Awesome video, i read once that Thomas inch actually made a series of dumbells like that so he could train with them, he told people he just got stronger attempting the 176lbs one, but really had more so he could train and step up in weight, there were also rumors that he had a pin that could be taken out so it would rotate to make it easier on the original.
Also Thomas inch said Arthur Saxon could not lift it but was bs as he lifted it with ease but i think because Inch was english and Saxon was german there was always a bit of messing about.
Brian get Herman Goerner's book Goerner the mighty, would love to see you replicate some of his crazy lifts, one handed deadlift 727lbs, one handed 660lbs deadlift on a thick bar in front of john paul getty for a bet.
Guy had the strongest hands of any strongman.
Also when your doing that Strongest in history do a episode on Herman Goerner.

he couldn't lift the millenium, but that's a 235lber, Brian lifted it a few times, eddie could lift this one..if hydrated, seriously though, eddie's lifted it before, lifted it from the side no problem, rather than having to do the squat position, I think this one is 172lbs or so

the "underhand grip" is a cupping motion, you will be able to lift heavier this way without the thumb, i doubt anyone being able to reach around a Thomas Inch dumbell.

Would be awesome to give this a go and see what happens! It's one thing to watch and speculate about it but a whole nother thing to actually get to experience it!
My only thought of comparison is having done pullups on fat grips, your grip will go before you can get your usual number of pullups in. And though I can hold a lot in my grip with just chalk and no straps on a regular barbell, when that handle gets thick it's a different thing altogether so no way of knowing what one would be capable of doing with a bigger handle like that.
