If you want to make it look really nice, save a small piece of the hard-boiled yolk and grate it over the open-faced sandwiches at the end! 🕺 Heh enjoy guys - this sandwich is the best!

You can make this with American mayo, but Japanese mayo tastes A LOT more different (creamer and sweeter) and you’ll get a different end product

just gotta season the american mayo with some rice vinegar, butter, and sugar (or sugar substitute for low carbers). itll be much better

I make egg sandwiches with the same ingredients but I haven’t brought myself to put the honey mustard in. I actually add a touch of Cumin and Chili Powder. My dad was South Indian so I incorporate that. I also throw on some chives but thought about trying cilantro.

So I tried making this recipe this morning for my family. I was lazy so I didn't grate the yolk but just keep stirring it until the consistency resembled yours in the video. I didn't have breakfast roll so I just stuck it between 2 loaf of plain bread and the family loved it! My 3yo has requested that I make it again for breakfast tomorrow morning 😁 Wife said it tasted like store made!

Made this for lunch, soooo good. Turns out you can't get honey mustard here (Australia) at least not at my normal supermarket, so I used Dijon and added some honey. Also used brioche as I couldn't find soft little rolls (Asian bakery closed, damn u covid!)
Yuuuuuum. My advice with the eggs is make sure they are simmering properly, I turned mine down too far and they weren't quite cooked enough (just made it harder to sieve them, still tasted great)

3:07. just fyi, folks - the attention to detail goes even further. If you remove the cap from a Kewpie mayo bottle, the bottle outlet is star shaped so you can pipe out decorative mayo. I kid you not.

The egg yolk thru the strainer is a nice technique, but I think adding all the sauces, then mixing with the yolk , and lastly folding in the chopped egg whites at the end might be a better order.

I'm going to try that. In my family our mother taught us to finely grade a carrot. To add a bright color, crunch, and a bit of sweetness. How much is up to you. Do you want afn orange egg salad or and egg salad sprinkled with orange pieces. We used regular mayo but no mustard. That sweet Japanese mayo and honey mustard is a nice twist.

Pretty similar, morning rolls are pretty soft but of course you have the light crust on the rolls. I think for a more authentic texture I would mix only the egg yolks with the mayo and mustard first, then fold in the egg white pieces.
