Seeing a lot of comments asking why I didn’t stay for 2 more months. It was a SIGN-ON bonus (different to a regular annual bonus). The contract had a clause stating that if I left within 12 months of receiving this bonus, I would need to repay it...that's why I talk about staying for another year in the video!

When I worked for a big IT company, I saw my immediate boss being fired. Later than day, I was asked to meet the CEO and Sales director and was offered the job. I looked out of the window at the new car that came with the job, and thought about the jump in pay. But I knew what I had to do. I turned down the job and left the company. This reminds me of an excerpt from Will's memoir:
“The thing I’ve learned over the years about advice is that no one can accurately predict the future, but we all think we can. So advice at its best is one person’s limited perspective of the infinite possibilities before you. People’s advice is based on their fears, their experiences, their prejudices, and at the end of the day, their advice is just that: it’s theirs, not yours. When people give you advice, they’re basing it on what they would do, what they can perceive, on what they think you can do. But the bottom line is, while yes, it is true that we are all subject to a series of universal laws, patterns, ties, and currents, - all of which are somewhat predictable - you are the first time you’ve happened. YOU and NOW are a unique occurrence, of which you are the most reliable measure of all possibilities.”

It all depends on how long you're willing to hold for, stocks might likely tank further, but making serious gains in this downtrend wouldn't be a problem if you're a pro.Reason I decided to work closely with an brokerage-adviser ever since the market got really tensed and the pressure became so much(I should be retiring in 17months) so I've had an brokerage-adviser guide me through the chaos, its been 9months and counting and I've made approx. 650K net from all of my holdings.

I am proud of you Nischa. 👍👍 It takes a lot of courage on what you did. I left my high paying job in the IT industry back in 2006 without a backup. My general manager and manager failed to do what was right vs making themselves feel they were right. I went back to my desk and wrote my resignation letter with two weeks notice. The president of the grand corporation flew from Singapore for an emergency meeting on why I resigned. I extended my 2 weeks notice to 6 months because no one could comprehend what I knew and do for the company, even my manager who is a distant relative (reason for the extension). I resigned based on principles. Without good and proper fundamental principles, we have nothing. Fast forward to 2023, I have my own IT business, trading and invest the financial markets, have side hustles, and continue to have more freedom with the security of not working for someone. The best part of all this, the time I was without work, I was able to diagnose Mommy on her GI issues (Crohn’s Disease) within 6 months, treated her, and now she is in full remission to this day. As I always say..... things happen for a reason. I am all smiles for you Nischa! ❤

Then, you start to think about yourself and your goals in life. I also just turned 30 last year and realized that making so much money is not worth sacrificing your well-being. Health=Wealth. I also had a side business that I had started in the beginning of my career, and now the side business pays for my bills and mortgage. A little bit of advice… Never quit your 9-5 job merely based on mental health or “job freedom” without a solid backup plan. If your current job is paying your bills consistently, stick with that until “an obvious” financial opportunity presents itself first or you may possibly put yourself in a downward spiral that may have long term negative results.. Well done for saying NO and taking control of your life. Lot's of people talk about being unhappy but never do anything about it. About 6 years ago, I quit my day job without having a concrete plan. I was that guy that didn't have any savings to fall back on, but I knew I had to take the risk because if I had stayed, I'd slip further into depression, become even more negative, further damage my relationship with my girlfriend (now wife) and our beautiful son would not have been born - sounds extreme, but it's the truth. Leaving gave me the sense of worth I needed. I had no major responsibilities at the time so it was a great opportunity to reevaluate life, study up and create something for myself. Honestly, it was the best decision of my life.

Something I’ve learned during my professional career goes into the same direction Obama mentioned. Never judge a decision that has been made retrospectively. Too many factors could come into play that are unknown. Only judge the decision making process and question if all factors have been taken into consideration at that point in time. And refreshing to see someone following his value compass. Don’t underestimate how many people are in the same situation and realised the same about their employer. The credo is to run with the system for a certain time until you don’t have to anymore.

23 months later, the company had another re-structure and myself (and others with the same stock vest) were let go 1 month before a 2 year vest. Hard lesson, but the most valuable, now I take the paycheck and give nothing more. You are a number.

The smile is beautiful & inspiring for sure! I’ve been in a back and forth/ tug of war mode these days but your video has definitely helped provide some clarity for a stranger like me. Well done and wish you more of what makes you smile😊

I appreciate your perspective and decision. There are also people on the other side of the story like me. My ‘why’ is coherent with working in IB and I’m also interested in it beyond the paycheck or status. But still I’ve not been able to get in yet. So in a way being able to do what you really want is also a privilege and equally hard 😅

Lucky you came to this (or these) conclusion(s) so early in your career.... it took me (and many others) a lifetime ... Now I work on passing this experience onto my son and help him avoid such an inflection (and introspection) point in his life. I'll definitely use your vids as arguments!

Nischa, thank you for sharing so authentically. I love your story and I love your passion. I left my investment banking job in my early twenties for similar reasons and I know the courage it took you for making this decision. You deserve everything and more! Keep going and keep producing great content! I am proud of you ✅

You sound like a good, kind person Nischa. Good on you for having professional scruples and values. Wishing you a future following your 'Why', be full of love, kindness, positivity and building a life you truly love to live everyday.

There are no words to say how much I LOVED this video. So real and raw in a world full of such unrealistic standards. So proud of you Nischa. Thank you for sharing with us your journey and giving people the courage each week to break away from this rat race mindset and be true to themselves ❤❤❤
