A few comments to make. I got Air New Zealand gold through status match last month. Hence the lounge and free Space+ seat :) Arriving into Australia was fairly simple. We were told to remain seated once the seatbelt sign in off. The crew said we had to wait for the police or something to give us the approval to leave. This is probably so we don’t mix with travellers not within the green zone/travel bubble. After about 10 mins we were allowed to disembark. Immigration was as per usual (as in pre-COVID). Same as customs, no COVID related questions or interviews. No temperature checking as well. Look into the Mount Erebus disaster. Are you willing to trust an airline that: 1. Made an egregious mistake and hide it from their pilots 2. Denied making the mistake 3. Lied about doing it to the World 4. Tried to cover it up before people uncovered it 5. When they finally admitted making the mistake tried to explain it away as just an error 6. Air New Zealand’s flight attendants are really so friendly. They’re equally friendly to the economy passengers as they are to first class. The food is also amazing. Definitely one of my favourite airlines.
Yep, lollies at the end of a flight are traditional for Air NZ. Helps with ear pressure on landing. Years ago a child was selected to walk the aisle to offer lollies from a basket to other passengers.

Great review as always. I can´t wait to do a trip report on Air New Zealand once they open up! The black cabin with the purple lighting looks so much more sophisticated than blue or brown. NZ is my dream destination, besides Iceland.
Hi Jayden. I bet you have many of us jealous with this video. Leaving Australia for a quick trip and back across the ditch, and not getting caught in any snap lockdowns !😂 The last ( and only ) time I was in Queenstown was 1976. I had flown from Melbourne to Christchurch to do a bus tour around both islands. It was also my first trip overseas and my first time flying. While in Queenstown, I went on a sightseeing flight in the tiniest Cessna I think existed ! I was okay...until it was time to land the plane. The pilot switched everything OFF, and glided in onto a grass runway ! Air New Zealand was great to fly then, they have always had a great reputation. Those Airbus 321 engines sure sound different and quieter to a 737.
My tip is to have a short getaway, not long! So less likely to get stuck overseas or in another state haha! The landing you had in Queenstown sounded heaps fun! I almost flew Air New Zealand in 2014 from Hong Kong to Heathrow. We flew Cathay instead and the same year, Air NZ ceased that route. So glad I finally flew with them! Thanks Heather :)
I was on Bamboo A321neo yesterday and the standard legroom was really good thanks to the thin seats. I could fit in two hands between my knees and seat pocket (i’m 5’10)
So good to see you spread your wings and fly internationally again Jayden. Glad you had such a positive experience on your first flight with Air NZ. I used to love flying with NZ but the last few times I used them I found them lacklustre and the crew disinterested, so have given them a miss in recent years. Perhaps it is time to give them another try! Look forward to your upcoming flights across the Tasman.
Mr they use paper cups for the coffee & tea & more because they help the environment and they don’t want to do dish’s cause they have a lot to do all ready
People in Queenstown are usually people from Auckland as us every day folk can't afford to go there. You won't encounter people who will say hello etc as they will think you are a tourist. There are a few cultural differences but its hard to judge from the most tourist place in NZ. I hope if you come here again it will be to other places.
Queenstown looks so amazing great trip report JW. I’ve only flown with Air NZ once (773ER) and I was so impressed with the service. And yes they always hand out candy onboard. #kiwisquad
Your flight was cheaper than flying in NZ. My sister wanted to make a quick flight from Christchurch to Palmerston North recently - the nearest airport to my home in Levin, and was quoted over $1000 return.......so she didn't bother but booked ahead 5 weeks and got a $164 return fare. Its cheaper to fly to and from Aussie here than it is to fly internally.
Wow that’s like flying between smaller cities in Australia! Cheaper to fly to NZ and Asia than flying say from Adelaide to Darwin ($300-500) one way. Thanks for watching :)
I flew with Air New Zealand in 1991 from London Gatwick to Los Angeles then to Auckland and then on to Melbourne Such a shame that Air New Zealand dont fly in to London anymore
13:28 I don't believe that entering your birthdate is tied in any way to what fare one has purchased or for verification purposes. I'm happy to be corrected. Pre-COVID, I flew AIr NZ between NZ and AU monthly and always hit "Skip" at the top right. If you didn't realise, you can log into your account and personalise your welcome screen even more to say "Welcome on board Jayden" etc for the next time you fly Air NZ.
I used seat 7B for the map and was not asked to verify. So my theory is either it was for the movie access or as it was stated on the screen, to 'access my Airpoints dollar' to purchase duty free onboard. I'll have to try to login next time, it'll be cool seeing my name on the screen! Thanks for watching :)
Oh Jayden, how clever of you to ever so slyly tells us when your next birthday will be!!!! I will be sending you a few pair of cool looking socks made In Vermont USA from ‘That Darn Tough Vermont” company. Seriously, are you old enough to drink ? Enjoy your videos too.
Amazing video! Great to see a trip report outside Australia, and also good that you sanitised your seat 😂. Queenstown airport is nice, but the city is so beautiful, so scenic, loved the takeoff view. And very lucky you got upgraded, cabin looked beautiful, indeed CFM LEAP is very quiet, but the idling was exactly like CFM56, and the spool up similar to GE90😳 The lamb at the lounge looked decent, and the food at the aircraft looked amazing, beef casserole and the brownie 😋, wish I could eat that by the screen 😂, indeed a very goNZ 1st impression of Air NZ. And itnwas so good to see the Qantas B737 beside too, Qantas and Air New Zealand, and B737 and A321 NEO 😍
yep the spooling up was definitely a highlight especially in a tiny plane like this one. The lamb was amazing, wouldn't be surprised if it was their signature dish in their lounges. thanks for watching mate!

Great review as always. I can´t wait to do a trip report on Air New Zealand once they open up! The black cabin with the purple lighting looks so much more sophisticated than blue or brown. NZ is my dream destination, besides Iceland.
I see you like somewhere cold haha! Iceland is one of my dream destinations too. Very far from where I am!
Hi Jayden.
I bet you have many of us jealous with this video. Leaving Australia for a quick trip and back across the ditch, and not getting caught in any snap lockdowns !😂
The last ( and only ) time I was in Queenstown was 1976.
Thanks Heather :)
great video! i hope to pop over the ditch sometime!
Great reviews as usual thanks Jayden. What are the standard A321Neo seats like for space for a sub 6ft person?
I was on Bamboo A321neo yesterday and the standard legroom was really good thanks to the thin seats. I could fit in two hands between my knees and seat pocket (i’m 5’10)
Would love to see premium economy and business for air NZ, Qantas and Jetstar, and a comparison video as well.
can do!
Did this aircraft not have a Business Class section ?
correct it was all economy
Queenstown is awesome. Looks like you got some winter weather. You can actually get some much cheaper flights to Queenstown.
I booked this 2 days before I left home so it was expensive haha!
@@JaydenWong Ouch! That will do it for you. What was the highlight of Queenstown for you?
my highlight would’ve been the water taxi! The day was rough and it almost felt like a water rafting activity haha
@@JaydenWong haha. Next time you’re there, you should try White Water Rafting on a Boogie Board (I think it was called Mad Dog River Boarding).
NZ rocks!!! So beautiful
totally!!
Thanks for watching this one Pierre! I'll upload the Qantas Sydney-Queenstown next week :)
Awesome vid enjoyed it. Thanks :)
I'm glad, thank you :)
Np :)
stunning scenery on take off
indeed! Couldn't look away!
Fantastic trip report as always Jayden!!
Lily: This is MY Q & A session >:(
lolol she's the absolute cutest!!
haha thanks for watching!!
On a vid the planes look slow taking off but in reality they feel very fast and fairly bumpy
Great trip report mate! New Zealand looks so stunning especially the departure out of Queenstown. Stay safe mate 🙂
indeed it was breathtaking! Thanks for watching :D
Awesome video One World Flyer
thanks Melvin!!
Such an amazing Video 🤩🤩
Thanks Lachlan!
Queenstown looks so amazing great trip report JW. I’ve only flown with Air NZ once (773ER) and I was so impressed with the service. And yes they always hand out candy onboard.
#kiwisquad
77w😍😍 can’t wait for Air NZ to bring them back!!
OMG the interior looks really good!! Better than Qantas.
totally by miles!!!
@@JaydenWong Compare Qantas 787 and Air NZ 787, as Qantas doesnt have an A320 NEO, or 737 MAX.
Takeoff and landing in Queenstown is one of the best! 👍
100%!!
Too good Video Chief 👍
Hi jayden, did they have any in-flight magazines?
I can’t remember sorry!
@@JaydenWong that's ok , I flew with them from Queenstown as well in August 2017 to Melbourne on an A320 and there weren't any in the seat back pocket
I flew with Air New Zealand in 1991 from London Gatwick to Los Angeles then to Auckland and then on to Melbourne
Such a shame that Air New Zealand dont fly in to London anymore
totally! I almost flew them Hong Kong to London in 2014. Flew Cathay instead. Later that year they scrapped the route :(
Nice video Mate.
Thanks Noah!!!
Those engines!!!! They sound amazing!
indeed! 😍
Oh Jayden, how clever of you to ever so slyly tells us when your next birthday will be!!!! I will be sending you a few pair of cool looking socks made In Vermont USA from ‘That Darn Tough Vermont” company. Seriously, are you old enough to drink ? Enjoy your videos too.
haha I look forward to the socks! Yes I am 21 now! Even legal in USA!!
Love Air NZ and Queenstown. Great review
Hello Charles how are you doing??
thanks Charles!
NICE trip report.
Thanks Mate.🤜🤛
thanks Robert!!
This is what I like to see!
thanks Louis :)) love your profile pic
Amazing video! Great to see a trip report outside Australia, and also good that you sanitised your seat 😂. Queenstown airport is nice, but the city is so beautiful, so scenic, loved the takeoff view. And very lucky you got upgraded, cabin looked beautiful, indeed CFM LEAP is very quiet, but the idling was exactly like CFM56, and the spool up similar to GE90😳
The lamb at the lounge looked decent, and the food at the aircraft looked amazing, beef casserole and the brownie 😋, wish I could eat that by the screen 😂, indeed a very goNZ 1st impression of Air NZ.
@@JaydenWong A321 is a pretty long plane, longer than Boeing 737-900 and IL-76. Haven't watched your Emirates video, will soon 😀
Great to see a CPA plane at Sydney and a Thai flight
I agree!!
Queenstown is so beautiful ,I went skiing there a few years ago - did you try out the jet boats / water rafting ???
Yes I did shotover! It was hella fun!
@@JaydenWong indeed it is 😁
Great video like always Jayden!! Keep it up hope your well
What is the code for the 2 websites. Cashrewards and shop back
thanks buddy!
I mean link sorry! No code
Nice. I just graduated from middle school. I'm now on summer vacation.
Congratulations! Go enjoy summer :)
Congrats! Welcome to the HS clan.
Was that landing rough? Or it only looks like it..
it was quite rough!
