When I was younger I didn’t own a lot of games on my Xbox 360 so I just went through and downloaded like every demo and played them all, nowadays most games don’t have demos and the ones that do more often than not end up being games I don’t really care about so I don’t get that pure joy I would feel when playing a demo and imagining how cool the full game must be, because now I can just look it up or buy the game easier because I can make money now. Some things I wish would never change but I guess time has to go on and things you got joy out of when you were young just don’t give you joy anymore and you just have to accept it and find something new...
I'm at that stage myself
Remember the 3DS demos that had a cap of how many times you could play?
Yeah, why did they do that?
They did the same thing on the wiiu
Meanwhile the Dragon Quest 11 S demo on the Switch is like 10 hours long
Bravely Default demo was like 10 hours long with streetpass, meanwhile you can play it only 30 times
that's still a thing
pokken dx on the switch, 10 or 15 times
I still remember demos offer in grocery stores back when I was a kid. Such good times.

Ok I’m only writing this so that Scott has something to read other than “random quote” format comments but these videos are honestly some of my favorite content on youtube.
I couldn't agree more dude/lady. And, for some reason, if Sciatt doesn't read or see your comment, which he most definitely should, and give it a well deserved like, then I definitely will! Don't know how or why he wouldn't see it though, maybe he's busy sleeping at IKEA? Or at pizza hut, you know, pizza hut? The place with the redhead girl who serves bacon sandwiches?
I'm not really into gaming. I just watch these videos because he's just a pleasure to listen to. Sincere, clever and entertaining.

Didn't he say himself they were really short? Plus those games were fully developed by the time Brawl came out, the demo disks Scott speaks of were unfinished games at the time.
some of those were as short as 30 seconds lmfao

Was just about to comment about the Burnout 3 demo on Need for Speed Underground 2. My mom always thought it was a dumb game so she wouldn't buy it for me and I was ecstatic when I randomly found that demo lmao
Karuna I had both Underground 2 and Burnout 3, which meant I also owned both demo versions of it lmao
The best Demo I ever played was Warthunder. The Demo included online multiplayer on one of the games best map set to Capture the flag game mode. And the demo supported split screen online multiplayer. My brother and I put at least a hundred hours into that demo. There where communities for just the demo version! IT was insane how good and how much content was in it.

I love and still collect demo discs (almost have a complete OXM and OXM360 set) as they are a timestamp for the game's devcycle, comparing what changed from the final version (TimeShift in particular had two demos, one was more steampunk the later being the final dystopian dark artstyle). Exclusive gamerpics, themes, videos too, and I still love some of the demo disc menu music (the PlayStation interactive CD samplers in particular).

Scott thank you for this video! I had the Jampack PS1 disc you showed so much of in this video (with Legend of Dragoon). I had completely forgotten where I played those demos. When I saw that jewel case I immediately paused the video and bought that specific disc. I had so much fun as a kid playing those demos over, and over again. It's where I was introduced to JRPGs with LoD. Again thanks for the info.

They’re referring to Funhaus’s Demo Disk series.
