I've done more than a decade of (mostly education) research in Linden Lab's Second Life, a very metaversy platform if there ever was, and watched it boom circa 2010, only to slowly decline with the ascendance of mobile-friendly, decidedly-not immersive but very convenient Facebook and SNS culture. It's niche, and unless someone can clearly articulate what a new, not-yet-developed platform will do to become universally accepted as a standard online virtual world, I'm going to assume that also will remain niche. As for the interest in NFTs, it's a very underpants gnome situation; investors want to make money on digital items for a standardized digital entertainment ecosystem that does not currently exist. This is like selling real estate on Mars. Arguments about the potential effects of a Ready Player One society are a bit premature considering how pie in the sky everything currently is. And if you think that the tech companies know something we don't since they're spending so much money on metaverse R&D, take a gander at how much cash Meta/Facebook has lost first quarter 2022 ($2.96 billion) or at Google's ill-conceived Stadia gaming platform.

Thank you so much for this amazing video! Just a quick off-topic question: I have a SafePal wallet with USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). Could you explain how to move them to Binance?
When this becomes big, the mind will have trouble differentiating reality from the metaverse. Resulting with a lot more people getting mental health issues. Hate the example that he makes with concerts, as if reality is so much more dangerous/deadly compared to virtual 'reality'. I can imagine metaverse lifting off, but believe me, nothing is so satisfying as the real deal! You can't cheat real life.
This is amazing but I think one of the scariest dark sides is when Big Tech Companies like Google and FaceBook collect our data in the metaverse, they would literally know everything (tho it's not much different than how it is now). Hoping the Metaverse will be on Decentralized Platforms instead.
@Roger Vieira it's astounding me at the moment that people don't seem to understand the implications of the government or big tech knowing everything about you.
Metaverse and Law Enforcement. It’s a next level to delivery training on VR with infinite environments and situations. Metaverse opening a range of opportunities to share experience in real time, anywhere and immersive. Low or even zero costs for teams to join together. A lot of space to explore in this field. Thank your Brian for the presentation 👍
The inverse is also the case. I'm old enough to be a grandfather, I don't have kids, my idea of gaming is solitaire on my phone, I'm kind of introverted, and I work at home, so the pandemic didn't really effect me much. This is probably why I can't wrap my mind around the appeal of this thing.
One aspect that wasn't discussed: data and data ownership In Web2, big tech companies such as Meta/Facebook and Google have monetized consumer behavior (data) to the tune of billions. Legislation around consumer data protection (e.g. GDPR, CCPA) is much overdue. In Web3 and metaverse, consumers will have more ownership and agency over how their data is used, montized, etc. This can become a form of basic universal income. As Brian points out, what is pocket change for some is legitimate income for others.
I'll be honest. I do not see the metaverse (or VR for that matter) becoming mainstream at all. Do people want to wear bulky headsets to experience crudely created 3D spaces? This is why I think AR will have an advantage over VR regarding mainstream adoption.
I was slow to buy into the metaverse concept, but there's a lot of practical uses where interaction and transaction can be peer to peer via cryptocurrency.
Thanks for the forecast! Could you help me with something unrelated: My OKX wallet holds some USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (air carpet target dish off jeans toilet sweet piano spoil fruit essay). How can I transfer them to Binance?

I see this as IOS and Android, you can have the same application on android and IOS. Meta is not trying to own VR. Just like nobody owns the internet but i believe they will be a major player just like google. Meta is making it easier for people to own VR and try it out. Hate the example that he makes with concerts, as if reality is so much more dangerous/deadly compared to virtual 'reality'.
I can imagine metaverse lifting off, but believe me, nothing is so satisfying as the real deal! You can't cheat real life.
This is just a commercial for the metaverse. I bet this guy has money invested in it already.
This is amazing but I think one of the scariest dark sides is when Big Tech Companies like Google and FaceBook collect our data in the metaverse, they would literally know everything (tho it's not much different than how it is now). Hoping the Metaverse will be on Decentralized Platforms instead.
They already know everything....and...?
@Roger Vieira it's astounding me at the moment that people don't seem to understand the implications of the government or big tech knowing everything about you.
Like Holochain!
@@nikkiebakker330 oh this is actually my first time hearing Holochain, can you tell what it does cuz Google gives me mixed answers...
Now they can crunch skulls without liability and get pumped up to feel no remorse when doing the real thing!
Training the mercy out of your mercenaries you mean.
Well said!!!
Well presented!
what's wrong with the tech we have currently?
The inverse is also the case. I'm old enough to be a grandfather, I don't have kids, my idea of gaming is solitaire on my phone, I'm kind of introverted, and I work at home, so the pandemic didn't really effect me much. This is probably why I can't wrap my mind around the appeal of this thing.
I'm relatively young and I think this is horrible.
One aspect that wasn't discussed: data and data ownership
In Web2, big tech companies such as Meta/Facebook and Google have monetized consumer behavior (data) to the tune of billions.
So cool. I’ll never have to get off the couch again.
I'll be honest. I do not see the metaverse (or VR for that matter) becoming mainstream at all. Do people want to wear bulky headsets to experience crudely created 3D spaces? This is why I think AR will have an advantage over VR regarding mainstream adoption.
i think travis scott should do virtual concerts from now on
This guy? Run fast, run far.
I was slow to buy into the metaverse concept, but there's a lot of practical uses where interaction and transaction can be peer to peer via cryptocurrency.
Whoa! That's out of this world... I never would have thought something like this could happen... I just spent 16 minutes listening to a cereal box 😂
Thanks for the forecast! Could you help me with something unrelated: My OKX wallet holds some USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (air carpet target dish off jeans toilet sweet piano spoil fruit essay). How can I transfer them to Binance?
It's really awesome
METAHERO WILL MAKE THE METAVERSE MERGE WITH REALITY
Uh huh, so we agree! I just took a few puffs of some distillate oil and I’m totally imagining this now. Yeah thank you for putting this into perspective for me!
But bro, I’ve got to ask cuz idk 🤷♂️. What I’m really interested in is what companies are at the forefront of this real, virtual reality? Yeah I need to get in on this before it’s actually happening and not too many people understand it, please?
you'll own nothing and
you'll be happy
Methaverse
mark my words, the metaverse will become the next powerful generation
God disagrees. It will crumble like the last tower of Babel.
@@maranatha8148 I'm gonna have to agree with you on this one. The second the metaverse opens, i'm gonna spam loud music and be as obnoxious and disruptive as possible. Many will follow suit.
This stuff is made to isolate and profit from human experience and i won't abide by that, nor will God.
@@AA-dn8dj You would get muted so easily tho... and you do it multiple times, you'll get banned. Then you'll end up in Facebooks Meta where nobody hangs out.
@@bradebronson8835 theres a billion ways around bans you know
Good TED Talk. He truly understands the life changing potential the Metaverse has.
I see this as IOS and Android, you can have the same application on android and IOS. A developer can develop on any platform same way you can develop on Meta platform and also other platform that may exist. In the console video game space we have same games on PlayStation and Xbox.
Meta is not trying to own VR. Just like nobody owns the internet but i believe they will be a major player just like google. Meta is making it easier for people to own VR and try it out. You are making great content and I believe Metaverse will get it right they may make some mistakes along the way, but they will get it right in the end.
Hey did you win the ping pong tournament?
BRIAN YUNG🔥💪🏻🔥
There is an absolute convenience in utilizing the Metaverse. This will be the next step in mass adoption. It will be part of our normal everyday lives in some years.
Everything has side effect. Be aware!
Great Talk Jung 🦾
Wow this is so interesting
Thank you This presentation was very informative. Enjoyed it very much.
LETS GOOO BRIAN GOT ON TED TALK
