- Welcome to our, LONDON Royal To Modern - A Guided Tour From Buckingham Palace To The Shard vlog.
In this London Guided Walking Tour, we take you on a journey of some of London's most famous sites starting at the Royal Buckingham Palace and finishing at the Shard, the UK's highest building in the UK.
After starting our London guided tour at Buckingham Palace, we take a look at the changing of the guards, before we head down The Mall and take a look at the Horse Guards Building.
Our London walking tour then takes us over to Trafalgar Square, where we see the National Gallery, then we make our way down Whitehall towards Big Ben, stopping for a light refreshment at the Old Shades pub, past Downing Street and towards Westminster.
A quick look at Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament, we go over Westminster Bridge and walk along the Southbank, past the London Eye and all the London South Bank has to offer.
A quick stop for something to eat, then we take a walk over the Waterloo Bridge, over the Strand, passing the Lyceum Theatre then to Covent Garden, where we have a look around the famous piazza and market.
Down Fleet Street next, passing the Royal Courts of Justice, passing the Twinings Building and some more pubs, we take another short stop in one of our favourite London Pubs, Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese.
Once refreshed, we take the short walk, taking in sights such as St Paul's Cathedral, then over Blackfriars Bridge and head towards London Bridge, taking a quick detour to another of our favourite London Pubs, The George. The only remaining gallery caching inn in London, dating from Shakespeare's time, then we finally make it to one of the most iconic landmarks, The London Shard.
Although not the highest structure, the Shard is the tallest building in the whole of the UK.
The Shard gives us stunning views over the whole of London and we take in the sights accompanied by a nice glass of champagne.
As always, we sum up our trip at the end with a well deserved pint.

Welcome to the official Postcard & A Pint TH-cam channel.
Postcard & A Pint was thought up by my partner, Rachel & myself, Wills one day while taking our daily 1 hour exercise during the lockdown of 2020. All of a sudden, we were spending more time together, not working 6 or 7 days a week in the arts industry, and binge watching travel programs, and we were actually really enjoying it, and it made us re-evaluate what was important in life for us. Now back to working 6 or 7 days a week again, with very little time off, our happy time is getting out there on our brief times off together and making short travel videos that we are now sharing with you. Oh Loved the changing of the guard. Cracked up at the gate comment 🤣🤣! He did have a struggle with it didn't he? Lovely Canadian memorial. I too missed Humpty! Stunning buildings...In Amsterdam you dodged the bikes, in London the busses! Love old English pubs. Nice you explained about Big Ben- so many people don't know that fact. Lunch looked great though those peppers aren't my thing. Loved the market stalls....what a great pubs. STUNNING, I can't think of another or better word for the view from the Shard. I was going to ask if there was a maximum time in the Shard. Lovely video. Hope the gums are feeling a lot better now Rachel. 👌🇳🇱🙋♀🥝
There are some great pubs in London, as I remember from my youth! I've visited so many cities around the world, but London is still the greatest.
It is a great city isn't it and to think that changing of the guard is out on 4 times a week too! Yep there are so many brilliant pubs with so much history! We'll have to go back and try more. Cheers for watching 🍻

That was a fun video! The views of Tower Bridge and the HMS Belfast are great from the Shard! We love London and have been multiple times. I spent three weeks there during the 2012 London Olympics. What a fun time that was.

Fab video as always Rach and Wills. We settled in to watch this on Sunday evening after a sunny walk, so a cold beer was in order, cheers 🍻. The pomp isn't for us, way too many people!😮 But we are glad you guys endured the crowds so we could see the changing of the guard 😂👌. My (Shell) late mum and my auntie took me and my sister to London for our 13th birthdays, the only time we have ever done the tourist thing, we went to Buckingham Palace, trafalgar Square, hamleys toy shop (not iconic but added by me and my sister😂, and finished by going to see beauty and beast at the west end. So this brought back some lovely memories😍. You guys got the steps in today! If there is one available, you have to shelter in a pub when it rains, it is the law!😂🍻. Some fantastic pubs and pints along the way. Big Ben is quite the site to behold. To be fair, the Shard did look very impressive, love a bit of fizz 🥂🍾. You would think they could afford a few fold out chairs though, told off for sitting on the floor, how rude! 😮😂. Still a great crimbo present from your sis though Rach🎁👌. Glad to see you guys made it back to Welsh Wales safely. Hope the gums heal up soon Rach, ouch🫢. A brilliantly edited video as always guys, although you couldn't edit out Wills mood😂😂😤 (Pete would have been worse! Probably wouldn't have filmed at all!😂).

Thanks so much guys. This has been the busiest week ever at work so we feel really behind on the TH-cam! We have some catching up to do! We do like London, but only now and again! I think we've had our fill for a while. Yes, it was a very touristy day and you can't deny that London does have some amazing sights! So many of the great iconic postcard views of London for sure! The toy shop would really be one of those more obscure visits, but one that I would sure enjoy! Yup, pull up a chair and sit on the floor! Yea, that would have cheesed me off a bit. But all in all, it sure looked like it was a marvelous day and a well spent six hour tour versus an hour as the crow flies. Always enjoy your adventures!!

Impressive amount of walking that you did! The Changing of the Guard had so many people, I've been to a few Trooping of the Colour parades infront of the palace, I've learnt that you need to be strategic where you stand to watch. I laughed when I saw that people who obviously got there really early to get what they thought was prime position at the front of the palace, had their view totally obstructed by the band horses, the ones which the musicians ride, they sit on their horses at the front of the palace for the whole time! The only thing those people saw was the backside of horses! Don't stand infront of the palace on the righthandside looking at the palace, somewhere along the Mall is the place to stand. Once the carriages and parading soldiers go past, it's a very quiet hour until they all parade back, we were kept amused by the horse poop machine cleaner up going down the Mall, it needs to be clean for the trip back!
I don't think we've ever attended trolling of the colour (or if we did we were kids!). It was great just absorbing the atmosphere of the changing of the guard and we felt lucky that it coincided with our day (no planning for us as you can gather!!). Cheers for watching 🍻

That's the last of London for a while! It was a lovely trip (then there was the GoPro trip and then wills went again for work! Were a bit Londoned out now. We do love the city, but we're definitely country types! Cheers for joining us, we're looking forward to your Spanish adventures 🍻

I can recommend Afternoon Tea at the Shard, there's a few different places that do it, being a bit fussy about what constitutes a good Afternoon Tea, I researched the menus. The restaurants/cafes/bars are not as high up, the one we ended up going to was on the 33rd (?) floor but we had a table by the window and the food was great (the research was helpful!) and we could enjoy the view in comfort.
I think that's what I'd seen pictures of!!! Saying that though, the views were stunning. Cheers 🍻

Have you had to reschedule because of any mishaps such as closed or too high cost more than anticipated?
This destinations are not for the UK PPL but also international visitors. Very informative complete tour guide.

No worries about GOPRO, ,will. I lost one in the sea. K7S lost it in the river during rappelling and one in the bottom of the sea. Our first drone sank into the sea by losing the signal hahahah Our cellphones are waterproof and I cannot tell you how many times we are saved it by.

Wow, that's an impressive amount of equipment gone to the sea!! We don't feel so bad now! London is a great city to visit and once you're by the Thames it's pretty walkable to a lot of the famous sights. We certainly saw a lot this day. I don't know the history of the bearskin hat sorry, I think they're just used for ceremonial use now. We hope all is well with you. Cheers 🍻

Thank you so much. We haven't made a walking map, but we could if you wanted us to. We didn't collect the exact steps, but looking at the data off our phones it looks about 15K steps. Cheers 🍻

Yes and No. they're on duty for a long time but they are on for 2 hours and then have 4 off I believe - this ceremony then happens to put a new team on.
