From Bangkok to Laos by train

  • Bangkok has the easiest access to Laos, one can take either flight, bus or train.
And the cheapest option is by train.
Unfortunately there is no direct train from Bangkok to Laos, you will need to get to your destination called Nong Khai and from there by the international bus to Vientiane Capital Laos.
Okay there are two trains leaving from Hua Lumphong Station to Nong Khai everyday, morning train leaves at 8:20am, this one is a special express and has only third class with the fans.
The fare is 253 Baht or around $6 and the journey takes 10.5-11 hours. Do expect some delay.
The second train leaves in the evening at 8pm, this one has sleeping cabin and the price is 850 Baht or $22 or just take the third class for $6.
The journey from Bangkok to Nong Khai takes between 10-11 hours.
Once arrived at Nong Khai train station you can take taxi to the border. At Laos side you can get your Visa on arrival at this checkpoint and if you get there anytime before 6-7pm you may have a chance to catch the international bus that leave from Nong Khai to Vientiane Capital, Laos.
The last bus departs from Nong Khai bus station at 6pm and get to the border around 6:30-7:20pm.
The fare from the border to Vientiane city center is 30,000 Kip/$2.50. journey takes from -30-45 minutes. And the bus terminates at Morning market bus terminal where you can walk from there to the old town area where all the Guesthouses and hotels are local, takes 15-20 minutes. Or just take taxi.
Also maybe download App called"Loca" where you can order transportation from ther, it's much cheaper compared to random taxi on the street.
    I hope rhis help.

    Thanks so much!
Hi folks, NatNomad here. An ex-Buddhist monk from Laos with a big dream of seeing the world. Throughout my time for over 10 years being a monk I kept asking myself one question "What life is like out there beyond the monastery?" and because of this question alone made me take a big step in 2014 when I finally said goodbye to my wonderful monastic life.
And now I'm doing what I've always wanted to do. Though I am not quite sure if I can say that I'm living my dream but you know what I'm loving my new adventure.
Please make sure to stick with me so we can explore new exotic places together.
    Let the adventure begins!
Thanks so much for your support.

Thank you ahead of time and great video keep it up!

    • @natnomad
      @natnomad  ปีที่แล้ว +1

Hi, that's a very good topic to bring up. You can only use Thai Simcard when in Thailand, however if you come to Laos like Vientiane capital you can still use it because it is just the border town of Thailand but the signal isn't very strong so better to get Lao Simcard when you're in Laos
For Thai Simcard you can get it at the airport or at phone stores. For me I've always gotten it from Seven 11 stores. I forgot how much they cost. Just have to provide your passport and they'll set it for you. Both the AIS and TrueMove are good options.
