The Scent on the refresher towel is Franjipani or Plumeria... very common in the Islands Pacific for scenting coconut and drift nut oils love from the Fiji Islands
Really? I have three Plumeria trees at home (my favorite flower and scent) and the towels smelt absolutely nothing like any Plumeria I've ever smelt. The towels were much fruitier. Almost like a floral fruit punch... **almost** (but not) artificially so.
Flown Fiji Airways a bunch of times from Melbourne to Fiji and back both in economy and business with a variety of different aircraft. I've got nothing but good things to say about them 👍 Wifi is now included for business class.
thank you for taking the time to mention the fiji airways branding & livery - which is brilliant & beautiful. as a graphic designer, it's one of the things i always look at, but is seldom appreciated. (:
I read this three days ago- didn't reply becuase I wanted to give a thoughtful reply to it and didn't have time... then forgot haha. But yes, branding and airline liveries I think are one of the most fascinatiing aspects of any airline. There is so so so much that can be (tastefully) done with branding that so many airlines just don't even bother with. I can tell you, for the airline tail logos in all of my thumbnails, I make the tails myself and the number of logos that were clearly made in 12 minutes, likely for hundreds of thousands of dollars is insane. Simple can be good, but the lack of effort in some is sad. The new Saudi airline Riyadh Air is the one that's killing me at the moment. An incredible purple fusalage ruined by the logo which looks like someone just took the R from Rennaissance Hotels and put it inside a 787 Window shaped oval lol
The music and jet engine hum combo would make an excellent sleep music video …Love it!! just wish could loop it for 8 hours 🥱😴 great video as always 👏🏽

They always ask about your final destination as Nadi is a hub. Apart from the Sydney-Nadi-LA service they also have the Sydney-Nadi-San Francisco service. And routes to other Pacific Islands like Tonga, Samoa, Solomons Isl, Tuvalu and Kiribati. Now you also have Nadi-Vancouver.

I have heard good things about Air Fiji. I hope you try Air Tahiti Nui soon, flew them last year, great service and beautiful plane both outside and inside.
Fantastic video! This year, Fiji Airways has been ranked the 15th best in the world by Skytrax, better than Qantas, ranked 17th. Although Skytrax ratings are not that much reliable, they will certainly help Fiji Airways attract more passengers. Why have you removed the airport stats part from the takeoff and landing parts? I used to enjoy them a lot.
Getting that product for the price you did is great value, a huge step up over the 737s you usually see on the route. Another cracking trip report mate
We are reguilar visitors, Sydney to Nadi, and have flown the A350-900 "Island of Beqa" three times. We were on the first scheduled flight out of Sydney. Last trip we went over on an old 737 and returned on the A350 -big difference, the A350 is much better and more comfortable -seat pitch doesn't really look much different but much more room to stretch your legs. We only fly economy not worth the extra cost for business on a medium haul flight -better to spend the difference in Fiji. We have flown business class using Qantas Frequent Flyer points; many Air Pacific flights are code share with Qantas. You can also get QFF points on the Air Pacific flights.
With FJ starting their DFW flights tomorrow, I figured I'd watch your review again. I may even pair their 737 flight from HNL. I'm also going to check out your Fiji hotel reviews, to see where may be a good place to stay.
Since only their A350s can do the haul from DFW, I'd say it's more than worth it. The west coast flights are a bit more risky because they *could* be flown by an A330...
Glad your comments seem to be working again! Personally I'd love for that exact same seat LAX-NAN-SYD some day. Saving up my Alaska Airlines miles now haha. Thanks as always for the support 🙏
Thanks Sharing , the flight was delayed at least you got to fly with Fiji Airways . My last flight with Fiji Airways (SYD-LAX) was cancelled without prior notice because one of the pilots came down with gastroenteritis. I have a compensation of a lousy AUD$200 after they bought me a premium economy ticket with Qantas ( my original ticket was in business class). Fiji Airways is off my flying list ever since
Great video,🥰 one of the better ones I have seen about Fiji Airlines. I am booked in Business class on the 350-900 from Sydney to Vancouver in March 2024 with a stopover in Nadi. I hope they don't change planes to the 330. Keep up the good work. Your videos are awesome, straight to the point without the viewer looking at someone talking with a full mouth of food 😮 (like I have seen on other videos)
Last time I flew with them was to Australia from lax. When they were in transition from air pacific to Fiji airways. I was stuck in trasit in Nadi Airport for 7 hours with nothing open... no food no water, but they have since remodeled. So I will try them again soon. And just a heads up to avi geeks. Emerites is still offering first class on their fifth freedom route from bkk to hkg for under $1000 rnd trip...
I like the design of the cabin and also the amenity kit bag is quite cute. Amex card is a very interesting thing to me because a lot of business outside of US doesn’t accept it so I did not bother to get one but it is very interesting to see how they have so many different lounges all over the world.
You’re right about not being accepted everywhere but AMEX issues multiple types of cards in AUS as well and their old Sydney lounge was always PACKED so, there’s clearly a demand there. Thanks for watching 🩴
Hi there I work at Nadi airport. Truly appreciate your video on our national airline. Sydney also brings in the highest volume of cargo. FJ recently began services to Noumea and Canberra and sometime around this year or the following it plans to fly to Seoul, Seattle, Dallas as well as Rarotonga. Cheers
Nice review, thanks for sharing! Virgin Australia installed these same business class seats on their 777's - I always liked them and thought they were a good balance of space, comfort and privacy
Great review Kevin. My experience with Fiji over the years has been very mixed although the crew have always been lovely and welcoming. Cheers from AKL, NZL.
That jab at the centurion lounge is absolutely accurate 6:30. From a cost perspective, it's literally *fancy* rice and *fancy* chicken in 16 variations across 16 lounges, and it grinds me when beginner US credit card "enthusiasts" praise it as God's gift to earth
Yes, I've lived in SE Asia for 10 years, I know rendang haha. Fiji has a large Hindu population and so a lot of the food has come from the regions in between and including India. Thanks for watching 🩴
Agree about the braised and stewed items. Airlines that try to serve 'stand alone' meat cuts are just setting themselves up for failure. Thanks for watching 🩴
Back in 2019 I was lucky enough to take a number of flights on the LAX-NAD-LAX route. My company paid for J for myself and my assistant. My wife and her wife flew out the next day on the first trip (which caused a few looks from the hotel staff lol) but anyways, great airline, great crews and Fiji is one of those places in the world where I want to go back to as many times as possible.
Great video :) I'm wondering if you used the Bula Bid system or did you upgrade at the airport? If you did Bid, did you go slightly above the 'fair' offer value? TYSM !!
I was going to skip over this one, Fiji isnt on my bucket list........ auto play had other ideas and lm so glad l watched. There was me so engrossed in the history of the airlines which l had no idea about, nor did l know Qantas and New Zealand had a share in it, then l hear "l just got a call from You Tube" and your little dig about the lounge comments and l was glad l didnt skip this one, your sense of humour is priceless and l learned things from your video 👍
A score of 94 on a flight with an airline who cares about its passengers and has an equally rich history and branding is proof that Fiji Airways deserves to be the best airline in Oceania, according to Skytrax. Those additional A350s and A330 refurbishments can't come soon enough. *TIP:* _Qantas has this weird rule for its Frequent Flyers that if you fly with FJ to America, you will get earn the same points as status credits as with a Qantas flight. I hope I'm correct, but if that's the case, it's a steal since FJ always has the best fares to LAX, SFO, and YVR._
First time watching your video and you had me with that shade😂. Do you get to keep the blanket? I will be flying with Fiji back to the states from Auckland in June.
Marc Cavalieri former Pan Am, United, Crystal did a great job there. Regarding Amex Centurion lounge, as a Black card holder, they provide a private lounge, personalized service, just fitted to the 5 K membership. You should be invited besides it’s only 10 K to join … peanuts for you. Great video!! Love FJ product.
I'll be honest, I've never seen the actual value in having a Centurion card lol- for me at least. I know it has the personal concierges and stuff like that, but for this control freak, I'd never actually use the service lol. Thanks as always for your support 🙏
I enjoy lounges hopping, pls do it more, you deserve it, you travel a lot, use ur card a lot, lounge access is probably the bare minimum of perks you have. Also, for the last few flight review, no more airport stats along the take off?
I always try to improve my graphic without increasing the overallwork load too much, so with the new route maps, the airport stats got cut. But, it might be temporary, we shall see. Thanks for watching 🩴
it was obvious that you preferred the A350 (but of course!), it just shows how plesant a flight can be, given that the airline really tried. Unlike some that cram you in like sardines and feed crap food.and dont clean the aircraft properly. Nice video, liked you straight talk, no flowery nonsense!
Another great report. Special mention to the shots of Ku ring gai national park just north of Sydney. In fairness to FJ’s on time record they do get held up waiting for transfer passengers and by shocking cyclones in the first and last 3 months of the year. Bula as they say!
Love it and at 7:12 the CX A350-1000 can be painted in their iconic cucumber sandwich paint scheme. For an endurance run on the CX A350-1000, try JFK-HKG. Pre Covid-19 you also have the choice of EWR-HKG. When it comes to Fiji Airways do they take AA Advantage/Alaska Airlines or not? This seat is almost Identical to the CX A350-1000 B-LXx Business class seats and AA B777-323/ER.
Yes you can book FJ with Alaska Miles. CX and AA (77W) along with AY, AV, VN and others use Cirrus reverse herringbone seats, where as FJ, along with BA, AA (787), QR (380, 359), etc use Collins Aerospace reverse herringbone. Easiest way to distinguish is Cirrus IFE monitors fold back where as Collins' are fixed in place. Thanks for watching 🩴
Just flew nrt - nan- akl with fiji airways, nrt to nan was the older style business class, 2 2 2, my neighbour had bad b.o so my 9 ish hour flight to nan wasn't pleasant at all, service and food were great tho
Great video!! QUESTION: My husband and I are going to Fiji in October this year. We will fly from Denver to Los Angeles, then on the Nadi Airport in Fiji. Who did you contact exactly in advance of your travel to upgrade to Business Class? I called Fiji Airlines to see how much it would cost to upgrade to business and it was twice the cost as the entire trip including accommodations and meal. Any help is appreciated! Did you say you for upgraded just two days before your trips? Thank you! Do you mind sending me a reply to my email? I don’t always go back to TH-cam just to check for responses.
I reply to all comments in the comments so everyone can potentially benefit (and you didn’t include an email address, which TH-cam would block- anyway lol). At the time the airline sent out upgrade bid emails some weeks prior to the flight. My bid was confirmed as successful a day or two before departure.
first time visiting your channel and good report! Too bad you didn't sit on the right side of the aircraft as the views of CBD and the harbour would've been on that side.
Last week I just took bundle of pictures of amazing Fiji a359 at syd then one of my colleague fall in love with Fiji airway, figuring out how can fly with them within a reasonable price tho
I fully support your statement about the attitude of the Checkin agent at Sydney airport. For that reason I will try my utmost of the utmost best to avoid that airport!! I thought it’s because I’m Asian and travelling economy. I was surprised that my well travelled associates swore never to go an inch near Sydney airport
their in-flight service, although sometimes, slow, can be personable. I flew with them from HNL-NADI-SYD-, and SYD-NADI-LAX, all in Business Class. the HNL-NADI was on a 737 MAX and they were not well prepared, as the plane was fueled late. definitely thought I would miss my connection at NADI, and somehow they held the flight due to many connecting passengers. attempting another trek with them from DFW-NADI-SYD in 2025.
👍 Love the format of your reviews. 6:45 A stunning livery, indeed. 8:03 Dang, and you were doing so well up to here 😁 - given that you knew 3:49 Kiribati is pronounced Kiribas, thought Nadi would be correctly pronounced as Nandi. 8:189:51 Maybe they knew that they'd be on your channel, but it's a bit uncouth to be wearing such footwear for this kind of international flight. If 9:51 was heading to a J class seat, that's even more gross. Thanks and keep up the good work!👏
“Nan-di” is well known to be the Aus/NZ pronunciation of the city. Ask most iTaukei locals and they will tell you it’s “Nah-di”… and the name of the channel is literally The Flip Flop Traveller. It’s not 1958 anymore, were you expecting stilettos? 🩴🩴🩴🩴🩴🩴🩴🩴 Thanks for watching 🩴
If it's underrated then how come SKYTRAX recognise it as rated 15th best airline in the world above Qantas rated 17th and Air New Zealand rated 19th. Do your research first. Probably Air India is underrated
Fijian cuisine has many influences from SE Asia and South Asia- but also as I mentioned, this was a menu specifically geared towards their Aus/NZ/North American pax. Thanks for watching 🩴
Hmm, You mention that there is a shallow cubby to put your passport and whatnot in. This is a common theme in travel vlogs similar to yours, and one that has often puzzled me. You see, I can't imagine my passport, cards, and cash being anywhere but in my travel wallet tucked into the front pocket of the over the shoulder bag I always fly with (a Crumpler BTW). Such documents and facilities are precious to me and, while I have relaxed from the days when they were always in a body belt, not knowing exactly where they are seems a tad remiss. A random cubby just doesn't seem the place for them.
Just curious, for the retail prices of wines that you use in your videos, is there a source where you get these prices from? or are they just random google price searches? Note that in some jurisdictions, wines from certain other countries can be subject to differing rates of duty which is built in to the retail price where it is physically sold. I would suspect that when airlines buy wines, they get them at much lower wholesale prices and perhaps in some cases exempt from duty (which they only pay when a bottle is opened on the ground for predeparture service and exempt when served after takeoff).
Yes of course they buy them at wholesale prices. All of my prices are US consumer retail prices and come from Wine-Searcher or Vivino. Thanks for watching 🩴
I feel the endless delays are likely down to the contractor they use for ground handling, Fiji use a very small handler at all ports in Australia, and often the crew only work that flight and us such they are very understaff. Same thing happens in Melbourne all the time.
"Like anything touched by Qantas or Jetstar, gets quite a bit of flack" Couldn't say it better, I generally zip between Melbourne - Perth on QF once every fortnight and gotta say, blows water in comparison to VA in both Economy and Business. Customer service imo has always been superb, sure you can get the grumpy old CSM but I am seeing a huge amount of energetic young crew entering the industry and its great. Airfares are high but its the sort of market we live in, Virgin and Rex (esp regionally) aint much better than QF or QLK. Qantas' loyalty program is great, being P1 and LTG the benefits are fantastic and the International First Lounges and Domestic Business Lounges are some of the best in the southern hemisphere. Jetstar is great, for (on sale) $199round trip between Melbourne/Sydney/Adelaide/Brisbane to Denpasar you cant complain that much, and between Melbourne - Singapore where Jetstar Business Class can be found for $1000 AUD round trip, its cheaper then Qantas or Singapore Airlines Sale Economy fares. And if there are seats, Jetstar Max (Flex) fares in Economy can have upgrade offers from Melbourne - Honolulu for $399, amazing. As per usual a fantastic review Kevin and looking forward to the Jetstar/Qantas Business reviews ;)
Thanks very much and "airfares are high" is quite the understatement lol. I recently booked a few Aus domestic sectors for next year and I've literally flown to the opposite side of the world in Singapore Business Class for less than QF was asking for PER-SYD in Business lol. Their pricing is just absolute bananas for anything originating in Aus.
@@tfft To be fair, QF generally filles them with mining lawyers/executives/directors making the transcon run across to Perth. Always on the A330, always packed full in the front.

Bro posted top quality edit and thought we wouldn't notice 😏
No idea what this is refering to but ok lol.
Great video :)
I'm wondering if you used the Bula Bid system or did you upgrade at the airport?
If you did Bid, did you go slightly above the 'fair' offer value?
TYSM !!
Yes I did bid. I always bit at the 3rd "click" up from the bottom, when I do bid.
I’ve been in the that lounge earlier in July, I was off to Norfolk Island
Thanks for watching 🩴
I was going to skip over this one, Fiji isnt on my bucket list........ auto play had other ideas and lm so glad l watched. There was me so engrossed in the history of the airlines which l had no idea about, nor did l know Qantas and New Zealand had a share in it, then l hear "l just got a call from You Tube" and your little dig about the lounge comments and l was glad l didnt skip this one, your sense of humour is priceless and l learned things from your video 👍
I thought your comment was going to end with “isn’t on my buck list…and now I know why” 😂
Thanks for sharing ✈️
First time watching your video and you had me with that shade😂. Do you get to keep the blanket? I will be flying with Fiji back to the states from Auckland in June.
No, blankets stay on board lol. Thanks for watching 🩴
I truly enjoy watching your reviews!
Thanks very much 🙏🏻
Marc Cavalieri former Pan Am, United, Crystal did a great job there.
Marvellous Video! Greetings from Indonesia. Cheers.
Thanks for watching 🩴
Awesome video, I really like the mix of colours in the livery and the seat,Also have you heard of ro aviation?
I know it exists, but not much more than that. Thanks for watching 🩴
@@tfft You should make videos of it haha
it was obvious that you preferred the A350 (but of course!), it just shows how plesant a flight can be, given that the airline really tried. Unlike some that cram you in like sardines and feed crap food.and dont clean the aircraft properly.
Nice video, liked you straight talk, no flowery nonsense!
Thanks for watching 🩴
Awesome video as always ..A350 looks elegant and beautiful ❤️❤️❤️....So you are Airbus fan or Boeing fan
I usually find Airbus models to have more comfortable cabins than their Boeing equivalents. Thanks for watching 🩴
@@tfft I go with your view ❤️
That smell is similar to Japanese oshibori flower scent .I think that might be the one
Another great report. Special mention to the shots of Ku ring gai national park just north of Sydney. In fairness to FJ’s on time record they do get held up waiting for transfer passengers and by shocking cyclones in the first and last 3 months of the year. Bula as they say!
Thanks very much 🙏🏻
Love it and at 7:12 the CX A350-1000 can be painted in their iconic cucumber sandwich paint scheme.
You win some, you lose some! Thanks for watching 🩴
Great Video you just scored a new subscriber.

Great video!! QUESTION:
My husband and I are going to Fiji in October this year.
Pumped! About to sleep… will watch this one before I do👍🏼
Thanks for staying up! Haha
@@tfft Great review, as always. Keep up the good work👍🏼

first time visiting your channel and good report! Too bad you didn't sit on the right side of the aircraft as the views of CBD and the harbour would've been on that side.
Thanks for watching 🩴
Thank you for sharing you trip here.
It is nice you can go to the airline before and after you flight. Nice!!!
Thanks for watching 🩴
@@tfft You are welcome.

Nicely done! 👏👏👏👏
Thanks very much 🙏🏻
Does the separator between the two middle seats slide?
their in-flight service, although sometimes, slow, can be personable.
8:18 9:51 Maybe they knew that they'd be on your channel, but it's a bit uncouth to be wearing such footwear for this kind of international flight.
Thanks for watching 🩴
Was this a one way, return or open jaw ticket?
One way. The price in the description is always for the specific segment covered in the video unless otherwise specified. Thanks for watching 🩴
That's pretty cheap for a one-way!!
The livery on the tail is called a "Tapa" by the way
Thanks for sharing ✈️
They serve rendang at Fiji Airways? That is kinda surprise man!! Rendang is a staple of Malaysia & Indonesia 😊
Fijian cuisine is a mix of many styles and influences, including a lot from India and SE Asia. Thanks for watching 🩴
Hop! I am in for another relaxing and interesting review! 😁
Thanks for watching 🩴
very underated airlines
Agree! Thanks for watching 🩴
If it's underrated then how come SKYTRAX recognise it as rated 15th best airline in the world above Qantas rated 17th and Air New Zealand rated 19th. Do your research first. Probably Air India is underrated
That’s very interesting to see beef rendang in a Fiji flight. Isn’t that indonesian food?
Fijian cuisine has many influences from SE Asia and South Asia- but also as I mentioned, this was a menu specifically geared towards their Aus/NZ/North American pax. Thanks for watching 🩴
Hmm,
You mention that there is a shallow cubby to put your passport and whatnot in.
My passport never leaves my pocket. Just because I say “hey there’s a cubby here” doesn’t mean you’re required by law to use it.
ill try out the singapore airlines A350-900 next year
Enjoy your trip 🗺️
You must have been in good mood when you were reviewing Fiju Air 😄

Taj Lake Palace in Udaipur?

Is it Taj Lake Palace
It is! Thanks for watching 🩴
Thanks for sharing ✈️
How much is the fare from Sydney to Samoa
That’s a great question for their website 😉
"Like anything touched by Qantas or Jetstar, gets quite a bit of flack"
Couldn't say it better, I generally zip between Melbourne - Perth on QF once every fortnight and gotta say, blows water in comparison to VA in both Economy and Business.
At first I thought you were a kiwi becuz of the thumbring, but I detect more of an aussy accent actually!
Anyhow that was a fair dinkum flight review mate! 🦘
Ok, now I’m really curious… in which words does my Aussie accent come through?
I’m from New York 😅
@@tfft Oh I'll give you the benefit of the doubt for sure! I'm not sure which words sound very Aussie, but you don't sound like a cast member of Gangs Of New York either.
You ever say fair dinkum?
I have absolutely no idea what it means lol.
I have absolutely no idea what that means lol
