I haven't seen the place since their Independence Day in 1978, I can't even recognize it. I think the yellow/blue/green building (3:34) in front of the airport building could have been where the celebration ceremony & dinner took place. Back then, the gas station was a barrel with a hand pump, I think only 1 car, some scooters and I don't remember any windows on the homes, openings yes, but no glass. Lots of thatch roofs. A hotel with an old timey soda machine in the lobby that had beer in it. It was my first ship, my first deployment and a genuine honor to be present on that memorable occasion!
What a beautiful plane ride! And they open up the airstrip to chill on? That's so cool.
+My Peripatetic Life yea it was a surreal experience. There are only a max of two flights on certain days. So walking and playing on the runway is normal ! I'm gonna share a short little uncut video of that.

I'll have to go to USA then Fiji then Tuvalu.
And it's so expensive to fly all those countries, and I'll probably do that near 2030, where Tuvalu can be already erased from the map. Problably, this dream will never come true. Hopefully, I can go there someday.

I have always liked Oceania, including Tuvalu. Tuvalu is absolutely beautiful. I hope that this little country can grow in their GDP, but the innocence stays the same and won't be taken over by companies/people/gvt who wish to exploit its beauty. Please God, keep Tuvalu and its people protected and take care of them!

What is the simplest way to get there in Tuvalu. I'm from Philippines by the way.
It's only airport is served by Fiji Airways from either Nadi or Suva in Fiji. You have to get to Fiji first.

Why is everyone from yes theory im from hearing about the country
Yes Theory has over a million subscribers so that’s a massive global population that has seen it and knows about Tuvalu when before it they hadn’t. I found out about Tuvalu 3 years ago when in mainly wanted to visit Kiribati and learned about Tuvalu for 1) being a Polynesian nation and 2) climate change

Back in 2018, WiFi was in a couple of location but was known to be unreliable. So getting a SIM card with a local phone plan was your best bet 😎

If you do visit Tuvalu. Just got with no expectations other than opening your heart and soul to the people and culture. Can guarantee you will learn alot about Tuvalu will just a simple open heart.

They need to stop taking coral from the water as reefs protect during bad weather.

Pretty sure prince Harry was on that 737 as we dont usally get 73s to Nausori (Suva) alot. Its usally just a 737 from Fiji Airways but covid halted that and now the runway isn't cleared for those operations anymore ;(

I'm currently travelling South Korea, then Singapore before moving to Australia for a year. At some point I would like to make this happen but I've checked flights from fiji and its more expensive than I though 😆
Flights are surely not cheap but it's the only way other than flying from Kiribati which in essence is, INSANELY more expensive. :(
its sad everyone is so in love with this country due to how its come across in yes theary's video when really its one of the poorest nations in the world, there is no safe water and loads are starving to death
Thank you for your comment. I actually traveled to Tuvalu AND posted this video way before Yestheory had anything to do with Tuvalu. And I had my own two reasons for coming here. Climate change and Polynesian culture. The “ least Travel country in the world” factor was something I didn’t realize until YesTheory. Tuvalu is a developing nation with poor to lack of infrastructure and that excluding the reality of climate change. Was a blessing to have have an opportunity to connect with this culture. How did you get a flight there? I’m trying to find one
Chances are you;'re not going to find one as much of the Pacific is still closed off. So websites won't show any results. Or if they do, it will be something unrealistic like 5 stops and a price tag of a couple thousand US.
