You are right Tim, and we need a diversity of voices and experiences informing tech, data and AI, this is the only way to ensure marginalised communities are included in their design. Thank you for watching the talk, Deepa

I am not a big fan of AI, seems to be owned by the rich and creating a bigger wealth gap. But she is nice and at least provides a human touch in this industry.
I see others confirming what I thought, finally we meet a humane human working in AI... Maybe this holds the Terminator off until she is defeated by the greedy CEO's
I am also a person who doesn't trust AI or the people running it. I think you may be a good person Deepa, but just look at Zuckerberg, and I think that explains my fear.
I absolutely understand your fear Justin and it is fully justified. But it is important that we all take responsibility to understand what is happening around us and how AI and machine learning are being used in so many different aspects of our lives. Please let me know if you would like any links.
But, while people like this in AI and technology are good, hasn't it just become another way the rich are getting richer by getting rid of real people in the work force?
Interesting point Theo, and unfortunately that may happen, in which case we need to plan for this in terms of ensuring people have access to an equitable standard of living. This is being called the 4th Industrial Revolution and will impact all aspects of our lives. We need to empower ourselves by understanding what is happening around us and to be part of that change.
