Really? No one has made the joke yet? Fine. "when it comes to 150 year old liara aethyta....YOU ARE THE FATHER!" (insert random techno music from omega here)
@cytorakdemon It happens when you have spoken to Liara at least once and have done some missions which includes side missions in the citadel. They are at the Cafe in the Presidium Commons.
@Ryan Tran Nope, it would be a "female" asari, no matter who the other partner is. the only way to get traits from the other partner is if that person raises her. for example, liaras father sometimes acts like a krogan (headbutting and stuff) because her father raised her.
Plus, asari-asari unions are the only way Ardat-Yakshi (read: space vampires) are made; see Samara and her daughters for evidence of that (though not ALL asari-asari pairings produce A-Y's, as Liara shows).
I saw the video clip in LotSB. This was the scene I was looking forward to the most in ME3. I kept going to the Citadel, and the Apollo Cafe. Yet for some reason, she never showed up. ;-; /3
@TheHaxie I don't think that's quite true, but it's a cool idea :) Wrex wasn't around during the Rachni wars, and Aethyta said that neither of her parents survived their 'engagement'
@jbfarley Nope, but in Mass Effect 2 we are given the idea that Wrex and Aria knew each other. She mighta been the commando he fought in the space station.
@TheHaxie Liaras father also tells that her dad and her mom both died in a battle with eachother. Also, I am fairly certain that Wrex did not fought in the rachni wars.
@Worhan Actually, one of my grandmothers smokes, and she sounds a lot like Aethyta (although my grandmother's much nicer and has a much higher position than bartender). If you smoke too much it really DOES mess up your voice.
@rejuised For the majority of women the Mothering instinct kicks in around Young Adulthood or near 30. But for some women (like myself) the mothering instinct kicks in sooner than it should. This is the case of some teenage pregnancies. Also the instinct kicks in Men and Women if something were to cause trauma.
@Jamsessionroom1337 As far as I've understood, they don't use genitals. It's more of a mind melding experience. Which is why they can mate with all other species, regardless of gender or race.
@JaredDrake My theory is that Liara's grandfather is Wrex. When you speak with Aria in ME2 and Wrex in ME1 they will tell a story how they met up (but no actual names are said) and had a standoff due to Wrex being a bounty hunter and got a contract on Aria. Liara's father mentions her father having scars from the Rachni Wars (Wrex) and her mother being an asasi commando (Aria). It all makes sense to me!
No, it's not necessary to play through the Shadow Broker DLC (I've gotten some of the Aethyta conversations on a completely fresh ME3 game, which defaults to "didn't play Shadow Broker DLC so Liara used mercenaries to kill yahg but Feron died in attack"). However, you'll lose any opportunity to speak to Aethyta after Priority: Tuchanka is complete. So you need to do this subquest before you either cure the genophage or leave the cure sabotaged.
@MofoCheesy What with the Galatic war against robotic god things that needed a literal Deus Ex Machine to kill them off (still pissed about that), and knowing that her daughter was fighting against them probably on the front lines, she may very well be depressed over it.
@Jamsessionroom1337 That's right, if Shepard and Liara mate, Liara's the one who will get pregnant. Asari reproduction doesn't work the same way as human reproduction; the asari don't take DNA from sperm, they take electrical signals from their partners and use them to randomize the baby's DNA. So all asari children come out as different-looking asari.
I played thru the game 3 damn times and i never had this scene, dafaq bioware. I also check the citadel after every damn mission and explore every freaking inch to see if theres something new and i never had this scene
@FluffyNinjaLlama There are more lines, if you keep going back, eventually she gives Liara a squad of Asari Commandos to Liara's shock, to which her 'father' replies, "Well, you're too old for a damn pony."
there were a few weird glitches like that for me. miranda never contacted me more than once so I could not warn her about kai leng, my love intrest never had any dialouge, this and a few more.
When you first get to the presidum, speak to Liara, then Barla Von. The matriarch seems to appear after that. (Or at least that's when she first appeared during my second playthrough after not being in my first one)
@Worhan That was Claudia Black. They did that on purpose to make her sound like anold lady who just didn't give a damn anymore. She voices Admiral Xen too.
@TheHaxie Liara's father also mentions that her mother was a hell of a lot older than Aria is. Aria isn't thousands of years old. . obviously, Wrex isn't thousands of years old either. If that wasn't enough, she mentions that both of her parents died when they fought each other. So no, Wrex is not Liara's grandfather and Aria sure as hell not her grandmother.
@KMxHearts this is what I say to myself. It's the journey not the prize. The game was more fun the ending was a disappointment...but I'm still playing and trying some new things...like the renegade options :D
@rejuised Yes I do know. This might sound really weird but I have expansive knowledge on biology and the study of Life. Say humans could live up to three thousand years and hardly suffered any fatal illnesses. Don't think so, I did it even though I romanced Miranda. I think it has more to do with how much you talked to her father in Mass Effect 2 and if you saw the video in the Shadow Broker DLC. You probably can't get this scene without a Mass Effect 2 save.
