I have a first generation Mini Clubman S and it's amazing how big the new MInis are now. Love the sound of the Countryman's engine. Beautiful driving scenery!

This is the car YOU need.
Love my Mini Countryman 2019. To open the hatch you do place your foot in the middle and do a quick soccer kick to open. Its perfect when your hands are full with groceries and luggage . You forgot to show the keyless entry . You should also review it in the night when you open the door . There is an amazing welcome feature of the mini logo to greet you, you feel like a movie star entering your car. In addition you did not mention the wonderful apps that come with the car for setting up your appointments and it notifying you via cell phone telling you when to leave your home so you make the appointment on time . The connected app also sends the address to your GPS so when you get your mini your setup to go to your destination . You also did not mention personalized seating memorized settings . This car is so much fun to drive. Thanks for the review .

Driving mistake here. In France you're not allowed to pass the car in front by crossing the continued full-lines and it's not allowed to pass while driving in the tunnel.
Overall this JCW looks funny to drive and there are many nice details interior that provide with the excitement. I rather prefer this version. But the price-tag is prohibitive.

As a die hard fan of BMW this looks like a very interesting car. I love the huge sedans for that executive feeling but this car looks like so much fun. The wife loves Mini's as well so I might just get one as our next car. Life is definitely too short to drive boring cars.
This is the best JCW Countryman review on TH-cam. I've watched them all. Some are just musical tours. Others just can't get passed a Mini being within two inches of a Golf's length.
I wish he had a chance to review the 6-speed manual. It's even more unique for an all wheel drive vehicle to have one.

That looked like a really smooth surfaced road... I wonder how comfortable progress would be in that 'go-kart' on a standard uneven, torn-up UK road! Really great camera angle through the windscreen. Very interesting Review, thanks Thomas. Oh, and quite a nice car.

Following for tall guys who love minis like myself
with a rotating knob for the seat you can set it in every position very gradually. With a lever the steps of inclination are a little bigger so less precise. I think :)

... I`m buying one! After watching your review I actually would prefer going for the normal sports seats... But then again, I can`t buy a JCW without original JCW seats. So I guess we have to live with the pain. :) Thank you T.
haha =) Well the Alcantara choice is very good, thats the main aspect. Maybe you can try out the seats for you at the dealer?
Our dealer already have a car in stock. I have already tried it out and it feels good, but I guess the seats might be tiring for longer drives. I guess we will find out :)
Have been driving about1000 km after picking up the car six days ago. Had a 3 hour drive today, and had no problems with the JCW seats. And I`m so glad we went for a manual stick shift. Had a Cooper S as a loaner from Penske Hamburg with an automatic, and it felt boring compared to the manual which is much more involving. The consept of the countryman it just excellent, and the JCW 4ALL is a lot of fun on Norwegian winter roads. The Autogefühl review is the reason we chose a Countryman JCW as a small daily driver. Thank you!

Hallo Thomas, das HUD wird nicht aufgrund von Sparmaßnahmen oder weil es günstiger ist auf eine Plastikscheibe projeziert. Der Grund für die Plastikscheibe ist das die Frontscheibe zu steil ist und somit kann es nicht direkt auf die Scheibe projeziert werden. Die Info habe ich von Mini. Schöne Grüße

Aber wenn die Windschutzscheibe ausgetauscht mußt, so wäre die Windschutzscheibe wirklich billiger sein (sie sind getrennt). 👍🏻

Awesome review..just bought the 2021 Mini Countryman S All4...just waiting on it to be delivered. Got the new digital display, not sure I'll like over the analog, but it wasn't a deal breaker. Beautiful scenery..was that in Germany and what part? Thx for the ride👍

Great work as always Thomas !. Car styling is subjective I know, personally I dont like the 3rd Gen Mini range, they look clownish with overly exaggerated features and fake detailing. As BMW inflates the size of the cars and weighs them down with more and more tech, the more the core concept gets lost and you end up with just a BMW in drag, offering the same options but with different knobs and graphics. It would me more interesting to me, if the original brand value of innovative design had been retained to produce a range of cars that offered economy, fun and value with great eco credentials. Its difficult to make money on small cars with low volumes and I worry that unless global appeal and therefore sales increase, another part of motoring history will vanish. Probably the only thing that is still mini about Mini are the sales figures and I cant help feeling that BMWs current strategy for the brand will keep it that way. It will be interesting to see if BMW can reverse the decline in global Mini sales since 2007, early indications look promising with an uptick in the numbers recently. - lets hope it continues.

I have mixed feelings watching the latest generations of "mini" wich aren't mini any more.
When I first spotted this car on the street I thought it's awful, against the original concept and the whole idea of a small sporty and old-styled looking car. But now I got used to its look and I think it's an interesting car which become more practical and up to date.
This car looks much bigger in photos than it does in real life

Hi Thomas, will you please also review the plug-in hybrid version of this Countryman ? I had purchased one of the first Countryman model and the overall quality of the interior was absolutely terrible, lots of hard plastics, lots of noise due to those materials as well as from the diesel engine...Would you say that the new model has improved enough to justify for the high price ?

Uggh it doesn't count if you review the automatic instead of the manual. Majority of owners get the manual! :( Good review minus reviewing the wrong transmission.
We do not get the chance to pick that on location in the most cases. However, most customers do take automatic according to the info I got.

that "foot mechanism" seems totally pointless to me, why would you pay for something that doesnt really work and you can just open it with your hand or key.
Had that feature on our 2014 BMW M-Sport Wagon....very helpful in loading the "boot" when you hands are full. Takes a bit of practice to hit the "spot" with your foot but you soon get the hang it. A nice feature
