I get the responds from the Crucial and thaty said.“The EZ Gig software that comes with the Data Transfer kit allows you to copy an entire drive, including multiple partitions, so this would copy across your C, D and E partitions.”
You're the man! Have watched many of your diy uploads and have found them really informative. Am draining my central heating system tomorrow and refreshed my knowledge using your video. Thanks.
Very useful tutorial, I got one question about the cloning software. I separated the hard drive with C:/, D:/ and E:/ for different purpose and does the software clone the partitions to the ssd?
Hey mate thanks for the fast reply. It fixs in the caddy (just got the ssd 10minutes ago). I was scared, the screws match the caddys location, so its all good :)
@HalfAzNPersuasioN go into the bios, select AHCI (very important), make the SSD the boot drive. Do a fresh install of everything you can. Once your satisfied you have everything you want off the HDD, you can go to "my computer" right click the HDD and click format. Don't do a quick format. This can take up to twelve hours to do
I wish I would have known about the EZ Gig IV software. I tried to clone my Alienware 13 laptop hard drive with three or four different free cloning programs with no success. I heard that you can't clone to a Crucial SSD in an Alienware 13 so I bought a Samsung and it still didn't clone. I ended up using the Respawn Install flash drive for Alienware 13 and had to do it in Legacy bios mode.
hey bro good video i just have a question when i try and clone to my ssd using this software and i hit next after selecting the destination drive it just sits there and dont go to the next screen what am I doing wrong?? thanks
Mmm SSD should be day & night vs HDD, doesn't matter what CPU or other parts you have, opening programs & starting windows should be a fraction of the time, provided the SSD is a decent one and not full as performance decreases with size filled
hello there! i was wondering if it's largely the same procedure for M17x? The difference is it has dual hard drives (mine is configured in Raid 0). asking around if you or others know about this
Sorry I have a m17x, not a m14x, which has two hard drive slots so could I do this? I looked up some other videos about this stuff and you have to put it into raid or something? I'm new to this sort of stuff so I really don't understand that part
Hi ive got a m14x r2 with a ssd 256 on it already so i was wondering if i add another ssd to it will i have to intall a new win 7 even though its already on the ssd thats already in it? thanx
I have an alienware m14x r4 with only one hard drive as of now. Could i clone that hard drive onto the ssd and use my ssd for my boot drive and use my hard drive for only storage? Sorry if im not hetting this correctly
Hey man, I can get the Samsung 830 SSD for a reasonably low price, but it is 7mm, will this still fit in the caddy, or do I need something else? Because standard mm is 9.5mm if im correct?
Cloning a HDD to an SSD is a really bad move as the HDD works in a totaly different way TRIM and other SSD features wont be used as the windows still thinks its running off a HDD, reinstall windows if you get a SSD.
Can anyone help me? I'm trying to find a new ssd for my alienware m14x, I currently have a 224GB SSD, I want to put in a new one, but I don't know what kind... And I really don't want to make my pc slow by installing the wrong one, can anyone help me? I'm looking for a 750GB ssd I could install to my alienware.
Yes, you can install it as a storage driver or you can clone it and boot from the SSD as it is faster. To keep current windows you should be able to select the boot device in the BIOS.
Thx, your video is a SSD, right, so an mSSD should be possible to add. I'll guess I'll give it a try then, I saw allot of bad comments also about installing the SSD. So I'm not sure.

The EZ Gig software came with the SSD and lead, it worked well.
I'm glad you got yours sorted in the end ;-)

Great video,thanks mate.
Ok thanks for the help
Hello! I am looking for that piece you take off at around the 6:30 mark that connects to the SSD. Do you know what this piece is called?
+Kandy Tran
It is sometimes called a SSD caddy and sometimes called a SSD mounting bracket.
I hope this helps ;-)

Is it possible to clone without exiting windows? I thought it was mandatory to reboot in dos
gets an ssd slower when you connect it trohge usb or is it same speed as an internal ssd? thanks
How much was ur alien warebro?

My screws actually fell out so I would be careful about that one.

What a douchie thing to say.
thanks for your video ! Is it possible to add the mSSD to the computer and dualboot, so I keep my current windows?
