I'm a horn main who's wanted to see new Horn songs for a long time. We have skills like Earplug, Defense Up, etc. but I'm of the opinion there should be a horn for every skill. Is this O.P. or does this just fit into the meta like Guard Up for HBG with a shield attached?
When you talk about Teostra's Orphee and mention stun...... it's why I believe stun resistance is the #1 most important thing when building a defensive build. Just a side note.

Horn main here. Thanks for showing the horn some love. I never thought I would like this weapon type but once I tried it out in the training room I couldn’t put it down. I have all the horns you listed except the deviljho one and I’m working on it. I did run into anoth horn user while responding to an SoS fighting Vaal. Our team killed it in the first area in under 5 minutes. Wish that happened more often.
Had my Teo Horn and someone had the Pickle Horn on Tempered Vaal, that was gross. No one bothered to dodge, Vaal kept staggering, and it got killed in 4 minutes.
I wish hunting horn players were more common I’ve had hunts only be completed/clutched by a hunting horn users because the buffs were just so good and they did there own fair share of good damage
I really hope this video gets more people playing the HH. I love dropping in on an s.o.s and playing some tunes, makes those 15 min tempered elder dragon fights seem not so tough. Great video, keep it up.

Been a HH user since HH was introduced in second generation of Monster Hunter games. I approve of his list 👍🏾 Honestly, all the hunting horns have a specific use depending on what you are fighting, but as a top five list, I would definitely agree. Good vid!

My fav and current build is: B52 Horn w/Tenderizer 2 and Flawless 2 augmented with health recovery and affinity. Eyepatch w/ Brace Jewel 3. Vaal Hazak Mail B w/ Attack and Sheath. Vaal Hazak Braces B w/ Vitality Jewels x3 Vaal Hazak Coil B w/ Sonorous and Medicine Jewel. Death Stench Heel B w/ Medicine Jewels x2. Handicraft charm L3. Skills are: Handicraft 5 Health Boost 3 Recovery up 3 Weakness exploit 3 Peak performance 3 Recovery speed 2 Attack Boost 1 Horn Maestro 1 Quick Sheath 1 Flinch Free 1 With my build and playstyle it allows me to withstand a boatload of punishment, to recover that punishment at a frankly comical rate and to keep on healing past the original damage taken and to be able to dish out a decent damage to a monsters face with absolutely minimal downtime rarely stopping for sharpening as the horn rarely runs out of White and almost never sheathing for a potion. What gives me the most satisfaction however is that whilst I’m doing all of the above I’m supporting my team buffing their attack, their recovery and also acting as a regular field medic. I am trying to figure out builds for the Teostra and Jho Horns, an advice? I recommend anyone who has a passing interest in the hunting horn to give it a go, you may just love it. 🎼🎼🎼

I picked up MHW couple of days ago and all I can say Hunting Horns are my favorite weapon type. I am still trying out all different weapon but conceptwise I fell in love with it and I have just beaten the game with it.
I’m usually a charge blade and great sword user but I finally decided to give the hunting horn a go and I’m absolutely in love with it. I think it’s important to give all weapons a go in these types of games.
One thing me and a friend kinda figured out was that we were easily able to help out the rest of the team by quite a lot by using the nergi horn and the devil horn. Was pretty fun too
My build for the horn that isn’t complete right now is Weakness exploit 3 Handicraft 5 Attack boost 4 Evade extender 2 Not including gems this is what I got
I find it strangely hilarious that right now the HH is insanely good yet it’s at the bottom of the barrel along with the bowguns. I mean, I’m kinda grateful because it’s a little awkward to have two horns on the team, especially if it’s the same two horns cuz then it’s redundant.
Adloquium Dubious I don’t see how. Every attack combos into the next and it’s constantly mobile, you’re basically able to dodge at any point, and you have one of the fastest walking speed with weapon drawn (with self-improvement, which a HH should always have up anyways).
Adloquium Dubious if that were the case people wouldn’t use the hammer, GS, GL, HBG or Lance. I think people just get turned off by the idea that they are in a support role. I don’t get why either. Being a bard is awesome. Choral Orchestra is probably the most used Palico gadget too.
Nice video but I disagree with it being a support weapon, its primary function is smashing monsters and hunting horn pros usually describe the buffs as icing on the cake. For example support wouldn't be good solo but the hunting horn can excell solo. I just started using it and I like it a lot. I'm an insect glaive main and I like the buffing with the kinsect and I've been trying greatsword too. I picked up the coral orchestra as well, as you can see I love buffs, in dark souls I usually would run a buff build, I compare the hunting horn to being a sunbro! Smash through enemies and buff your allies:)
Thanks for the video! Very helpful. I’m a newer player (about 70 hours into MHW) and I love the hh. I have found it’s hard to use against Deviljho but I’m getting used to it. Using hard bone horn now, farming for the Deviljho one.
I have r spent 200 hours with insect glaive. I am ready to branch out into trying the hunting horn. Since there are fewer hunting horns out there in game I decided to join the ranks. Thank you for your videos on the hunting horn. I am getting some study time in before I get started.
I dont understand how something so good can be so underused, i dedicated time to learn how to use the horn even though i was using a high defense full earplugs greatsword/hammer build and the horn is just way better unless you are looking for straight up DPS
I’d personally say that the Desolation’s Overture And Teostra’s Orphée are my two top horns. While The Jho Horn is godly for damage, I just don’t think it’s very good. It is definitely the best horn with its song list and the best horn for damage, but raw damage just isn’t the most important thing for horn. There’s also the importance of team damage, survivability, etc. Desolation having Earplugs, Affinity, and Health Recovery makes it the best for me. And then Teostra’s Orphée is a beast instrument that shuts down unbearable monsters like kirin, (azure) Rathalos, and Teostra.
I mainly switch around between teostra or any of the two horn with heal (L) since when I used a horn my mindset is that I'm not going for the offence rather than I'd dance around in the distance stacking up buffs and heals. But the tricky part is to know when to use, especially heals (not boost), since i gotta pay attention to the monster's pattern and teammate's behavior. It's a neat challenge being a dedicated support.
Hunting tempered teostra with a team of 4 HH users was the most fun i ever had in a fight in monster hunter world. Needless to say he didnt stand a chance with all those doots and buffs landing on his skull

No problem, and fyi those are fairly thought out builds as well. Teostra is a defense build, there's way to get better damage on it. Also if you can get one more level of crit boost on the Desolation overture, that would be best but I didnt have the decoration for it
Personally I like using the Vespoid Queen because it combos into its own buffs easily, that para comes in at god sent times, and you look stylish while doing it
I know it's not the best, but I personally love the Bazelreid Rookslayer the most. It was my first Rarity 8, and it might not have the most songs but I think there's Beauty in its simplicity. It performs amazing in any size team, given that it can be self-sufficient in terms of damage and sustain. It only gets better the more people you have with you, and this is just my personal opinion, it's one of the best sounding hunting horns in the game. I've collected most of the horns in the game and I like how the Rookslayer sounds the most.
I started game with Longsword but then changed to hunting horn. Love that weapon. I try to play active, not to stay in corners and play melodies. I play deep vero but my first choice was Nergigante because you can spam health rec. in just one hit it's good to keep your teammates at full health. The other day I took bandit mantle and went for triple tzi-tzi-yaku it was raining gold.
I'm running wide range, Mushroomancer, Item prolonger, speed eating and horn maestro of course. I go with like tons of buffs for the team. So far the best/favorite horn I go with is nerg because of earplugs. I can easily heal my team with wide range as they're wailing on the monster.
I used to be a charge blade main. On a whim i turned my blast build into a blast horn build with the bazel horn. I have not even touched another weapon type since. Screw hammers and all that, horn does everything, and makes everyone better. I now main hunting horn Bazelreid and The Deviljho Horn. Though now i have a critical draw build I'm fleshing out which is just my attempt at being silly. Those longsword users think they got the market cornered on draw attacks...I draw my weapon and make everyone's attack rating higher...

Yeah, the Vero has now been outclassed by the Kjaar Pipe "Crusher": Same songs, but less power, 15% Affinity, a Lv 1 slot, blast damage, and Critical Status

Sonorous is good to a degree. If the horn is used correctly there isn't really a need to extend the songs since you will be reapplying the buffs as you attack. It is also not good on Deep Vero (Deviljho horn) Since the health up buff can be used as a heal you don't want it to last forever. That can be a nice heal but it has a cooldown time. So do not encore the health up L on that horn.
Last night i was using the Deep Vero in a group with another horn user using Desolations Overture the combination of our horns was verry effective at hunting tempered DevilJho.
I've been using my Jho horn(since the jho weapons are generally safe choices) and I've been having a lot of fun. I absolutely suck with the weapon but it's fun

While I agree that Teo's hunting horn is good against ailment; though against tempered kirin, the one-shotting monster, I'm pretty sure the advantage dies pretty quick
If you're already at max health then the song will count as a large heal the first time it is used, but you need to wait for the buff to wear off to heal again. It isn't too useful a song and the reason I was never a fan of the Dodogama horn
Am I missing something about the health boost? Basically I just use it as a large heal that can only be used once every 2 min or so. I know it raises max hp like eating but everyone always has that when doing tempered quest. Also the super pounds r nice, but I still don't think that justifies it to the extent that people praise it.
I started using HH with your videos, the only thing i don't agree with your list is the position of xeno's horn, i think it should be third with bazel's horn fourth and nergi's horn fifth just because there is no situation where i would use these two instead of deep vero. That's just in my opinion of course.
Yeah I like the HH. In the right hands it's OP, but I do wish that the melodies would b a bit longer and louder! Deep Vero's melody is to low and I can barely hear it with everything else going on... ie guns swords and monster roars.

Deviljho is the best for everything. Only important stat on a horn in solo is the damage everything else like ailments can just be fixed with decorations.
If I'm not using b rookslayer it's deep Vero. But i use +5 wide range so the rookslayer is the best healing horn in the game imo. I got so tired of failing SOS hunts because of THAT ONE GUY I went h h and wide range and literally haven't failed one hunt since

what are you referring to when you say "triple super pound melody"? I thought any song that is at least 3 notes long will have the longer encore moves.
steventamle Encore moves solely depends on which direction you are pushing when you are playing / encore, forward and backward hits the most times and most damaging but locks you in longer, the song length however affect how much damage your sonic waves does, the longer the more damage, so line up a few long length songs before you think there will be big openings and just spam play and encores on the monsters without fully playing the songs, use it to deal a bunch of damage

They can buff the HH as much as they want, it’s still going to be a very awkward and cumbersome weapon to a lot of players,

For Kushala I think the Royal Chordmaker is better, it also has All Wind Pressure Negated and Stamine Use Reduced, higher raw, and higher affinity

I know it's not the best, but I personally love the Bazelreid Rookslayer the most. It was my first Rarity 8, and it might not have the most songs but I think there's Beauty in its simplicity. It performs amazing in any size team, given that it can be self-sufficient in terms of damage and sustain. It only gets better the more people you have with you, and this is just my personal opinion, it's one of the best sounding hunting horns in the game. I've collected most of the horns in the game and I like how the Rookslayer sounds the most.

I started game with Longsword but then changed to hunting horn. Love that weapon. I try to play active, not to stay in corners and play melodies.
I play deep vero but my first choice was Nergigante because you can spam health rec. in just one hit it's good to keep your teammates at full health.
The other day I took bandit mantle and went for triple tzi-tzi-yaku it was raining gold.
I'm running wide range, Mushroomancer, Item prolonger, speed eating and horn maestro of course. I go with like tons of buffs for the team. So far the best/favorite horn I go with is nerg because of earplugs.
I can easily heal my team with wide range as they're wailing on the monster.
I used to be a charge blade main. On a whim i turned my blast build into a blast horn build with the bazel horn. I have not even touched another weapon type since. Screw hammers and all that, horn does everything, and makes everyone better. I now main hunting horn Bazelreid and The Deviljho Horn. Though now i have a critical draw build I'm fleshing out which is just my attempt at being silly. Those longsword users think they got the market cornered on draw attacks...I draw my weapon and make everyone's attack rating higher...
Im gonna try the HH now this got me really curious! I was mainly switching weapons to much because nothing felt exactly right so I hope HH will fit.

Yeah, the Vero has now been outclassed by the Kjaar Pipe "Crusher": Same songs, but less power, 15% Affinity, a Lv 1 slot, blast damage, and Critical Status

Sonorous is good to a degree. If the horn is used correctly there isn't really a need to extend the songs since you will be reapplying the buffs as you attack. It is also not good on Deep Vero (Deviljho horn) Since the health up buff can be used as a heal you don't want it to last forever. That can be a nice heal but it has a cooldown time. So do not encore the health up L on that horn.
Last night i was using the Deep Vero in a group with another horn user using Desolations Overture the combination of our horns was verry effective at hunting tempered DevilJho.

While I agree that Teo's hunting horn is good against ailment; though against tempered kirin, the one-shotting monster, I'm pretty sure the advantage dies pretty quick

What’s Health Boost (L) for? Don’t most people usually get their max health from food/items beforehand?
If you're already at max health then the song will count as a large heal the first time it is used, but you need to wait for the buff to wear off to heal again. It isn't too useful a song and the reason I was never a fan of the Dodogama horn
We may need an update on this.
Am I missing something about the health boost? Basically I just use it as a large heal that can only be used once every 2 min or so. I know it raises max hp like eating but everyone always has that when doing tempered quest. Also the super pounds r nice, but I still don't think that justifies it to the extent that people praise it.
I started using HH with your videos, the only thing i don't agree with your list is the position of xeno's horn, i think it should be third with bazel's horn fourth and nergi's horn fifth just because there is no situation where i would use these two instead of deep vero. That's just in my opinion of course.

Yeah I like the HH. In the right hands it's OP, but I do wish that the melodies would b a bit longer and louder! Deep Vero's melody is to low and I can barely hear it with everything else going on... ie guns swords and monster roars.

Deviljho is the best for everything. Only important stat on a horn in solo is the damage everything else like ailments can just be fixed with decorations.
Isnt the gama horn basically the same as the deviljho horn? Only thing is deviljho is way more atk dmg?

If I'm not using b rookslayer it's deep Vero. But i use +5 wide range so the rookslayer is the best healing horn in the game imo. I got so tired of failing SOS hunts because of THAT ONE GUY I went h h and wide range and literally haven't failed one hunt since

what are you referring to when you say "triple super pound melody"? I thought any song that is at least 3 notes long will have the longer encore moves.
steventamle Encore moves solely depends on which direction you are pushing when you are playing / encore, forward and backward hits the most times and most damaging but locks you in longer, the song length however affect how much damage your sonic waves does, the longer the more damage, so line up a few long length songs before you think there will be big openings and just spam play and encores on the monsters without fully playing the songs, use it to deal a bunch of damage
