An excellent introduction to an authoritative speaking! I've also noticed that your body language complements your words. I would greatly appreciate a video on that nonverbal part of the communication.
It is so true, when people speak fast it is hard to understand what they are saying. Slowing down pacing makes the person seem more confident. I like the idea of lowering my voice instead of trying to force things. Thank you Kara!
The best thing I ever did to learn to communicate more confidently was record myself on video. I had no idea what I sounded like, how poorly I articulated my speech, and I was shocked. Those initial recordings never made it to TH-cam. And what I got for making improvements was a larger audience than others who have posted hundreds of more videos than I have.
Yes before attending a meeting you should take a notebook and a pen when something is asked by others which is important from the meeting point of view then then write it down and think about it why it is important and your voice should be neither loud nor low so that each one easily get you when you speak .
You are absolutely right when you say that when you are too fast in speaking, it is difficult for everyone to comprehend. What I observed in you is that your speed is a bit fast because you are confident. You know what I mean. By the way I really appreciate your videos. I can learn a lot. Thank you. ❤❤❤
I always find difficulty in understanding American English accent. I was worried that I have a problem. Hearing this video I could understand every single world and meaning or every single sentence. Now I felt confident. Thank you❤
@@robertp.wainman4094 But the way she talked she is using the neutral american english. Only some words you will know that she is Australian or a person living in Australia because of her pronunciation the letters R and O
This video has exceeded my expectations! The presenter has a wealth of knowledge and experience, and the content is delivered in a way that is both informative and engaging. I particularly appreciated the focus on pacing and tone, which has really helped me to keep my audience engaged and interested. Highly recommend this video to anyone looking to take their leadership skills to the next level!
Perfect! I came here to confirm my thinking about the upswing. I used it a lot without noticing it until I saw a manager speaking like that in a conference. You cleared my doubt that now I should use rather the downswing. Thanks a lot! ❤
Excellent. To be a confident in speaking or better speaker, we should know the subject matter what we are speaking about and use the appropriate body language along with maintining our pace of speaking. Thanks a lot Kara for always giving us valuable knowledge.
Yes , outstanding. I will most certainly share this jewel. You are really applying what you are teaching. Very basic communication to help everyone at every level. I would like to hear you reading. Great work let’s work on getting the word out.
All my life, I've learned how not to speak. I found it is more practical, now I become stupid. But it is too late, I am 65 now. It is still good to know how to speak clearly.
I am 50. I started learning communication. I am seeing the benefits in few months. Until we die we have to communicate. You will still use these skills.
Fantastic, outstanding, brilliant video. Kara, wow, very impressive content, and i really find you as a presenter enthralling. Superb presentation. Thankyou again.
Thank you Kara for this insightful presentation it's really relevant it shows that you know what you talking about and I'm looking forward to your next one.. Thanks so much..
Good points We used to call the the upswing "up talking"--Common in the progressive academic community. I also noticed it 50 years ago in Hawaii and in Scotland where it seemed rather charming. I am glad you mentioned "sort of" and "kind of"; I hear these so much on NPR (in the USA). "
Thanks, Kara, for these helpful tips, and solutions for leaders! This is one of the areas I help Hispanic entrepreneurs who want to be Authorities in their industry or market. It is important to be ready, the best way, for TV, Radio, Podcast interviews or presentations, and for a voice note or recorded powerful message on a phone to a client, news producer, or show host. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

this video shows me the best ways to encourage my speaking, so we hope that you are a native speaker will help me to study English because I am a teacher in English at a vocational high school in West Papua. Please send me an easy and simple program for learning. I want to contact but what way I will use. Thank you
I've been trying out the upswing and downswing. It's interesting, but it seems like I sound grouchier with the downswing than the upswing. But it is less hesitant. 🤔
I didn't notice that vocal fry was a thing until recently. Having viewed some videos on the topic, I'm reminded of this author whose subject matter is AI and its adverse impacts. Her name is Whitney Webb. As I have seen several of her videos, I wondered if anyone would bother to listen to her and say whether she speaks in vocal fry. There's something pronounced about how she expresses in this regard.

hi, this video is really helpful to me. I would like to request you to make a video on how can we work or enhance the clarity on our pronunciation of words. thanks
Amazing content ! I'm not an English native speaker ,and I found interesting the fact some English speakers don't notice they do have a question mark ,similar to Japanese. In English you guys use auxiliaries verbs (do,did, will ...) or put the verb first(be) plus the rising intonation. But there languages that really don't have any question mark, only the intonation will tell if it is a question or not. That's the case of portuguese and Spanish. That's very interesting! Again thank you for amazing tips !
The upswing is, in my experience, a British thing. When I first moved to Britain I noticed people did that. I caught the habit of it and when I moved back to the states everyone looked at me weird when I did it.
Thanks Kara ! I like this advice of taking a breath, pause ,sloe down your speech!

The hesitancy tip is a great one. When the leader comes across as not believing in self, it definitely detracts from the message.
