$14.99 at Harbor Freight for the bit and an old grinder handle with a nut welded on! I'm probably going to order a better quality bit a little bigger, like a 1" and make another one.
Our router doesn't plunge deep enough for the boxes we generally use. For switch boxes especially with multiple switches, dimmers and such, there's a lot of wires to pack in there.
You need to patent this. A handheld hollow chisel mortiser is an awesome idea.
You have a working prototype you better patent that shit up quick!
Patent that before the big companies steal it!
Awesome
Clever! Think i know what my next tool build will be

Impressive brother!
Bravo.
Does the bit fill up with wood after a few uses
Nope! The shavings are ejected out the side of the hollow chisel! The inner bit acts as an auger and pulls the shavings up and out.
You could use a router, and using a thin switch or plug like the Moes smart switches, that would save you a ton of time!

Thanks for the idea. I just patented it. Let me know if you want to buy the rights to your own invention. 😜 jk
