    • @dessertstorm7476
      @dessertstorm7476 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      350lbs isn't that much. It's hard because of the circumference of the handle, it wants to roll out of the hands and without extremely large powerful hands you can't stop it from rolling. For an average guy using 2 hands if you have at least a 400lb (maybe less because you're just breaking ground not even deadlifting it) deadlift this is probably pretty easy to get off the floor, opposite facing hands counter-act the rolling, which makes hand strength less of a factor, and it's just using your posterior chain to get it off the ground.

      I wonder what he can do to help him get to that point. I wonder if better technique will be even more important. Will be interesting seeing how much it actually weighs. 350 is such a just leap from the Millenium at 230lbs or so. I can imagine seeing Brian possibly lifting the Millenium at..50lbs more, and that's still just 280lbs. Hopefully it weighs less than 350lbs..or I guess there's the chance Brian lifts it and we find out it's actually 380lbs. haha

    • @wheelmanstan
      @wheelmanstan ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TobyGuyana How do you increase strength to lift that when you're already as big as you can get and can already lift 600lbs up stairs? Is it just grip training? I mean if I'm scrawny and don't work out, I can probably double my strength in that time, but Brian is already at close to peak form.
      I don't follow grip training etc so I'm just not aware of how much you can increase it. I'm guessing his ability to lift it isn't the question, it's more a question of holding on tight enough to keep it from spinning.

    • @TobyGuyana
      @TobyGuyana ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @wheelmanstan yes, grip strength is different than the strength you're thinking of. Grip strength is shown to get better with age and takes a longer time to decline, for example if you know who Mark Felix is, he is in his 50s and still is breaking records because of his grip strength

    To be fair, the Millennium dumbbell has been lifted more than twice. Brian might be referring to competition settings, but since these dumbbells are so rare, they are barely ever used in competitions. @@Mirriam02 I thought that would be cool too, but whatever Brian does with it I am just glad it was saved instead of cut into scrap because most of the scrap in America, is turned into rebar!
      *Individuality in culture is really being trampled and destroyed in America, and strongman is both about individuality, comradery and respect, so maybe one day Brian will build The Strongman Museum.* There's so much history there and so many names that have accumulated for centuries that it wouldn't be only of interest to athletes. *It's in fact a very significant part of our history as humans, and there's forms of it in virtually every culture on the planet.*
      Keeping that logo on it would certainly make sense if someone ever builds such a museum. Paul Anderson isn't the only legendary strongman that was deathly ill as a child, and lived onward to make the sport what it is today. If I am remembering correctly, Brian ended up with his plates. *Just a couple years ago, I got to hold the door open for Bill Kasmaier at the hardware store! lol* He tried to get to it first to hold it for me, but I recognized him and beat him to it lol.

    I was expecting Brian to grab it with one hand, hoist it overhead and knock off 5 overhead dumbbell presses. But seriously, I think much of the challenge is grip strength, and in this case, it requires remarkable grip strength, in addition to incredible strength to lift it. With the dumbbell and the new plates in the back of the truck, I hope the rear springs on that truck were upgraded.

      i dunno...maybe 400 pounds...a 500lb dumbbell with the fat grip...i really don't think that's possible for anyone to lift one handed. 150 pounds is a huuuuge jump up, and brian cant even lift the 350 off the floor, but I'd love to see it!
      Maybe they call it the "impossible dumbbell" 500 pounds, thick grip...no one on the planet will be able to lift it!

    • @TheSleepieKing
      @TheSleepieKing ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@mm6705 Brian is still young, ish. We have guys like Nick Best and Devon Larratt getting stronger as they age. If Brian stays as grip focused as he is now, I see the 500lb dumbbell happening. There was a time when we all thought a 1,000lb deadlift was impossible "it'll rip the arms off your body" But just recently 6 men pulled 1,000lbs in a single competition.

    • @ShoaibMalik-un1gu
      @ShoaibMalik-un1gu ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheSleepieKing Idk, highly doubt it imo. It's doing a one-arm deadlift without straps and is as thick as a Thomas-inch bell which is 172lbs and less than 300 humans on earth have lifted it. The Millennium Dumbell (238 lbs)? only 10 I've heard(including shaw). 500 lbs is just too much.

    • @mm6705
      @mm6705 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheSleepieKing Yeah, true, but I think the 500 dumbbell with the thick grip, is like a 1000 pound axle lift...the world record is under 800 pounds, and I think the axle is narrower than the grip on these mega dumbbells. I agree with your point that human limits are always raising, so maybe the 500 dumbbell will be made and lifted :)
      But then again, the difference is exponential, so idk haha. I mean, I'd love to see it happening someday.
