I STRONGLY feel that not making all weapons craftable was a horrible mistake. What I think they should have done is to get to the end of certain weapon path then have the option to use Kulve Taroth material to go into a different path. For example, craft and fully upgrade the Great Jagras HBG, then you'd have the option to use KT mats to change it to Gold Glutton Cannon and then be able to upgrade it to Taroth Assault "Glutton". I would not mind if they made KT a bit tougher as a payoff to have this kind of mechanic instead. I've given up on ever getting TA"G" because I know while I could get it in my next raid, it's just as likely that I can fight her 100 more times and still not get it.
This the classic MH endgame. Farming and grinding until you're something like a god. If Kuvle had been different it would have been too easy and too fast to finish.
I agree. The KT gold plating lore also makes more sense if it was a end game augmentation-boss hunt mission. Right now everyone just farms KT to get a t7-8 weap and not bother with the whole upgrade process. @Michael Greengrave You're completely missing his point.
There’s over 400 weapons. It would take just as long to get the stuff you wanted (assuming you want more than one Kulve taroth weapon) considering the theme of needing a large number of parts to forge Kulve taroth gear.

Hello Gameconomist, for your Insatiable gunlance build, just switch the dragon king eye patch for the nergigante helm B for one extra free slot, know you have 100% affinity.
There's also the Taroth Buster "Poison", 460 attack and 15% affinity base and hidden poison element. White with Handicraft 2+. It's only Normal 3, but who cares just use it for melee.
For PC Players use these till the KT Event drops on Nov.2: Wide x3: Either Bazel or Barroth, Normal x4: Royal Burst from Rathian, Long x3 or x4: Up to you. Can't believe though no mention on the Empress Howl versions. Esp "Ruin" and "Styx".
True, haven't got a Long GL yet. Been using Normal and Wide till KT Event drops so I can start grinding out for her good drops. Just need players to help on that front since it's going to be my first run on her.
Honestly I think I prefer it for that. A lot of the time I'll poke/uppercut with the lance to position the gun portion before I start shelling and the extra blasts here and there aren't too shabby. Also the thing looks cool as fuck.
It's definitely what I use. Instead of using nothing but charge shots like in his build, you abuse the burst fire, swing reload, burst loop, so you get lot's of blast procs and knockdowns.
my guy, your vids are informative but can we start getting timestamp? 8 minutes into this 17 minute video and ive yet to see a list of top gunlances. you ramble alot
Here's wishing for upgrades to the Anjanath and Paolumu sets to better enable and diversify Artillery builds. Also Kulve can go shove it for hogging all the Wide 4 gunlances. But, thank God we have Barroth at wide 3.
Is baroth 3 better than jyura 3 and bazel buster? I've been using bazel buster with 1 health augment and have been doing great so far, the blast procs are good for flinches and for me it seems to break parts easier.
Any can be use as long as youre not against AT monster. For AT, the best is try to get lvl4 shelling (any type) for maximize the dmg unless youre use a lot melee rather than shelling.
@@BoredAndBrowsing Out of the craftable ones, Insatiable Gunlance with a single Health Augmentation is Fantastic. Second one is optional, I took affinity, very helpful for maintaining white sharpness. This GL will serve you Very well against Tempered Elder Dragons. Against ATs, I'd recommend the R6, wide Lv4 KT gunlance, or the R8 Wide Lv4 that takes elementless, if you want a bit more of a challenge ;)
I think Taroth Buster "Poison" should also get an honorable mention as a melee Gunlance because it has 460 Raw (506 with Elementless Jewel) along with a 15% base affinity and a larger chunk of white sharpness. This makes it flexible for crit-heavy builds with skills like Master's Touch since it's easier to hit 100%.
Tip: you dont need speed sharpening 3. Use whetfish scales to sharpen. It sharpens with only 2 strokes but its a consumable. So one grinder deco is enough. If you need more set some time aside for an expedition and listen to a podcast or something.
Such a well thought-out list! Your critique of every Gunlance was spot on. Insatiable has become my favourite GL of late for farming TEDs, but I'd not Dream of bringing it against a high damage monster like Behemoth. I personally prefer the R6 Bomber Gold Exploder as a wide Gunlance for chill hunting sessions, with 3x Health Augment and Recovery Up, you are basically unkillable, more so than with Long shots even. BTW, the Barroth GL is functionally the same as the KT one, just with less damage and worse sharpness.
Ah Caoslayer, all of the gunlancers must know this guy ! Go check his Behemoth run. PS : for those guys who use charged shells with Taroth Buster Water, this video is for you.
Haha i remember using charged shelling with my Wide 4 GL for a while...until i finally found out that they changed shelling from past games where the charged boost is on Long GL now instead of Wide like they were in previous games. Once i figured out World changed it i stopped charging my Wide4 GL lol.
Check out Yama 2501. Evasion style is way stronger. His TA run is 13 minutes. Mine is 18. Cao’s is 21. Cao is super helpful and has done a lot for the community, but not really up to par with GL meta.
what? Why? GL is the easiest weapon to pick up...there`s only 4 combos (including imfamous poke-shell with wide and charge shell with Long) the main problem is the Gunlances itself, top tier GL are droped only from Kulve and AT Kulve...
Solid list, I prefer the lv 6 wide 4 because going 2 health regen + a slot is so comfy for multiple build and going 3ple health regen I can do temp monsters like nergi in 4 minutes without using a single potion which is amazing.
Another good way to get vouchers is by carrying poogie to the handler in astera. He will dig some up if he loves you. You can also find poogie outfits that way. By the fossil in the corner with the scholars. Under the white banner next to the huntsman. In the lookout point where the admiral hangs out and under the brazier by the water at the botanical area, next to the stairs leading to the canteen.
@TheGameconomist the reason why wyvern fire is different between the gunlance and heavy bow gun is because the gunlance had wyvern fire before the heavy bow gun. the heavy bow gun first started using wyvern fire in MH Tri were as the gunlance was not in the game. it was also thought long ago that the HBG would loos its wyver fire in MH Tri G (MH Tri Ultimate ) and to be replaced by the heavy bow gun beam from MH frontier online. Before MH Tri the wyvern fire had larger explosions to its attack but when they added the gunlance to MH Tri G they kept the same explosion animations from HBG and copy/posted them over to the gunlance either to save time from animation/programming or to be lazy
Speed sharpening is wayyy more important for gunlances bc of how fast they lose sharpness you wanna be able to just one and done the sharpening when you're in the heat of battle
@@TheGameconomist Hey, just chiming in to voice my admiration. It's not typical seeing this level of thoughtfulness in the realm of video game fandom, so keep doing what you do!
It’s not perfect, but i’ll give it this- I’ve had more fun with Royal Burst than my other GLs- after fully augmenting it with Health Recovery 3x. With additional recovery skills- full bursts basically do Mega Potion level healing at the same time they damage, every time. With Cap Boost, I barely need to use my healing items at all, if ever.
Something to consider for the taroth buster bomber set, for the legs you can use the empress B set, you can use the 2 medium deco slots for evasion extend, and then you also get 2x vitality as well, overall it saves you a small deco slot.
Is this for solo run? Then yes, wide shelling always better. For multi, I always go for long or normal and as you mentioned normal burst take a longer time to do and recover but... The feels is sooo good man xD
Agreed. Fav weapon in the game for fun points. Love seeing the burst damage of that combo with a wyvern fire at the end when the monster is KO-ed.. But i havent tried the more efficient lances yet so..
One thing about your list, you should have put taroth buster poison at spot 2 with Jho gunlance IMO. It is the highest dmg melee gunlance in the game due to being able to get white with 2 lv of handicraft, no negative afinity and with elementless it has more true raw than Jho lance (210*1.1=231 instead of 230). The no negative afinity part means you can build skills such as more atk boost or peak performance instead of more max might. Jho has the adventage of having 2 augment slots and being easy to get, but loses in terms of pure damage.
Wow, how dumb was I? After watching this, I was like "Wait, I think I have those gunlances" and sure enough, I do. Great video! I can't wait to try those builds for KGE and Taroth Water!
For Tarroth Buster Water, it's best that you go for Level 5 Earplugs and three pieces of Kushala for Wind Negate. Even Kushala Y gives you earplugs. If you run both earplugs and wind resist, you can get higher dps since you dont have to go much on other attack decos since all youre focusing on is artillery, capacity boost and guard up.
Another tip for Food Skills Bombadier...use as many fresh (shiny) ingredients as possible. Obviously, you will need at least 4 Artillery ingredients (bottom row)
With the taroth assault water build If you remove the grinder and crit jewel you could replace them with attack jewels and do way more damage. A good moveset I set up was poke poke shoot shoot poke shot reload. For consistent damage
Because Wide requires such little investment for damage since it's mainly shelling you can use medicine jewels instead of attack or crit boost for the pokes making the regen is quite insane.
Before lvl4 wide was introduced normal full burst combo was king. Now lvl4 wide is just more versatile and more damaging. The only advantage for normal is that it does 40 more damage per burst. It loses in every other aspect. My most damaging combo with wide is, shell, shell, reload, smash, FB, sweep, reload, repeat or smash FB, repeat (w/ capacity boost). This has better dps than the normal FB combo.
Love your series, well informed. Can you do this for all updated weapons?I like adding your opinion to my math. Being on PC makes it easy to do any build so this type of video format is great.
Another short lance to concider would be nergigante's lance. It is a good one for melee users like myself and has high elderseal for elder dragons. It is pretty hard hitting and pairs well with part breaker.
I personally believe that normal shelling gunlances are stronger than both wide and long. Personally, my favorite it a huge crit-based Xeno set with several decorations for sharpness. Because of it, I am able to spam the full burst combo an unbelievable amount of times before I even need to think about sharpening, and the monster is either dead or running away by that point. In addition to that fact, I find that normal gunlances seem to have the best feel as to what the weapon was intended to be, where both the shelling and the melee are equally balanced. When you only use half of the weapon, you may as well just choose a different one.
You could also include the old 3 ult way of what I would call ‘Mix’ gunlancing, where you choose a normal and go for a mix of long and wide tactics which is good for any fight, though you won’t be doing max damage.
Basically I use normal shelling since Ive started playing and like those combos a lot. And here’s my question - what are wide and long shells combos? It’s just like poke>shell>poke>shell for wide and poke>charged shell>charged shell>charged shell for long? If so it doesn’t seem fun.
Advice: I recommend using the gems for protective polish, and guard up. You'll get a solid minute of endless sharpness and can defend against 99.9% of attacks, (only big comet and lunastra's blue flames can't be blocked, off the top of my head).
You can also ledge hop into full burst if the lege is high enoungh to not make you slide down after an attack, it's less dmg but explosions makes it more fun.

This gives you 493.42 EFR, White Sharpness, 100% Affinity, and Behemoth's Master Touch. You only need Handicraft Lv. 2 in order to hit white sharpness but you have the option to add one more level but that's the only skill you can add so might as well take it. Smacklance Jho Min Max: Insatiable Gunlance - 2 Affinity Augments Nergigante Helm B - Attack Jewel, Expert Jewel Drachen Chest A - Tenderizer Jewel Drachen Arms A - Critical Jewel, Tenderizer Jewel Drachen Waist A - Mighty Jewel Drachen Legs A - Tenderizer Jewel Handicraft Charm 3 Evasion Mantle Temporal Mantle Skills: Behemoth's Master Touch, Elemental Airborne, Critical Eye Lv. 7, Attack Boost Lv. 4, Maximum Might Lv. 3, Critical Boost Lv. 3, Handicraft Lv. 3, Weakness Exploit Lv. 3, and Power Prolonger Lv. 1. You can trade 2 Handicraft for 1 Attack Boost since you only need 1 o hit white sharpness but that's stupid so don't do it. Smacklance Jho Airborne Min Max: Insatiable Gunlance - Affinity Augments Drachen Helm A - Expert Jewel, Attack Jewel Drachen Chest A - Mighty Jewel Drachen Arms A - 2 Tenderizer Jewels Kushala Waist Y - 2 Expert Jewels Drachen Legs A - Tenderizer Jewel Mighty Charm 2 Evasion Mantle Temporal Mantle Skills: Behemoth's Master Touch, Elemental Airborne, Critical Eye Lv. 7, Attack Boost Lv. 4, Critical Boost Lv. 3, Maximum Might Lv. 3, Weakness Exploit Lv. 3, Handicraft Lv. 2, and Airborne Lv. 1. This gives you 474.94+27 EFR, White Sharpness, 100% Affinity, and Behemoth's Master Touch. If I remember correctly, Long Shelling is kind of bad damage wise and not relevant in top meta builds or top speed runs but I could be wrong.
Indeed, Long shelling is not a speedrun nor a meta build. (wich is to be expected.) And there really is no need for any "top" build for it anyway since it only requires artillery 3, capacity boost and focus 3 to reach it, so pretty much every end game set is gonna be able to equip these anyway, and utilities/defensive used on the side are always gonna be subjective. Isn't that bad damage wise though, you can still kill nergi in around 4 minutes with TA rules (can be reduced to 2~3 minutes if using palico and mantles.) wich is decent. And it lets you manage that while being half asleep too, what with the range and the absence of need to position yourself towards a weakpoint. It's a pretty niche shell type to begin with anyway, we're too addicted to explosions to care about optimal damage. Boom > Damage.
Pretty neat video. I was gonna disagree with you on the melee GL since the Gultton allows for more augments, elementless, more finity and the 2 jewel slots, but I just crit a downed Jagras in the head for 446 with a sweep via the Insatiable in solo run heh... so thanks for insight.
I have literally no idea why people say king gold exploder is the best long shelling gunlance taroth buster king is only worse in that it has fewer augmentation slots which since shelling doesn’t benefit from raw attack wouldn’t matter, they can’t crit do affinity doesn’t matter having more than one health augment doesn’t do anything, more than one defense would give minimal defense increase and the slot upgrade can only give you extra level 1 slots which you honestly won’t benefit from much. I mean what are you going to do put in a fortitude jewel? Most meta armor sets have plenty of decoration slots for gunlance so it’s not even like you can work in say vitality jewels since most have room for them anyway and long shelling lances don’t benefit from melee. Really the only augment you would really want or need is health I just don’t see the rarity 6 being more useful than the rarity 7 version other than arbitrary decos you don’t really need.
I really want the Taroth Water GL now... When I first started the game I was in love with the Normal 4 Slam of the Royal Burst, then I ended up realising how amazing the moveset of the normal Lance is and didnt try GL again. Recently got Taroth Sleep but im tired of the NRM 4 playstyle, Wide looks like its suits my aggressive playstyle more :(
Not sure about placing taroth buster sleep over royal burst. I still find royal burst superior for burst shelling. 15% affinity and double health regen while the buster sleep needs free element (the whole point to even bother using it) on top of other important skills. But in my opinion there's really only two gunlance you need unfortunately. 1. Taroth buster water Shell, poke, shell, poke, shell combo 2. Taroth buster bomber Shell, shell, poke, shell combo The taroth buster water is king for solo while the bomber is king for multiplayer. Bomber is also great for arch/extreme monsters. Double health regen goes a long way. More time attacking less time healing. Me and another friend have been able to carry people through extreme behemoth in help lobbies while I tanked using the bomber. It's that good. I'd say long shelling is great for people looking to get into gunlance though. My two cents from a gunlance main with over 1000 kills lol
Got Buster water as my first drop from kt and felt disappointed since I was aiming for glutton HBG , didnt know I got such a good weapon by chance time to dive into GL
Well, there is a reason that many people use "Speed Sharpening" and "Protective Polish" on normal gunlance. And it's fit in easily, tbh. Also, technically.... You don't have to sharpen until it's below green. Yes, the melee hit will go down but burst shelling still go well until yellow.
That means you need speed sharpening, protective polish, artillary, and capacity boost. Whereas Insatiable gunlance can use all of those slots to just build more melee damage.
That's certainly a hell of a video. I personally like Empress Howl Styx because White sharpness, two decoration slots, razor sharp (which means you can get three skills from your weapon), and good blast damage. But taroth buster water is pretty damn good, too. Do defense boost weapons have the chance to proc divine protection like the augmentation that boosts defense does?
Don’t follow these builds then because they aren’t very good. Wide 4 GL with EE3 is amazing. Wyrmstake and Wyvern’s Fire are stronger with W4 than the other two types as well, giving you more of a reason to use them when playing W4.
I love the video it was informative but with all the Kulve Tarroth weapons it gives new players kind of a lose of hope due to them being RNG, never mind being an event mission. Personally what would be a well rounded top 5 Base Game weapons
Is it better to use a long or wide shelling type when fighting Behemoth? Been trying to solo him and I’m not sure of it’s better to use Taroth Exploder King or Water.
Weird question: Why is the King Gold Exploder better than the Taroth Buster "King"(rarity 7, more damage?)? Is it due to the 3 Augs vs 2 Augs? It has 100 more Attack and 100 more Element(Albiet it the worst element in the game), that's not enough to put it ahead? Or would it be kind of a "Break even" scenario?
Long Shelling can actually be the best at Full Burst as well. As long as you have Capacity Boost, the higher per shell damage will outdo the lower capacity(Capacity Boost IS required for this). By outdo i mean lose like 5 damage per full burst while having bigger range. If you're playing Long Full Burst the best pick would probably be the R8 Kulve Rath. Magda Lahat is also good, but eh. So yeah, not only another Kulve Taroth weapon to the list/honorable mentions, there is EVEN LESS REASON TO PLAY NORMAL SHELLING. Thanks capcom.
I love the tarroth buster sleep lance because of its crazy high sleep letting me wyvern fire often with artillery 3, but I agree that I'd like it better if it was not a normal lance. Oh well, I love being able to sleep most targets over three times a hunt anyway
Bit late for this comment but I noticed the long build has damascus b chest and kushala y grips that both have focus lv2. If you get around to updating this list and builds then this is moot at this point but if not then just wanted to point out the redundancy. Though I imagine at this point you may as well hold off on redoing weapon lists since iceborn is around the corner :P
I've found a wakeup with gunlance that consistently gets high damage and it's not with the blast, the wide swing is the best wakeup, just position yourself perpendicular to the monsters weakpoint and do the downswing into wideswing combo. OTHER THAN THAT GREAT VIDEO!
Idk about that. 600 infallible wake up damage from wyvern’s fire would be best with a wide 4 shelling build. Obviously wide sweep with a non-shelling build.
Little sad to see that 3 of these are kulve weapons as I was interested in getting into this weapon. Also, could you do a lance video soon? Its another one that im not quite sure what to look for as a GS main
Capcom REALLY love that deco rng . Just from my main weapons we have capacity boost and all 3 of the shot decos. All 4 r8 deco . All 4 have VERY bad armor they come with while being essential to decent dps. Wonder why though...
I don't really agree that the Taroth "Sleep" is Better then the Royal for Slamfire for the Sole Reason that The "Sleep" has more of a Sharpening Game then the Royal. Meaning you'll spend more Down time with the "Sleep" for a small damage increase to its Base Damage.
I know this is an old video. Can I ask though why you use critical eye and other attack skills on a wide shelling build、when your damage is primarily from your shelling which is fixed damage.
Capacity boost is also useful for charge blades and I fucking sucks so much that were stuck with using dodogama pants or a charm cause prey to the rng gods to give you a capacity boost gem is like asking for a arty or attack gem
pouring the drachen armor into builds is frustrating. it seems really unobtainable at this point on PC, not only because it´s not released yet but also because behemoth seems really f* hard to do
Insatiable is good for melee but I'm using a drachen and some kt gl and doing similar numbers as your video but I have a lot more affinity don't need a booster and I think I have more slots probably why tho. My wideswing on nerg is 247
I don’t think you mentioned it, but why do you place King Gold Exploder over Taroth Exploder King, which has higher raw and fire element? Is it the extra augmentation slot?
Why „King Gold Exploader“ and not „Taroth Buster „King““/„Kjarr Buster „King““? Just the Augment Slots? (Yes I am aware that Kjarr was not around when this Video was made)
I have well over 200hrs with the gunlance and have played so many different builds. It used to he the only weapon i play. I can tell you there are builds never mentioned here that are quite powerful. There is a better melee weapon than the deviljho gunlance due to the affinity. I have a 2 very powerful gunlance builds. One spams normal and you mentioned how slow it is and yes it is but that just comes down to timing and positioning when attacking the monster. There are spots on monsters that make it much more unlikely you will be hit. With gunlance users we constantly take advantage of these spots also knowing how long your recovery to block is crucial to when you attack. Gunlance is quite difficult to use but there are better builds that arent shown here but with any gunlance if you make a mistake you will instantly receive the maximum punishment lol
I have played roughly 150 quests with a normal shelling build. Partly Taroth buster sleep, partly pink Rathian's GL. I can't get into the other two shelling types. Don't like them at all. Normal shelling is my favourite.
Tiger Eye That would have been a great way to implement her weapons, but RNGesus brainwashed the devs to do his bidding.

Hello Gameconomist, for your Insatiable gunlance build, just switch the dragon king eye patch for the nergigante helm B for one extra free slot, know you have 100% affinity.
The game really is in a bad state if one monster drops the objectively best 5 weapons of a same type.
Well, that's mostly only the GL that find themselves in that situation. All other weapons types have some of their best weapons being non-kulve ones.

Considering that there are Normal and Long Shelling lvl 4 in the base game.... wide is the only really optional one
True, haven't got a Long GL yet. Been using Normal and Wide till KT Event drops so I can start grinding out for her good drops. Just need players to help on that front since it's going to be my first run on her.

This makes it flexible for crit-heavy builds with skills like Master's Touch since it's easier to hit 100%.
No offense but if you are not going to use Shells then you better use another weapon then, those are my 2 cents in the matter.
Might as well use lance instead
I was going to say this...its IS a GUNlance after all ...
What's the point of a gun lance if you don't use the gun amirite?
@@ifrit1937 The only thing that matters is that you understood that, and then adapted the way you play. ;)
Check out Yama 2501. Evasion style is way stronger. His TA run is 13 minutes. Mine is 18. Cao’s is 21. Cao is super helpful and has done a lot for the community, but not really up to par with GL meta.
Slamburst without Protective Polish is not playable.
Im Ethan Slamberry!
Protective Polish and Speed Sharpening
I dont' have protective polish so should I focus more on the Focus/Long and Melee builds rather than the Wide one?
Speed Sharpening works too.
Just started getting into gunlace. Turns out I got KGE and "Sleep" from my KT runs. Glad I caught that before i solf any R6's. Thanks!!!
Starts On 7:52
maybe now I won't be bad at gunlance!
who am I kidding, I'll always be bad at gunlance
😁😁 same
what? Why? GL is the easiest weapon to pick up...there`s only 4 combos (including imfamous poke-shell with wide and charge shell with Long) the main problem is the Gunlances itself, top tier GL are droped only from Kulve and AT Kulve...
@@LPrussia07 ever heard of greatsword lmao
Solid list, I prefer the lv 6 wide 4 because going 2 health regen + a slot is so comfy for multiple build and going 3ple health regen I can do temp monsters like nergi in 4 minutes without using a single potion which is amazing.
Godzilla real talk
wide gunlance i think have the most powerfull wyvernblast and it is usefull for interrupt monsters escapes and bring down shooting at the legs
That's true
Another good way to get vouchers is by carrying poogie to the handler in astera. He will dig some up if he loves you. You can also find poogie outfits that way. By the fossil in the corner with the scholars. Under the white banner next to the huntsman. In the lookout point where the admiral hangs out and under the brazier by the water at the botanical area, next to the stairs leading to the canteen.
@TheGameconomist
the reason why wyvern fire is different between the gunlance and heavy bow gun is because the gunlance had wyvern fire before the heavy bow gun. the heavy bow gun first started using wyvern fire in MH Tri were as the gunlance was not in the game. it was also thought long ago that the HBG would loos its wyver fire in MH Tri G (MH Tri Ultimate ) and to be replaced by the heavy bow gun beam from MH frontier online.
Just go fishing and get some whetfishfin+ is like having spd sharpening and it have a chance not to be consumed

Man, I wish there were more channels that put out your quality of content.
Thanks! There's so many vids on youtube, its hard to find exactly what you're looking for. Hopefully I keep that quality up until the day I retire.
Same...solo run use wide R8 for multi long r6 which is my fav type of GL
For multi, long is a good option since you can't be knocked by allies when charging your shell
0:27 Here's someone who desperately need a friend and thought you were waving at him. Poor NPC :(
One thing about your list, you should have put taroth buster poison at spot 2 with Jho gunlance IMO.
Stahp! That would make 5 Kulve weapons out of 5! Leave some hope for the non-kulve wahpons! They'd go extinct otterwise!
Another tip for Food Skills Bombadier...use as many fresh (shiny) ingredients
as possible. Obviously, you will need at least 4 Artillery ingredients
(bottom row)
With the taroth assault water build
If you remove the grinder and crit jewel you could replace them with attack jewels and do way more damage. A good moveset I set up was
poke poke shoot shoot poke shot reload. For consistent damage
I'm glad someone is still making MHW videos, keep up the good work!
My son thinks the “Gotcha” whisper at the beginning of your videos is hilarious. lol
Bazel beta with 2x guard is pretty common and good
Because Wide requires such little investment for damage since it's mainly shelling you can use medicine jewels instead of attack or crit boost for the pokes making the regen is quite insane.
This has better dps than the normal FB combo.
started using gunlances and was sooooo happy to find out that I already had a Taroth Water GL collecting dust in my inventory
Behemoth's gore attack (where he pins you down, grabs you and then smacks you) can't be blocked either.
You can also ledge hop into full burst if the lege is high enoungh to not make you slide down after an attack, it's less dmg but explosions makes it more fun.
What is the next best choice for wide shelling other then one that drops from Kulve. Like the gunlances so far seem really fun
Give me the names of your music's.

Taroth Buster "King" is by far my favorite. I've used Charged Shelling for most, if not all, the Arch Tempered fights and it hasn't let me down.
Question: why would you use a meme gun lance? Isnt that just a normal lance then?
I don't think normal GLs are that bad. Sharpness can be managed with polish protect, and you do get full damage anywhere on the body unlike melee GL.
1. Taroth buster water
Shell, poke, shell, poke, shell combo
2. Taroth buster bomber
Shell, shell, poke, shell combo
The taroth buster water is king for solo while the bomber is king for multiplayer.
Great vid man I had pretty quit playing mhw and I saw this earlier and it made hop back in lol so thanks.
Thats great!
Would you recommend any of the lunastra gunlances? Trying out gunlances for the first time today
I think the wyvern fire being split to 3 increases the chance of K.O. compared to wyvern ammo
how do you do that jump dodge at 15:22? I see people doing that in videos all the time but the game never explains how to do it.
Oh, it's the Temporal Mantle. It automatically evades any incoming attack, that's why it looks like that.
I love the gunlance but it's so clunky to use.
Plus I want to use all aspects of the gunlance, which includes wyrmstake
The WRYYYYstake is love *-*
Don’t follow these builds then because they aren’t very good. Wide 4 GL with EE3 is amazing. Wyrmstake and Wyvern’s Fire are stronger with W4 than the other two types as well, giving you more of a reason to use them when playing W4.
I love the video it was informative but with all the Kulve Tarroth weapons it gives new players kind of a lose of hope due to them being RNG, never mind being an event mission. Personally what would be a well rounded top 5 Base Game weapons
Yes , exactly my perspective as a new guy. I was about to leave his page before your comment.
Is it better to use a long or wide shelling type when fighting Behemoth? Been trying to solo him and I’m not sure of it’s better to use Taroth Exploder King or Water.
Weird question:
Why is the King Gold Exploder better than the Taroth Buster "King"(rarity 7, more damage?)?
Is it due to the 3 Augs vs 2 Augs? It has 100 more Attack and 100 more Element(Albiet it the worst element in the game), that's not enough to put it ahead? Or would it be kind of a "Break even" scenario?
You don't melee with long shelling. You only charged shelling. Melee is only there for quick reload/reset
Not exactly true, no long shelling gunlance can reach white sharpness. All of them have worse melee than Royal Burst/Sleep.
What is the dogde movement he does during the fight vs Lunastra around min 12:00?
That's an automatic roll performed by Temporal Mantle.
I love the tarroth buster sleep lance because of its crazy high sleep letting me wyvern fire often with artillery 3, but I agree that I'd like it better if it was not a normal lance. Oh well, I love being able to sleep most targets over three times a hunt anyway
I absolutely love the normal shelling. Use protective polish and u r good.
Charger Blades, Lance, GunLance are best defense and offense attacking too
i like how the song in the beggning is the bazeljuice song which it fits the explosive gun
Man great video! I couldn’t wait for this video to show up. I think you made one word mistake but other than that great video.
Capacity boost is also useful for charge blades and I fucking sucks so much that were stuck with using dodogama pants or a charm cause prey to the rng gods to give you a capacity boost gem is like asking for a arty or attack gem
pouring the drachen armor into builds is frustrating. it seems really unobtainable at this point on PC, not only because it´s not released yet but also because behemoth seems really f* hard to do
Swine Rider don’t worry, with a half competent team, (regular) behemoth is not that hard. Just watch videos on behemoth runs.
i beg to differ. behemoth isn't as difficult as how everyone say it is.
You don’t actually have to defeat him to get his armor just farm for the parts to make there armor
Kenneth Jireh Sareno he’s not that bad at all. But people are just trash and always die lol
Insatiable is good for melee but I'm using a drachen and some kt gl and doing similar numbers as your video but I have a lot more affinity don't need a booster and I think I have more slots probably why tho. My wideswing on nerg is 247
Isn't the HBG wyvern ammo split in 2 hits ? 1rst super low and 2nd big.
Great list!
Is the Kjarr king GL just as good as king gold exploder?
I don’t think you mentioned it, but why do you place King Gold Exploder over Taroth Exploder King, which has higher raw and fire element? Is it the extra augmentation slot?
Its because long playstyle doesnt need the raw. You rarely melee with that playstyle.
Oh ok, I assumed raw factored into shell damage. Thanks!
I didn’t just pick up the gun lance: it found me.
for the long range shell one anyone know if taroth buster king will be a good choice ? it has the same lvl 2 aug slots and 20 defense.
Thoughts on KT R8 Posion GL? Please?
Why „King Gold Exploader“ and not „Taroth Buster „King““/„Kjarr Buster „King““? Just the Augment Slots? (Yes I am aware that Kjarr was not around when this Video was made)
i actually saw a speed runner using gamma xeno on the gun lances i never really understood why
Can someone help me? I’ve seen ppl run with the gun lance and stab the monster multiple times or is that the regular lance?
My Favourite and most used gunlance is the deathfang gunlance III.
I used that for the longest time. But now I use Lunastra Styx due to that sweet halved sharpness loss.
I dont get meele gunlances build not using shell...just play the lance?
How did he block teostras supernova without shieldjewel?
Royal burst is amazing I have both and I still choose to use the royal B!
I have played roughly 150 quests with a normal shelling build. Partly Taroth buster sleep, partly pink Rathian's GL.
I can't get into the other two shelling types. Don't like them at all. Normal shelling is my favourite.
Paralysis Gunlance has been my jam for so long
I've been waiting on this
The KT stuff is just like the 4u weapons from the lvl quest.
