Had similar A330 to Cebu last month. Coming from a A350, you notice the differences. 1 thing still srands out with the A330: the 2-4-2 seating in economy. I truely like Cathay Pacific. Very professional, good food, good seating, swift check in, organised boarding.
They seem to be semi-consistent for at least the CGK-bound flights, they seem to use the A330s w/ the lieflat biz seats. Tho what's dicey is with the IFE Software on these planes. Most of the time you will get the newer one that's similar to their newer planes. Sometimes you still get the legacy software with iPod support.
flew with CX for the first time last week (TPE-HKG-KUL). I liked how up-to-date its IFE contents are (esp film & music). had my first ever Häagen-Dazs for dessert too 😆
Some challenges at the airport but nice to have the lounge. Nice that you had two extra seats beside you and the meal looked so good, but what happened at 14:00 ? 🤣 Food too hot? Great views of Hong Kong and Tung Chung! I love that country. So nice they launched fireworks for you! But what happened to the Bank of China building? It's completely blocked by this new random building.
Cathay usually uses A350 or 777 on longer flights, and A330 on shorter flights, because the A330s are less fuel milage and old, the 777 are old too but have high mileage, Cathay pacific operate these planes for shorter flights like from Kaohsiung to Hong Kong. Cathay pacific is also a high rate A350 operator.
Correct and for CX A350/B777 long haul fleet they can also do HKG-MNL in competition against Philippine Airlines 菲律賓航空. If you ask jayden between a CX B-LAE/B-LBx B-HLx former KA B-HYx B-HWx A330-300 against PR RP-C8760-8789 fleet on HKG-MNL or PR RP-C9930-9938 vs CX B-HPx fleet on HKG 香港 to MNL 馬尼拉 his prefrence are on the CX versions
Like this trip report and besides HKG-KHH these A330-300s regional and medium haul versions are also sent on HKG-MNL another route that has the same duration as HKG-TPE/KHH.
Thanks Jayden. I use 'Flight Radar' to see where all those people flying high above me, are going. Your legs looked comfortable in your comfortable plane seat. Will miss my daily dose of JWo, when this marathon of reports is over. Cheers.
I flew HKG-KHH-HKG earlier this month. The catering from KHH is so much better than that from HKG. I understand that everything is more expensive in Hong Kong but if they cannot do a hot meal beacuse of cost constraint, maybe they should be creative. A warm Hong Kong-style bun (e.g. pineapple bun, cocktail bun, or even a luncheon meat bun) would probably be better than a congee that so salty and barely edible.
Big fan of their congee in business but yes it's boring in economy class haha. Maybe some dim sum too perhaps. If they do pineapple bun or any other kind of buns HKers will complain haha.
Jayden, love your videos, I think year ago I asked what you were thinking of travelling to cocos keeling islands. It has is a secluded paradise islands and beautiful beaches and coral reef. If you see this, tell me what you think
great video. Were they strict with the baggage weight. How would you rate the customer service, seat comfort and food rom one to ten? You are always pleasant
Cathay has never ever checked my carry on weight, and they've always waived my overweight charges for checked-in, I heard only a few outports are strict and to economy passengers only. Customer service (ground and air): 10/10 - Ground: friendly, kept us up to date about the delay - Air: Super friendly manager and service didn't feel rush Seat: 10/10 (my favourite Cathay economy seats) Food: 9.5/10 (main was delish, would always appreciate a starter or dessert)
No ferry. Too far for ferry haha. You could go to Macau by ferry instead. Hong Kong -Kaohsiung is similar to Melbourne-Sydney. High speed rail would be awesome but harder with the ocean haha.
Wow, Jayden. What's with the sudden end-of-year flight reviews all cranking out one after another? Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining about the more frequent reviews. Just curious to know why.
Cathay is my Favourite Airline
Great video again Jayden!!
Can’t wait for tonight’s video!! What else can I say???
Yay another Cathay video!
:)))
so productive this week!
You betcha! 😅
Thanks J, love the vlog ❤❤
Appreciate it!! 🙏
Absolutely love CX
Love the videos keep it up
Appreciate it 😊
Another great trip report JW! CX are impressive with a hot meal for a 1 hour flight! I'm sure the fireworks are because JW is back in town!!
hahaha, it was actually my first time watching fireworks in HK since 2017 NYE! What an awesome atmosphere
My thoughts exactly 😄
Another awesome review Jayden, good on Cathay Pacific for serving a meal on such a short flight

They’ve perfected economy flying!! And when you got status it feels like something else😂
@@JaydenWongFlying Cathay Pacific Airbus A321neo from Hong Kong to Manila, Cebu, and Kuala Lumpur is great!
The thing with CX is they have so many A330 configurations that sometimes we are left guessing which one will be used for a certain route, lol.
it’s getting better! They’re removing long haul config swiftly. Last time I checked only 3x with premium economy is still flying

@@JaydenWongHow about flying from Hong Kong to Colombo by Cathay Pacific?
A very happy Christmas, Jayden, to you, your parents and, of course, 6'4" 😍
Thanks for upload and welcome to Kaohsiung !

No way it was your first!!😂 Need to fly more with CX!
Jayden happy Christmas to you and 6’4”. All the best for 2025
thanks Mark! Appreciate that :) We're flying to Sydney on the 25th. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you

CX never fail to disappoint I've done this route twice first time on Eva on their A321 2nd time on Cathay both great flights
Haven’t flown EVA yet!! need to try soon
@JaydenWong #staralliancesquad 😒
I flew from Hong Kong to Guangzhou, and we only got a sandwich because the flight was shorter than an hour.
Every Day a Video 👍👍👍👍. That’s Christmas 🎄 Surprise 👏👏👏👏. Thanks 🙏🙏❤️❤️. See You. Greetings from Germany 🇩🇪. Cold and Rainy
greetings from Hong Kong! Have a lovely day, and tomorrow is TAP Air Portugal :)

ahaha I do that all the time when I'm hanging out with friends and I see an aeroplane flying above us. People would think my ADHD kicked in

Haha 😛 I just tell myself I am a plane nerd.
The FE MDs 😢 I saw some of them at TSA 2 months ago too. I used to almost exclusively fly them to Penghu instead of the ATRs from B7 and AE.
eww ATR! Didn't know Penghu existed til now haha. Added to my travel list.
I'd MUCH rather fly this on the HKG - SYD route than the A350-900 I got recently!
The A350-900 is good but in economy I prefer the A330 haha
looks like the food was a bit hot ! 🤣🤣🤣

Will Jayden fly Cathay A350 PEY in the future?
probably! I flew them this year
... but from Adelaide they don't !!
i miss your husband
why did b-lae fly to taipei first?
KHH was closed
hello Jayden
helllllo
For the longest time I thought you are vegetarian since you used to have vegetarian meals on board your flight… until recently…. ???
Never was! But I sometimes still opt for the vegan/vegetarian options for personal reasons.
