Unveiling Our SECRETS - How To Make Travel Videos For YouTube

- In this video, we show you how to make travel videos and how we make our Travel Vlogs.
There are no rules on how to make travel vlogs or videos, but in this video, we go through in detail and with fun, how we make our travel vlog each week.
We use our video for next week as our example, as we take a look at filming on location, in this case, Colwyn Bay in North Wales and The Welsh Mountain Zoo. We then take a look at the seaside town of Colwyn Bay in North Wales.
We talk a little about using our microphone, what software we use to make our travel vlogs - mainly Vegas Pro and Sound Forge.
We then take you through our steps of how we edit and final end up with our finished travel vlog, all with the silliness that you have come to expect from this channel.

Postcard & A Pint was thought up by my partner, Rachel & myself, Wills one day while taking our daily 1 hour exercise during the lockdown of 2020. All of a sudden, we were spending more time together, not working 6 or 7 days a week in the arts industry, and binge watching travel programs, and we were actually really enjoying it, and it made us re-evaluate what was important in life for us. Now back to working 6 or 7 days a week again, with very little time off, our happy time is getting out there on our brief times off together and making short travel videos that we are now sharing with you. Great seeing how others plan and execute their videos. Loving the bloopers too. It helps that you are both filming, I haven't managed to get my husband to join in yet lol. I remember the tragic shot, Rachel and Wills. 🤣🤣 You do a wonderful job at making videos. So do Nick and Jill! I don't have a clue about how? 😁😁 Guess I'd better keep on watching! But, you lost me with the editing. Did you hear my snores? I'm afraid I'm nowhere near the professional. I did figure out though how to put the clips together. Interesting to see 'behind the scenes' and how much work actually goes into producing weekly videos. Fantastic too as you still have 'regular jobs'. It's funny to see all the frustrations, I can relate to many of them, I would include one of mine which is when doing the voice over, I discover how many words I can't pronounce correctly!! A five minute session of practising the word until I can say it right adds to how long a simple voice over takes!

Wow .didnt realise the effort. I try to keep myself offscreen as much as possible when doing my coastal path vids. Its all a case of developing your own style. First and foremost I do my vids for my own memento and when other folk like it so much the better. I like your style of vids. As for the walk backs .Ive joked with others who do them and resisted the temptation except for the very odd occasion.but I cant do it seriously .have to laugh and dad dance while Im doing it.

I genuinely consider you guys best in class with your vlogs so was keen to see this behind the scenes. Seeing the effort you guys put into your edit, it is now obvious why you have such a fantastic end product. Some good tips, I think I might even give the leg thing a go when doing voice overs 😂

Ha ha, I like it, we too make things work, no matter what the weather or who's around us whilst filming! We do a lot of walking past and going back to the camera, normally retrieved by me (Simon)...

That looked far more professional than I manage. I guess it helps with Wills being a sound engineer. Great insights into how you create your content. I've done the walking back for the camera, it's a right pain to have to do it.

LOL...I have many that comment that Otis is so good at posing...I'll never tell that it usually takes a dozen or so shots to get just one that is passable!! LOL Oh my, haven't even attempted a voice-over yet...after seeing the technical side...I'm thinking that it could be quite awhile!

I thought it was me who did numerous retakes whilst on location! If I'm honest, most of what you do as regards editing, i do myself. It's a long process every week, but so worth it.

I have no words. Well, one. Holy effin' moley. That was 3, but who's counting. Best making of video ever! Who knew that so much work goes into one of these things? I thought you just shot a bit of vid, put a few clips on the computer, slapped on some tunes, waffled on into a mic, added penguins, and Bob' your uncle. That's all I do and is why it only takes me about a year to get a video out. You're obviously taking shortcuts somewhere to get these things out on weekly basis. I keep looking for nits to pick but nope, they're epic. Entertaining, funny, informative... effin' amazin'! This video in particular was superb. I chortled often. Until I got to Wills' joke. I really try to suppress a chortle then. Really I do. Sometimes turns into a guffaw though and even a LOL. There should be a support group. Speaking of gags. Rach, Wills only gets the one gag a week but you often have more gags than a Ron Jeremy video. You two are a great team and it really shows.

This is fun! We agree about sound on the GoPro. I’m just getting used to using a microphone but I am one of those put it down and walk back to the camera person for sure… even my doggy has that part down 😂 it’s fun to hear that you guys also to see how the day unfolds for the most part for your videos too. It’s a more exciting way to film if you ask me.

Honestly, how many hours do you spend editing one travel video? I was convinced that I spend 10 times longer than you because I'm such a clueless editor! But seeing all the steps you take makes me wonder if I don't actually take less time than you? One thing is for sure, I could never get Ian to watch our video four times before it's even published! Lol😮😂
Not that long! The first draft is usually 2-3 hours - music can take anything from 15 mins to an hour! It's the script that takes the time! 2-3 hours (only about 20 mins to record) and about 20 mins to put in. I thinks Wills does a fair few hours on transitions, effects and the thumbnail and description!!!

Hey Ken, we don’t really know much about it to be honest, the money in these sort of things are crazy. All we know about it is that Anthony Hopkins is playing the part of Wrex, the Wrexham mascot. @@kennethfinnegan2978 he was directing a show at the theatre I work in, he also the film of it first, filmed on the Llyn Peninsula of Wales. The film and play was called, August. It was an adaptation of the Chekhov play, Uncle Vanya. Google it, it was about 1994. The film premier was actually at our theatre also with Prince (now king) Charles there. It was a great show and he was a great guy

How many photo/video files do you usually use in one travel vlog?
Wills usually takes about 200 and I take about 100 and I'd say we use about 250 of them?
@@PostcardAndAPint that's typical for me too... although I've had as much as 600. I was extremely cranky when I had to edit that video! 😬🙄
