As an Australian, I lived in Tuvalu as a child in the 1970’s on the Island of Amatuku. My father, the late Capt Ken Barnett, ran the Maritime College. Many young men learned about all things marine and received qualifications to get jobs in shipping around the world. I wish, I could use my skills to improve Tuvalu’s environmental future!
Paul Barnett.the name Capt Barnett in the Tuvalu Maritime Training Institute in Amatuku where you raise up during your childhood hhh every course will know about your Dad,his history still passing on.Some of the staffs who worked under him during his time are in Heaven 😭One day you will visit Amatuku hhhh
I was working with Tuvalu people on German shopping company as a sefarer. They Are one of the best people in the world. IT was pleasure to work with them.
Kia ora Tuvalu, In April 1987 I was fortunate to travel and stay in Funafuti, Tuvalu for almost 2 weeks. My role then working for New Zealand Civil Aviation was to help with their newly installed weather radar system along with a NZ technician who was based there. Back then the most striking thing I noticed was how perilous the Tuvaluan lives being surrounded by a huge ocean. The highest point was pile of seaside coral reef (2-3 metres/8-10 feet high) driven up there by Hurricane Bebe in the early 1970s. On one particular morning mountainous waves crashed over the lagoon-side reef on to our hotel roof. The floor of my hotel room was covered with sea water. This looked normal to the locals who just took it in their daily lives. High sea levels and ground-water affecting their homes was plainly evident way back then. As a Maori and Polynesian like the Tuvaluans these people were magic. My most brilliant memory was their food. If you love fresh wonderful fresh kaimoana (sea food) this is the certainly place to be. More importantly, countries like NZ need to be open to re-house our Tuvaluan and Polynesian cousins when they decide to leave for safer homes.
It's a lovely video The scenery is pretty and yet it's so tiny . The perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle of people enabling one to really ponder and think what is really important and what is not . The perfect place to feel free .
I was last in Funafuti around 1992 when I visited from Tarawa, Air Marshall Islands used to fly to Funafuti from Majuro via Tarawa and then on to Nadi. The place looks much more crowded from your view from above, looks like more have migrated in from the outer islands. Lovely people, so happy, I stayed at the Vaiaku Lagi hotel on the lagoon side and also at the Catholic Mission resthouse on other trips.
Reading a little more about the plights faced by the locals it's a little scary that's my thoughts only ..... Big seas cyclones etc and in years to come it may no longer exist . I believe it's a moral obligation of the governments worldwide to really understand this predicament as time goes ever so quickly . Seriously ,I wish I was a good fairy and had that wand to sprinkle help and goodwill . The airport 2 flights a week through Fiji Airlines would really be a concern for other aviation carriers .. Gosh dogs pigs motor bikes on the runway .golly gosh ,it works if only 2 planes land a week and runway is in great condition but the children are playing on it ..I would be a nervous wreck that something could go very wrong though Iguess people are aware of the flight times etc Even these small planes my goodness take time to stop on a runway . I think the plane is ATR 72 500 or 600 but could well be wrong . Really lovely place so comfy and relaxed I simply worry about climate change and I feel as I mentioned earlier Different Governments should get together and seriously see what is going on and give help before it's too late It's a moral obligation at least . So close to Fiji really .and yet tourism countries such as Australia where I reside are willing to give and I believe more governments should do the same to this place to make life worthwhile

But living on such a small atoll string of tiny islands has always had to have its share of many risks. Certainly, the people living there 2 feet from the ocean must know that.
What the fack, to free Palestin they need to be humble, look at Tuvalu and all the Idlanders or South Pacific Island, we small and poor but we live a happy life and enjoy life to the fullest, we all Christian Countries, no war or whatsoever, For war Countries, instead of using wealth to save lives, they kill life, so being a Islander we happy for what we have, as long as we live and follow our Chistian value, to love, forgive and respect
It would also be vastly Overpopulated! Why do you think these things happen? It’s all for a reason. All except climate change, which is nonsense. That takes place over thousands of years, not just a few years!!
OMG how was this ever allowed could have been free from humans a paradise free of humans and not an island in trouble of rising sea levels but sinking with the weight of humans and buildings .

Tom brady could throw a football from one side to the other
In places, yes he could

Good planning can turn it into a mini version of Singapore.

If God never invented disasters like Tsunami and Earthquake, and no climate change threat, this would be a lovely place to live
It would also be vastly Overpopulated! Why do you think these things happen? It’s all for a reason. All except climate change, which is nonsense. That takes place over thousands of years, not just a few years!!

Please allow me to use the video clip to make an educational video.
Just fill the atoll with gravel its very shallow anyways
Not sure that's the ideal solution
