Luminate Arley Hall Cheshire Review Vlog - Is It Worth A Visit?
Welcome to the Luminate Arley Hall, Cheshire review and vlog.
In this Luminate review, we explore the magical light trail around the forests of Arley Hall, Cheshire and see if we think it's worth a visit.
This year, there are six Luminate Trail Of Lights events over the United Kingdom, these are, Sandringham Estate, Margam Country Park, Shugborough Estate, Birmingham Botanical Gardens, Coombe Abbey and Arley Hall and it's the Arley Hall Luminate Trail of Light that we visited and absolutely loved.
In this Luminate Arley Hall, Cheshire review vlog, we take a look at the entire trail of light in the gardens and forest of Arley Hall, near Warrington in Cheshire, United Kingdom and give you our honest opinion as to if we think it's worth a visit and worth the money.
We visited Arley Hall in a similar light trail two years ago with the Harry Potter Forbidden Forest Experience, so had that in mind when we came to Luminate. To be honest, it was quite different, the Harry Potter Experience was a bit more interactive and had a few more light installations, but it was also over twice the price of Luminate.
We really loved Luminate at Arley Hall and we hope this video gives you a good idea of what to expect if you're thinking of visiting Luminate at Arley Hall, Cheshire, or even if you're just interested in what a Christmas light trail looks like.
This video takes a look at every part of the Luminate trail of light, but of course we have to stop for some mulled wine, marsh mallows and even some cheesy chips.
We hope you enjoyed this Luminate, Arley Hall, Cheshire review vlog and if you're interested in seeing how it looked two years ago when it hosted the Harry Potter Forbidden Forest Experience, then check out our Harry Potter vlog,

⭐ About Postcard & A Pint:
Welcome to the official Postcard & A Pint TH-cam channel.
Postcard & A Pint was thought up by my partner, Rachel & myself, Wills one day while taking our daily 1 hour exercise during the lockdown of 2020. All of a sudden, we were spending more time together, not working 6 or 7 days a week in the arts industry, and binge watching travel programs, and we were actually really enjoying it, and it made us re-evaluate what was important in life for us. Now back to working 6 or 7 days a week again, with very little time off, our happy time is getting out there on our brief times off together and making short travel videos that we are now sharing with you. It's just a bit of fun, and great for our sanity. Your support is hugely appreciated x

The same year The Box of Delights arrived on television screens, Eastnor Castle was also used as the location for the music video for Slade's hit single "Run Runaway".
I'm Watching Box of delights on iplayer . Haven't seen it in yrs. I have to ask where did you purchase your box of delights from please.
Lovely video, full of festive atmosphere! 🎄🎵💙
Thank you so much for watching. It was very festive. 🍻
For anybody that doesn't want to pay the extortionate costs of visiting Stone Henge, you can see it for free! Just park at Lark Hill Barracks, walk down a lane (with other people, locals and dog walkers along the same path), after 10 minutes you will see the stones, you can cross the National Trust field as it has a pathway (no dogs allowed in the field) and you arrive at Stone Henge which is 20 metres away! It's all free!
Cheers for the heads up! We did see that road as we got to the site. There were a fair few MH parked along that road it seemed. We loved our visit (and our was free too thanks to Cadw!!). Cheers 🍻
Hope you have the best Christmas ever 🧑🎄 🤗and a happy new year 🥳 💎 💎🍷 🍻 debs xx
Ah thanks Debs. We hope you're well. Have the best Christmas and all the best for 2025 🍻
@ mega ditto debs xx 🤗 💎 💎 🍻 xx
This year we went back to the NMA light show, which was similar but next year we'll need somewhere different so thank you for this one. It will be a toss up between here and Trentham. Warm wishes from Millionaire Paul 👍
I think they have a fair few of these across the country. Cheers 🍻
Morning guys Always went to Blackpool when I was younger. So great to see. Lots of memories I bet going up Blackpool Tower on a night was great. Only ever gone up during the day. Awww great photos of your mum Rach. A fabulous video £1 burger great value. He looked a character. Hope you're having a good weekend ❤
Thanks guys. We too have don memories of Blackpool as kids. We definitely recommend the tower at night, the views are incredible! Cheers for watching and have a great Christmas 🍻
I am not keen on the arvia LoL it' is the same, very drab, even the silent disco was rubbish they were only a few up ..😅.. they are not all qualified too i went to a seminar on how they got there jobs an how much they learn ect it is just like a ex factor thing when they all que up and they narrow them down to the final one's no experience nessasary 😑
Thanks for watching. We were a bit sceptical about Iona before we went, but loved it. To be honest we didn't see too many staff so can't comment. Cheers 🍻
He probably was thinking of the money 😅
😆 🍻
New subscriber here. I love your videos especially the ones in Wales ❤
Thank you so much and welcome to the channel. We love travelling around in Wales! We've seen a lot since we started the channel. Cheers 🍻
A beautiful experience, these light shows are becoming quite popular and they're wonderful to experience. I've just done the ones through the Botanic Gardens, no forest near where I live. The forest experience looks really magical.
I bet it's pretty on a botanic gardens too. This one was really magical and not bad value too. Cheers 🍻
Wow! This looks Amazing!😮 Ah yes, first food! Gotta get good food first. Lol The talking tree is an awesome start and with the same witty jokes like Wills! 😅 Awe...a mistletoe booth!🤗 So cute!😊 This event seriously was simply stunning. Everything was very well done and the video quality was still very good. We still use a camcorder, so we don't know of anything we could recommend for low light. Lolol We completely appreciate you guys, showing this to us, and we hope the fairy will grant you your wish!👍🙏
Thanks so much for watching. It was a really lovely way to spend the evening and not too badly priced either. Yep, take us to the food trucks!!! Cheers 🍻
Enjoyed that. Looked like a very nice evening. Good to see everyone enjoying it. DJI Osmo is way better in low light. Top tip though even for GoPro. Film in 4k 25fps. Helps stop the flicker as Europe is 50hz. So half of that. Great vid guys. I do have an issue with the price of these things though. But then again I am an old Scrooge. Cheers 🍺
Cheers for the heads up on the osmo and the 4K! Never go on the Harry Potter one if you're a bah humbug! That was was double and some!! This was a lively way to spend the evening and we really enjoyed it! We'll be catching up with your vid tonight. Cheers 🍻
@ 25 fps deffo makes a difference whether on the phone GoPro or whatever. Ha ha not really a bag humbug just think the prices of these displays etc can be crazy. Maybe I’m just tight. 🤣🤣
I loved that. So pretty. Thank you for taking us along with you. x
Thank you for joining us. It was very pretty! Cheers 🍻
This was really magical guys. You are right, there is something so special about light in the forest 🌟 🌲❤. The lights making it look like it was snowing were stunning, never seen that before ❄️☃️. Rach, your face when that guy pushed in on the game was priceless 😂. How rude! Ooh toasted marshmallows around the fire, love it 😍🔥. And cheesy chips to round off, nice snack ordering guys 😋👌 (hope the tooth is feeling better now Rach). Think the ticket price was actually pretty reasonable for this event👍. Made us sad seeing the fairies in cages too 😢 🧚♀️. Cool trick, but surely they could have put the ipads in some kind of platform in the trees instead. Anyway, fairy prison aside, we absolutely loved a stroll around Luminate, and our trainers stayed clean too😂👌. Fabulously festive video guys, keep em coming! It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas 🎄🌟🎅👏 Have a great week, Shell and Pete 🤗👊👍
It's not a bad price is it! Harry Potter was at least double that of not more!! It was a lovely walk and the displays were great (except the fairies in cages!!!). The snacks were excellent, I quite enjoyed toasting my marsh mallow on an open fire! The tooth - well gap is healing nicely!! Cheers for watching and have a great week. (That goat on your video last night had us howling!!!). Cheers 🍻
nice christmas illumination welcome looks cool 🌞have a cool week🔆👍like☑full view✅🥸Au🦘*
Thanks so much, we really enjoyed it there
Hello, guys!! Such a festive and beautiful atmosphere! Enjoyed it a lot, my friends! Looks truly magical and fascinating!Always beautiful moments spent on your channel, guys! HUGS and my huge like and happy week waiting for Christmas! Renata
Thank you so much Renata, sending Welsh hugs (or cwtch's) back atcha. Cheers
@PostcardAndAPint Cheers to you, dear friends!!😘😘
Looks lovely, I’m watching this from Melbourne in 37% heat so it’s nice to see a bit of cold 😊
Ah thank you. We love the cold and winter, but can't help feeling slightly jealous of your weather at times haha. Cheers
@ hot weather and Christmas is just not the same though.
I love Delamere Forest. i allso like the Whitegate way
It's really pretty isn't it. Not heard of Whitegate way before, we'll have to check it out. Cheers
@PostcardAndAPint yes the Whitegate way is in winsford
Love love this magical adventure!! Wills I think you’ve met your joke mate with Mr. tree 😂😂! We found our new DJ Osmo pocket 3 is very good in low light much better than GoPro. I’ll try to send you some footage. Great video guys!!!!! ~Cara ❤
Thanks both and yes, that would be great, thanks Cara x
This was super guys very magical! I remember last years video and the Harry Potter theme! I’m a HP fan but thought this year was much better! Mmm toasted marshmallows! Fabulous have a great week ahead ❤
Thanks guys!! Loved your Krampus run vid x
Smashing! We have a similar event near us. Next year.....! We have a big request. Can you do us a tiny video of you saying Llanfairpwllgwyngyll.. etc......? Full credit and all that jazz! Xxxx and hugs N&Nx
@@grapesodatravels of course, will do tomorrow as we’ve drunk far too much wine tonight 😂🍷
@PostcardAndAPint snap! Sunday juice has been consumed! Neil says he wants both versions! Tipsy and sober! ;) Nx
@ 😂😂😂 x
Looks like a quality place to stay! And you know we were enticed by that breakfast 😁
Thanks, and yes, the breakfast was good!!! haha
That was lovely. Will have to look into what they're doing there next year. ❤😊
It was really pretty. Yeah, hopefully they'll do something like this next year. Cheers as always
Is it wheelchair accesible
The website says yes, but at your own caution. When it's dry, I'm sure it's fine, but on the wet it does get muddy and they advise caution. We hope that helps. Cheers 🍻
Thanks mate will have to take the chance booked it now
All in all that was definitely worth it. You guys filmed the lights perfectly! It’s not easy to film at night. It’s like you know what you’re doing!
Thanks mate, I wouldn't go as far as saying we know what we're doing though haha
That was Tinker bell in the cage. I hope Disney doesn’t sue 😂
It did look like Tinkerbell didn't it!!
Wow, that place looks amazing. The lights take your mind off of the fact that you’re hiking through the mud. 🤣
It was amazing, in hindsight, maybe white trainers weren't the best choice
Fairies do exist. You’re living with one Rach. Open the front door and watch him FLOAT AWAY!!
Ooh Ken haha
Love this, thank you x
Thank you so much for watching and for your comment
Thanks for this video. I've just sat through two hours (four episodes) of "The Box of Delights" on BBC4 and thoroughly enjoyed it! I wasn't that impressed when I first saw it in 1984, but then I was 21 and not really the target audience. Now I'm old enough to once again appreciate the inexplicably magical Xmas feeling that this programme produces. Right at the end of the last episode, I suddenly realised that the railway station that Kay walked through was in fact Arley Station, on the Severn Valley Railway line. I got a bit excited then, jumped up and started pointing at the TV, telling my young son where it was. I have fond memories of Arley, as we'd been there a few times, in happier days. I was determined to check, so a quick web search led me to your interesting TH-cam programme. I was delighted to learn that the other station shown in the first episode is Bewdley. The other locations included Bewdley town itself, Bromyard, Tewkesbury, Tewkesbury Abbey, Eastnor Castle and Hereford Cathedral, and sundry country lanes in the Severn Valley that we have driven along. With the exception of Eastnor, these are all places that my late partner and I visited many times. So watching your TH-cam programme added considerably to the experience of watching the Box of Delights itself for me.
Thank you so much for watching. We had so much fun making this video and that part of the country is absolutely stunning. We're so glad we brought back some happy memories for you. We were avid fans of the show in 1984, but we've found watching it this year so much more special knowing all the locations now. Thanks for watching and have a splendiferous Christmas 🍻
Smoke and mirrors 😂
It always is!!
I'll bet that seeing the fairies in cages has made many a young girl cry, 😮. Great review guys, I have never had toasted marshmallow, now I really want to 😋. Like deployed 👍
Haha, thanks mate. You need to toast some marshmallows!!!! Cheers
There are so many of these Christmas experiences cropping up all over the place, and you certainly had some fun here. I'll try and find a few next year. I use my phone for all my low light shots, then my GoPro. My little DJI wasn't up to it from previous experiences.
Cheers Alice. Thanks for watching and we do recommend these experiences, they're magical. Thanks for the heads up on cameras too x
I went to that hotel twice a year for 15 years with my hubby but on my own now and 75 but we loved it
We’re so sorry you’re on your own, but I hope this video brought back some happy memories. Thank you so much for taking the time to comment and we wish you a very happy Christmas 🎄
I have never been to the Manchester Christmas markets. It's just never appealed to me. Was great to see it on two different occasions from your perspective 😊❤️🎄
Cheers for watching. To be honest it's not our favourite one. I went to Chester this morning and that one is much nicer. It was interesting to see though. The weather certainly didn't help!!! Cheers for watching 🍻
This looked similar to the hotels we use to stay in hotel Blackpool many moons ago. We like a homely feel to a hotel too🤗. Room looked nice a clean, hot shower, nice food and evening entertainment to boot👌. We did think it was on the pricey side for what you got, but as we say it has been a long time since we stayed in Blackpool, and good to know that the prices fluctuate depending on when you stay. Great review guys! We do love a cheeky bonus video 😊🤗👏. Have a fab weekend, Shell and Pete 😊👍
Ah cheers guys. Yes we agree it was expensive, but we couldn't have picked a worse weekend to be honest! Last Saturday of the season with illuminations!! Bad times! We had fun though and we'd definitely stay there again. Cheers for watching and we hope you're well. 🍻
This room looked very cozy. The hotel was so beautiful and the location seems pretty perfect. Love the energy and entertainment. Great to hear you got a very good sleep and a great breakfast. Excellent tour and full review, guys. We always appreciate these!👍
Thanks so much. It's nothing flashy or posh, but had a real homely feel and feels much loved. Cheers for watching 🍻
Wow! Being in Manchester seems unpredictable and risky. Lol It looks pretty fantastic to me. Sorry it wasn't feeling festive. 😕 Maybe the wetness played a part. Glad to see you found your sausage!😊 Cathedral Gardens definitely is very beautiful. Ohh...and sausage!😂 Happy to hear the raving review of the Strudel, Wills.😊 We completely enjoyed this adventure, guys. Christmas is our favorite time of year, but we agree, its been way too commercialized and with things being expensive can definitely put a damper on the Christmas spirit. Thanks, guys!!!
Thanks for watching. To be honest no one does a Christmas market like the Germans and Austrians! We'd love to go back there. Manchester was ok, definitely not our favourite uk Christmas market, it's way too over priced, but we found sausage and strudel so all was good! Yep the uk weather can be so miserable!!! Cheers 🍻
Looks like somewhere we would stay too. Its not that we don’t like upmarket stylish hotels, just think as long as it’s clean, good beds, nice staff and well situated…perfect. Ill remember this. You never know! 👍🇳🇱🧑🎄🥝
Thanks and yes, absolutely. Clean, comfy and lovely staff are more important to us too. We loved it there x
Sorry guys, have had a bad case of disappearing comments lately😩. This is the first year i (Shell) haven't been dragged by friends to the Manchester Christmas markets in about 7 years, and i have loved the break (so has my bank balance😂). I've always found them to be way too busy, and way too expensive. I also totally agree with you Rach, they definitely lost a lot of atmosphere since they haven't held the main markets outside the town hall, with Santa on the top of the hall 🎅. At £18 for two drinks, it is daylight robbery! And also excludes a lot of people from enjoying the festivities. We also found that there is an awful lot of food and drink stalls, which have replaced a lot of the craft stalls, and there is only so much food and drink you can consume, and afford! However, It was almost worth going for the cheese stalls, almost!😂🧀. Well my very bah humbug rant over 😂🙈. We were glad to see you find your Manchester mojo, find sausage, and find your Christmas spirit 😊🙌. Think this was a very fair representation of the Manchester Christmas markets, and love your positivity and perseverance guys, great video 😊👏🎄. Merry Christmas! Have a great week, Shell and Pete
Compared to the European ones, they certainly lack atmosphere and the prices are through the roof this year. I don't think we'll get to any others to compare (might stick my head into Chester's this weekend!!). Sad to report that the cheese wasn't a patch on Snowdonia!! We feel very much the same about the U.K. markets and long to find a Dickensian or Victorian market!! Or we'll head off to Europe when we can! Cheers for watching 🍻
Thats a great Xmas welcome for you both! Great tips re pricing and times. Like the modern decor in the room. Great shot of the walkers! Good old Shakin entertainment. Good bed and water review! Nice looking breakfast. A decent standard stay. 👍
It is honestly a fine place to stay. Dates, yes, but people return time after time so it has a really homely feel to it! The entertainment each night is a bonus! We loved it! Cheers 🍻
While the markets aren't in as pretty surroundings as the European mainland markets, there was certainly a good selection of nice looking stalls, but no sausages .... what is going on there and the british prices for the mulled wine..... wow!! Shame about the rotten weather on trip one. Pleased you found your festive mojo
Thank you! Yes you can't beat the settings of some of the European ones. We found the sausages in the end, but the prices were notably more expensive this year! Cheers for watching 🍻
it's a shame the this once great city was surrendered to the practitioners of the "religion of peace"...
It's still there if you look hard! Cheers 🍻
Looks slightly dated but neat and tidy. I love Shaky too... N&Nx
It's dated, but we think that's why people love it! Wills loves Shaky!!!! Cheers 🍻
Hi guys looks lovely there
It really is. Cheers 🍻
What is it with you Brits and breakfast beans? 🤢
It’s a nice looking hotel, great location. You couldn’t get that close to the ocean in Miami for £49 on a week day.
We've never tried to get a room in Miami, also we've never heard Rhyl and Miami compared!!! 🤣🍻
Yeah, supply & demand will kill you on the price.
Certainly will!
