This is what I also I also advise my juniors, not unless you are exceptionally perfect in one skill, like the top 1th to 0.1th percentile you don't risk your career advancement by only only perfecting that one skill.
But if you are somewhere below that it's safer and wiser to span out your career umbrella to a wider array of fields. And especially those fields which are somewhat complimentary and useful to field you are already pursuing something that fills out the gaps, and not something that is entirely disconnected to what you are already pursuing.
Yes, wise words. How lucky they are to have you as a mentor!

Hi Shade... thanks for sharing. I have a question. I’ve been in mortgage industry for a long time but in my country. As a new immigrant in the US I’m trying to continue the career I love. I just got my license and I’ve applied without results so far for multiple jobs in the industry but I don’t know how to answer the question: How many years experience do you have? since I have no experience in the US. The job is the same , same goals, same wonderful feeling helping people reach their homeowner dream, but laws and procedures are different and I have everything to practice about that. What can I do to get my first job in Mortgage field with this weird situation of many years experience and no experience at all. Thanks so much for sharing your wisdom.
Hi Dilcia, Thank you for asking this question. There are new challenges with career whenever you relocate from one country to another and seek new employment. Well done on taking action and getting your license. I think that you need to make sure that your resume shows how well you performed in your previous roles and that your cover letter emphasizes how your previous experience will allow you to hit the ground running. Next I suggest that you offer to intern or to do voluntary work in exchange for experience. There might be some organizations that will be happy to accept you. Lastly, my husband and I are launching an online interview skills program soon that's fast and affordable. You might find it helpful if you feel that you need to boost your interview answers. If you follow me on instagram then you'll see a post when it's launched. Hopefully you get the right role before then. Keep persevering 💪

Hi Ang, we don't know of online programs for those areas of development. My husband recommends learning from Chris Voss (former FBI hostage negotiator). We will be launching programs on public speaking but not in the near future. Have you tried searching for well reviewed programs on sites like Udemy?
