Thanks for the explanation. I just started into World, and kept trying to echo attack as an opening and got the slinger to fire instead. There doesn't seem to be any obvious explanation for this, but now that I know it has to be a secondary attack, I should be able to work it out. I know that might sound simple, but a little knowledge can go a long way. Thanks for the video explanation. :-)

TY for this video. I use an attack xl blast one and i'm not mr70 yet. However I downed everything in my book yet including event kulve taroh, furious rajang, and I use 1 piece of the new brachy as well. All my prog was due to the weapon switch. Compared to LS, it deals a bit less damage in ideal scenarios yes but in the other hand it has way better pokes, is insane in party(just attack boost XL is like playing at 5 players) and has combat utility from heavy weapons that tend to just win fights in progression(easy tenderizing, KO damages). If you die a using this weapon, try evade decorations and linking your hits with stabs a bit more.
The main riff of the background music looks sooo similar to Brazil’s most notorious television news program Jornal Nacional. The first 6 notes are the exact same. It feels weird listening to in the video, I feel like some breaking news are about to drop in
You missed a backflip into echo into backflip, by far the most damaging and staggering move. The KO modifier for each move is for distance traveled relative to the tip of the HH. Doing 3 full 360 spins is huge even on hidden ailments like exhaustion and ailment buildup like KO, dizzy, paralyze/poison/sleep
Solid vid m8, also hope to get some answers on the other echo buffs as this series goes along, like how much evade window does evade window and speed up song give and does it stack with the armor skills/ can go over evade5 cap

@@thmor5957 The songs nor the skill will not stack together. One will override the other if it is of higher value. I believe and don't quote me on this that the evasion song grants you the equivalent of having Evasion 3.
@@thmor5957 like I said the skills do not stack with the songs. You can see this via running Earplugs 3 and then running the Bone Horn. Which gives you Earplugs 3 when song is activated. For evasion song and how many frames it gives you, that would be something you could test and publish your findings. I think there was a small clip showing that it was close to Evasion 3 but again checking yourself is the next best step.
Honestly, I've been reverse-engineering HH runs from you and other people like Canta to learn all the tricks. It's nice to finally get another clear video about this stuff to hopefully get some new players into the weapon... but I'm already to the point where HH is my weapon for easy fast clears on MR Tempered Kirin.

Check this album out for an idea on how you can build your Safi ele HH :m.imgur.com/a/BjCohWA. The Safi and Velkhana mixed is recommended. I have something planned for Safi yes ! I want to get it out before it leaves on PC. Elemental is better than raw in most cases. Here are the exceptions : ruiner Nergigante, stygian zinogre, glavenus and Acidic glavenus. You can still use raw for a general set of course. If you do want to push even more, then elemental is what you should be looking into.

Thank you Flow. The hilt stab is ideal if it let's you land an additional echo attack. You can see that in the gold rathian clip at 11:40. It's also ideal if you want to quickly punish (like you weren't close and needed to close to gap to reach the monster)
Now that Safi is out on PC, do you have any idea if it's better to mix 2 Velkhana + 3 Safi for Crit Ele or just go full Safi? Also, I seem to be unable to fit Purple sharpness onto any elemental hunting horn build I come up with, I wonder how much of a damage loss that is.
I'm working on a video covering the safi update right now so you can look forward to that ! Tl dr : safi/CE is the strongest elemental HH build. Purple is not necessary for raw or elemental HH. It's better to stack attack/ele awakenings.Purple is a marginal gain and 20 hits of purple is harder to maintain than 40 hits of white. Not worth getting in general. My pleasure. The echo waves and the echo attack are really close for raw HH ONLY. On ele HH you're sticking with the spin2win. Part 2 of my series will cover the waves so don't worry about that ! While it was not the main focus, you can see the waves being useful at 13:33. They are great and the KO/damage potential they bring is great. Try playing 2-3 waves and then encoring it during a big opening ! Pretty good as well.
I always play elemental anyway and have started doing a "circle" hilt stab between echo attacks to line up my echo waves. But I'm no expert, my one and only Black Veil VH solo saw me win in 49:49. 11 seconds to spare!

I fell in love with elemental hunting horn + safi armor. 2 months ago when i started testing stuff. The elemental buff from safi armor almost outdamaged the silver sol armor. echo attack did like 2 damage less than than with true crit element on the same horn, with same amount of buffs. BUT the safi armor has so many more slots that i just go for that one nowadays for almost every horn. Have not tried the raw hunting horns yet tho.....but they seem lackluster, what are your thoughts?
Not only Safi armor boosts your elemental damage and has more gem slots, but also gives you 40% more Affinity with full set equipped, so you only need to reach 60% with Critical Eye and augments, no need to use Weakness Exploit anymore. Also helps to boost the Evade Window skill to make the Hunting Horn even deadlier with more i-frames to spare. Raw Hunting Horn is still powerful enough, but yeah, Elemental seems more attractive now with the Echo Attack.

Oh I realize that I didn't explain it properly. Yes some monsters do have this kind of mechanic. This is the case for the savage jho counter. If you hit him during said counter, you get a topple. There are other uniqe interactions like landing a hit on shrieking legiana's head during its "bird of prey" move. You can see it at 13:17.

Is it easier to use the Hunting Horn if you leave your palico behind at camp?
It comes down to personal preference. I prefer no palico because it's easier to predict what the monster is going to do, when it's only focusing you.

I noticed you never really mention or use foward circle at any point and pretty much stuck to neutral circle. Is that move not really worth doing?
Only for notes stacks if you need to play a song, otherwise is just slow.
