as a kid, getting demo disc for my ps2 was so awesome. didnt have alot of games growing up, but me and my lil brother played the heck out of NBA Street Vol2 from a demo disc.
I'm really feeling the PS3 spirit more than ever before these couple weeks, so seeing your PS3 content always makes my day :) There's something so special about this console, but it totally went over my head back then, as I only got my Super Slim in 2015 for the first time shortly before my PS4! I've always been kinda dumbfounded as to why I did that so late back then, but nowadays I'm just so happy I got such a great & trusty console back when it was still easy. So glad I have mine now - I'll be deep-cleaning it on Thursday & want to use it again next to my PS5 to play some exclusives & classics on it
Great video, I love that you appreciate the PS3 as much as me. We're lucky to have this high quality content going crazy deep on niche PS3 aspects. PS3 demo discs are also something I really get in to. There are a bunch in PAL territories that came with the monthly Official PlayStation Magazines. There is also a few standalone US ones, including the 3D demo which you should ddefinitely track down - it has Motorstorm 3D Rift, plus full games of Super Stardust HD, Wipeout and Pain on disc. My favourites are the other cool Japanese ones, Minna No Golf 5 (given via a Famitsu Magazine), Fromsoftware HD Visual Preview Disc (given out at a PS3 launch event), Gran Turismo HD Install Disc, Square Enix Magazine Demo Disc Vol 1 (via Famitus Magazine), Winning Eleven Adidas Edition (given out at Addidas stores if you spent a certain amount) etc.
Those beautiful memories, can't forget them. Sending movies to my PSP from my laptop was a real hassle, I'll have to convert the movie first with a Video Converter, before transferring it to my PSP.
Hey Ryan, thank you so much for still doing these PS3 videos! I really appreciate all these obscure & creative uploads showcasing what the PS3 ecosystem was like back then. Thank you so much & please don't stop :)
@@ezioassassain Understandable. The allure of 1080p HD graphics was thrilling at the time, but now I'm more starved for fun, deep, gameplay even though graphics are a huge plus.
I really appreciate the way you cover Playstation. Thanks for uploading those things to the second channel, it is a great way to preserve old material. Thanks again, Ryan
I still own a dozen demo discs from the Spanish PlayStation magazines I got back in the day when living there. I bought so many for a while. But it was eventually discontinued and I sort of stopped buying them anyway. PS4 was coming too, I remember. Great memories though. It was odd you had to install each demo from the disc onto the HDD, if I remember correctly.
Love the content as always! 7th gen for both PS3 and XB360 was such a special time in video games. I was in 7th grade and wanted either system soooo bad! But when the price came out my parents wouldn’t budge so I got a 360 for Christmas and eventually the Slim PS3 and oh man what a fuckin time to be alive and playing games! It was very special! Keep up the good work with these awesome videos!
@@TheAmazingSpiderGuy_99 blame the devs. they couldn't be bothered to take the time to code for the PS3 properly which resulted in games with bad PS3 ports like Skyrim or skipping PS3 entirely and only being on xbox 360. Meanwhile devs who did take their time like Naughty Dog were able to do great things with the hardware. Sony was basically forced to abandon their architecture and adopt commonplace architecture used by everyone else.
I got a ding on my phone at 8 am and I thought for sure it was mystics email saying he posted to patreon for deleted scenes to his upcoming 30 plats in 30 days videos and I thought I was gonna be in for such a treat. It's great.
IMO. Demos lost its specialty when it entered the ps3 era. Because they just became discs with downloadable demos on them. Instead of playing the demos off the disc
It's the same with the xbox 360 and them OXM demo discs that you would get. They were still pretty cool since every one of the demo discs had some free gamerpics to download to your console.
I still get games on discs mainly cuz A: cex sells games for cheap as hell B: its quite nice to have it as a collection all stacked on a shelf somewhere
@@lewisgrant7622 i guess so tho in my experience ive never ach got a game that dosent work from there, ik its a thing that happens to ppl i just am yet to experience it myself
I love these discs. I own each one and the ones that came bundled are not only a great blast of nostalgia but have also been a great way for me to get footage for my videos.
I still happen to have one of the demo discs, they're pretty interesting to look at, especially the trailers that were on there. I kinda like how they were labeled like PS3 discs even though you can technically play em on just a regular Blu-ray player.
I remember since PlayStation 1 they had special game demo discs. Pizza Hut, toys r us, Best Buy, PlayStation underground. I actually recently downloaded them on emulator. It was interesting to see the differences and games and accessories they were pushing at the time. It would be cool to see you reviewing ps1-3
Those Blu-ray cases that have that child lock security tab you can actually close the tab inside while the case is open and now it will close like a normal case. Your welcome😎🤙🏻
Psp was truly one device on the go before the iPod & iPhone. And ps3 was the one device at home. That girl handing off that Sony memory stick duo was a free one that came with the console 😂 32MB I hand 3 off them before I finally bought a 16gb.
Funny that you'd upload this today, as I only just learned of these discs a few days ago. I was on the PS3 subreddit and saw a post titled 'Just bought this absolute UNIT', showing off a console and game bundle. A few decent games and some sports titles, but what drew my eye was the blu-ray case on the top of the pile with 'PlayStation 3' on the spine. It sent me down a rabbit hole (using the BCUS code on spine to get started), looking at various PS3 demo discs. I wonder if it was a Japan & US only thing, as I got my first PS3 in Sept '08 (80GB phat) and have never seen any demo discs in the wild, here in the UK.
I immediately subscribed to Press X to Archive. Great initiative! Are you interested in footage from the PSP demo disc? I know they are not in high resolution anyway but existing uploads were most likely from that era meaning uploaded with high compression bloat.
Speaking of high quality trailers I remember downloading all of the PSN videos in HD and 1080p on my old PS3 but had to delete them for game installs later on. I vividly remember loving the "THIS IS LIVING" advertisements and all of the weird stuff that was going on with PS3 ads and honestly also some PS2 ads. Edit: Does anyone know where you can get the high quality versions of those videos? I've found some of them but in super low quality.
I love these videos. If I had the money, I'd love to collect every PlayStation Underground Jampack issues. Have a soft spot for them. It was the second best thing back then for me if any of my local retailers didn't have the game I wanted
I have one of those ps3 discs I got way way back, before I even got a ps3. It was more of a free promotional trailer disc that stores used to give away.
Did you know that Official PlayStation Magazine UK back in the PS3 era had physical PS3 Demo Discs with games and trailers, very similar to these Japanese discs.
Hey Ryan when the PS Stars update hits consoles you should make a video where you go through all your stars trophies how you got them and what you think about them in a commemoration type of way.
My coolest ps3 thing is that I have a rare review copy of Rayman Legends and it’s like this smaller thinner case. Kinda like a CD case? And it doesn’t have disc art
This is off-topic, but I recently installed a ssd onto my ps5, and I was wondering if the little cylinder icon that shows up on top of the screen takes some time to go away. Every time I turn my ps5 on it always shows up and it kinda stays there for a bit, is this normal?
