This is the same DV6 1.6L, DV5 1.5L in peugeot, ford, mini, volvo. The latest versions are factory tuned to 125-130bhp and 230Nm. Very good engine. If you make the oil changes and services frequently, it literally lasts forever.

I had the same problem on a Peugeot 206 with brembo brakes from the 406 coupe ,the car had 550hp and i replaced pads discs and so on but the noise never went away
@@ΣτέλιοςΡισβάς-χ9ε tried it and it was the same, tried different brands of pads and its was the same... I think it was because to be a bolt on solution i had to use the 283mm discs, and on the coupe they use the 305mm. This conversion on all the cars i seen has this noise.
Definitely some more improvements to be be made, shouldn't be that much smoke, too much fuel, either less fuel (while still making same power) or more air/boost to meet it. And also, would be nice to sort out the brake noise/squeal, really so loud, must drive the owner mad 😂
I dont know this engines but in the 1.9TDI we make it smoke to cool down the engine and lower egts, that usualy doesn´t need to hapens in all diesels, m57s love clean maps but mayby this engines need to smoke for longevity. Would realy love to meet someone who modifiest this engines since i have a friend with a focus with the same engine and he wants to make it push 3xxHP but we have no clue how hard that will be compared to just a PD130 swapp.
Also noticed that he didn´t say what injectors and nozzles he is using. Assuming he is using stock injectors and nozzels (Pulling this all out of my ass, don´t know how much power u can make on stock 1.6hdi injectors or if you even need to change nozzles like in a TDI) they are probably close to max injection duration time wich makes them smoke like crazy. If he coul up injection, he could theoretically inject the same fuel with lower injection duration making a better mixture and less smoke.
Common rail engine -> smoke just raises the EGTs as it's basically fuel that it's not able to burn, due lack of air or the injection duration is so long. Not sure in this case which one it is. Engine seems to be running hot so I would guess the injectors are maxed and that's why there's so much smoke. More rail pressure or bigger injectors, as you need to inject enough mg/c in the correct time-window to make power on common rail.
On the ring you'll see a million porsche's, bmw's and other great cars, but this...this is something else. Great fun watching these "slow cars" show some teeth!
That's a very good lap in a good car with good braking and handling but that thing doesn't seem like have 185hp but around 150hp, instead. Thanks for the lap as always
thats what I realised also while driving some diesels. They have like a curse for losing power and torque past 3.5 k rpms. So they tend to struggle a lot at higher speeds like this one here. Compare this one to a petrol 180hp and it would probably smoke the diesel past 160. Petrol just keeps going and going til the red line. Thats what I mostly like about them.
@@kornelobajdin5889 depends on the car and the tune. Our golf mk3 diesel race car will outcorner and outaccelerate any gas powered car in the same class and many from the class above. And pulls like a MF till redline. But it is tuned right, basically no smoke and pushing 250 BHP
I daily drive a diesel Hyundai i30, and actually really like driving it, its been around Australia twice aand multi east coast trips. 14 years old today and its still great to drive .
yes my dad had a peugeot 406 might have been a hdi tho it was definitely indirect injection and i had a 306 hdi estate. glad to see you driving a diesel, hopefully more to come. i know the unburnt fuel shooting out the exhaust is a bit of an awkward problem. personally i think it’s a shame that there aren’t much in the way of diesel cars in mainstream motorsport it’s usually just one european golf mk4 rally car or a small number of pikes peak hillclimb cars
PSA 1.6 and 2.0 HDi smoke easily after remap because the head struggle with high rpm because this is made for fuel economy and torque like the VW 2.0 TDI a diesel who like "high rpm" because of better flowing head at higher rpm would be Renault 2.0 dCi or BMW 47 engine but you have less torque at low rpm
As a car guy i know it's wrong to like a diesel but i love them. I would love to see Mischa drive a modified 335d or m340d those cars are unbelievably fast.
Diesels are great, I'd even go as far as saying some of them sound good, people that disagree can't appreciate a good agricultural sound lol No but seriously, recently I got hate from "car people" after I said an M57 loves to rev, but people don't understand that I'm not talking about revving high, but instead to use all the rev range, compared to most diesels that don't like going past 3k.

BMW put there most reliable engine ever into them (the M57) and their least reliable but best sounding and most soulful engine (S85) in the same car😂 I'm currently only 20 and on my first car but at this point being a BMW nut I'm looking for a F56 mini cooper S to start out with (much cheaper than the BMW 1 series equivalent) and then one day a G30 LCI 530d with stage 2.

Next car will be f22 coupe, do not know the engine, but that's for next year.

As it has been said before that car really needs better oil cooling. You were lucky of the yellow flag during the uphill segment. It wouldn't be healthy if Misha went for it there.

@@s70driver2005still, you can tune diesels without mass amounts of smoke. Darkside are one of the best examples of this, you’ll rarely see black clouds from even their race spec cars, unless the customer asks for it.

Upgraded radiator, oil cooler, lower temp thermostat and some liqui moly ceratec in the oil and them, temp will drop, yes ceratec drops oil temps on track and with diesels :)
Actually is Oil Temp, not water temp... I think the oil was well above the recommended temp, even when use the Millers Oils (racing performance), what allowed run on 125°c of oil on a regular bases and with a peak of 150°c... the owner probably should thinking about to use the oil cooler or a big/better/eficiente oil cooler... or adjust the tune to don't over boiling the oil

I have a Mazda 6, 2,2 diesel l. Chip tuned. With an almost perfect 6 speed manual. It's a pure joy to drive. Makes a lot of BMW and Audi drivers scratch their heads. I've owned a Fiat Coupe 20VT.. loved it. But my Mazda isn't that most slower.. and zips fuel compared to it.

Shame that the 1.9 tdi 130/150 in vw's range are in such a crap platform for handling but probs one of the best 4cyl diesels to tune. Do like regular oil changes and occasional maf sensor haha.
Too much smoking diesel gets more fuel than needed and will raise EGT and cook the engine on track use. I assume with better mapping this car would run as good, but much cooler. ✌

I think if you trim just a bit the edges of the brake pads the noise will stop

Shame that the 1.9 tdi 130/150 in vw's range are in such a crap platform for handling but probs one of the best 4cyl diesels to tune. Do like regular oil changes and occasional maf sensor haha.

Too much smoking diesel gets more fuel than needed and will raise EGT and cook the engine on track use. I assume with better mapping this car would run as good, but much cooler. ✌
