds the Supreme Court ... that's for a different discussion. 😊 The whole Square could be re developed into a Central Justice Center ... utilizing and rebuilding a modern structure that complements the old and existing buildings - Courthouse and Old Post 🏤 Office with a walking Courtyard ... with King Street running through the middle.
    The Loop Busses and Re Zoning efforts would facilitate this bold futuristic vision - that can accommodate tourists.
