"I never, in a million years thought that I would be this in love with One Piece". Exactly. Many people call the "hat scene" as the "point of no return". It is the moment that you trully become a fan. The moment where people that were feeling lazy to watch 1000+ episodes notice that 1000+ episodes won't be enough. Enjoy the ride... it is just beginning. It will get better... a lot better.
"The point of no return" is the most accurate description for this episode. AKA: "Alright, that is it! I guess we are really watching this" moment. And that is quite true... Enjoy the Journey.
the point of no return................. keep watching and you'll come to realize that this is the greatest story telling in the history of story telling.
16:05 Remember, Luffy didn’t hear any of the backstory involving Nami, he just heard her say she needed his help and that was enough for him to get involved. Truly, a remarkable captain. Enjoy the show! 🙏🏽
I'd like to say how proud I am of the One Piece Live Action. While it isn't perfect, it really did it's job to give people who normally wouldn't bother, their first taste of One Piece. That taste was good enough to get into this story, that will no doubt be a classic for the ages.
Straight up. Like it may sound harsh or hyperbolic but I too do firmly believe that a majority of One Piece haters are people who haven’t given it a genuine chance. I recall 15+ years ago in my high school & college days, I was an outspoken advocate & fan of the series and I frequently clowned on by my peers in the Anime Clubs I attended by people who’s only justification started & stopped at the fact that they saw the manga/anime as having a too cartoony art style in comparison to contemporaries like Bleach, Naruto, FMA etc. and thus assumed it was some immature kiddy comedy with zero depth. Very few read/watched beyond the first several episodes & chapters before writing it off while in the case of the rest they just judged it visually alone & weren’t interested in giving it an honest try. Now years on, OP has deservedly become a phenomenon of fiction beyond just in the realm of anime/manga not just for its unique art style in comparison to most other anime but also because unlike the contemporaries it has surpassed the series has a masterful grasp on worldbuilding, character writing & emotion-filled storytelling.
Belle'mere is voiced by the legendary voice actress, Noriko Hidaka, who voiced characters like-- Kikyou (Inuyasha), Akane Tendo (Ranma 1/2), Satsuki Kusakabe (My Neighbor Totoro).
A fellow reactor who is reading the manga only recently talked about this arc and commented that this story with Nami is when oda and one piece really show the reader the emotional depth that it can reach and that its not just a goofy pirate anime and i think you showed that emotion in your reaction.
That scene with the hat and the walkt to Arlong Park are storytelling perfection: Nami the woman that promice to never cry again and that want to put the weigth of the world in her shoulder was for the first time braking down because all her hard work and sacrifice was for nothing, and yes she hate Arlong and star stabing his symbol, but as a tattoo in her arm she is also attacking herself, she hates being so powerless and trusting Arlong to fullil his promise. Then comes luffy, the man that in all this arc has actively refuse to hear nami backstory, because the simple true is that he doesnt need it, he has seen her, her true self, again Boogy and Kuro, and that enougth for him, he is so good reading people that he knows that if she is driving them away and even "working" with other crew, there has to be deeper reason, something she just isnt prepare to share, so he waits. and when he finally see her cry, he just wait again, until all those walls are down and the real nami come out and say what she really want: "luffy, please help me". And he response "of course" because is not about the tragic backstory or even about all the people suffering under Arlong, is about a friend that finally admit that need some help and because is a friend he will do anything to make things better. And the perfect final puntuation to that theme is the first worst Luffy say again this enemy is "Who is Arlong", because he doesnt know how he is, how does he look or even all the other bad things he has done, Luffy just know that thats the name of the ashole that make his navigator cry and because of that he will get his ass kick
@@xRakanishu I'm sure that the "symbol" and its meaning is something thought out in advance, i mean, this kind of thing is thought about during character creation.
@@xelaman I agree, (spoiler alert just in case) but I think Oda's idea was to make Jimbei the captain of the sun pirates before he got to the sichibukai or something like that at the beginning
I really love the explanations of why the village pretended not to know what Nami was doing and even pretended that they disliked her so she didn't feel the weight of their expectations and how Bellemere used the money for Nojiko and Nami not only because she wanted to reaffirm she is their mother but also because Arlong's crew didnt allow anyone to leave the village, they sank the ships, she knew what they were capable of. Sometimes, when processing all of the information and trauma, some people miss this and get a little confused by Bellemere's choice. Even if Nojiko and Nami left the village, they'd have to live alone in a dangerous world. In Cocoyashi, at least they had the people in the village. Btw, is it possible for you to lower the anime volume just a tiny bit or increase yours? Oh yeah, and the story only gets better. Sometimes, there're long streches where it's not at the peak of emotion or action, but a story can't be only peaks. Sometimes, the pacing will get a little bad, and sometimes, it's set up for things to come I hope you keep enjoying the story 😊
Maan watching it back i get goosebombs too. The Nami backstory was so sad that even i wanted to cry but then luffy came and gave his hat to her that was awesome 🔥
3:34 i WANTED THIS SO BAD in the OPLA it wqs So Watered down but many were still so Moved by it. thos is SO MUCH BETTER tho. SHE gladly pays for her Daughters
Oh, you noticed the sun on his chest? Impressive. I haven't... must have seen this episode like dozens of times. It means the story will get good hundreds of eps later.😉 It's all that can be revealed spoiler free.😝 PS: I only watch Peak Reactions. So I don't watch the live show or other episodes except a few of these early ones like these 2. One Piece starts with ep 227 and there starts my reactions watching too.🤷♂️
I will never not enjoy seeing reactions to Episode 37. As others have pointed out, it is indeed, "the point of no return." After that, well, you can't help but to enjoy and continue the journey with this crew.
Yea this was a change in the live action that I didn't understand at all. Nojiko knew Nami's plan here so why'd they have to go and make her hate Nami in the live action? 😭 But aside from that, the live action did perfectly capture the "help me" scene, and even had the crew posed exactly the same way down the street.
"whats the sun on his chest mean?" It has a deep meaning, or it means nothing. guessed you will never know. Might as well watch the next 1000 episodes just to get the answer to your question.
So much is different and lost in the live action when you finally see the anime. The relationship between nami and her sister, the father figure that Genzo is to nami growing up, the fact Luffy chosen not to listen to Nami's history because he doesn't care a bout her past because he already accepted her as his friend. The actual iconic "Walk to Arlong Park" scene is removed and rushed at the same time in the live action. For example, Arlong decides he is going to attack the village because Nami can't pay, even though there was never a time limit to this agreement. Nami then runs to her village in the dark of night only to have her moment, Luffy giving her the hat, then all of them see the village burning down at night. Next episode it's day time and the walk is removed.... Even with everything that was cut from the live action it is still enough to get new people interested in the show and increases the chance they give the anime/manga a shot to see what a truly great series and storyteller Oda is.
Your reaction is exactly why fans tended to be disappointed with OPLAs approach to this arc. It is such a strong and cohesive story, and the way they delegate the villagers to extras and have some sort of hatred going on between Nami & Nojiko makes very little sense. Nami could never have done all the things she'd done if she hadn't had Nojiko supporting her. There are two bits of interest you may want to know. First is that Bellemere's death was actually censored in the anime, too. The manga has the silhouette 'execution' frame with the gun at her head. Second is that The Walk to Arlong Park is an anime invention which was not present in the manga. The anime has a lot of flaws, but this is one of many moments where it excelled. These two episodes are among the biggest emotional rollercoasters in media in general, uplifting viewers from utter despair and sadness to immense hopeful giddiness. One Piece has a lot of these strong emotional moments in it, and I hope you'll enjoy the rest of your journey despite the tears you will no doubt shed!
We are the crazy and rabid fans constantly on the lookout for new watchers. I apologize in advance for all the annoying monologues and “um actually” corrections we will no doubt subject you to. Really sorry.
I would warn if you are going to continue this to put up filters (you could blur off and on everything but the subtitles we will know the scenes) just cause Toei is extremely strict with copyright laws and we all know TH-cam is difficult to deal with when you get a strike. I’ve seen people get strikes for One Piece but are fine when they post content of other shows with the same methods.
Please switch to the English dub, it's great and your channel will stand out from the rest. At least the dub audience will get to see one reaction channel that watches the dub.
