@@Uno_Hunter Hey ley me tell you something. I was a youth minister for a few years and am very used to doing 50 minute long discussions XD. You did a very good job. You were super informative - very easy to listen to - and you managed to capture my attention for 50 minutes which is a FEAT let me tell you. I have been looking at guides back and forth trying to learn this game and I have to say yours is my favorite. Long live the doot doot, long live your videos.
It’s all part of learning a new weapon. MH doesn’t tell people a bunch of things that would be helpful so don’t feel bad about looking up a guide. I still use guides on how to get certain items lol
Bru the whole game is about to change for you, encore is not only about music, it's the most damaging move of the HH, I agresively encore every single opportunity I have, because in 90% of the time those two hits are going to flinch the monster and keep you safe
Somehow I just knew encore was a thing naturally without ever needing to be told about it or see a guide or anything, I just saw the music being played and thought "I bet if I press it again something's gonna happen" and it did! Something silly idk lmao
A super comprehensive Guide with lots of Extras that cant be found on any Combo or Button Lists ingame! This is peak learning material for new Players & a great refresher for Veterans!👌🏽(Also seems I forgot more about World HH than I thought xD)

I literally JUST watched your other HH guide last night, woke up this morning to see this. The timing is impeccable. Also, super solid video, definitely inspired me to finally try to learn the horn. Thank you!!!
I've figured out a few of these on my own but you really opened my eyes to rolling out of recitals, the little cutting jab, and the sneaky second note with the B swing up.
Tip: the Upright performance stance used to reach (echo wave) tall monsters as far as i recall can only be done after the "quick note" (cutting move)-> perform + standing in place. Then to encore upright is to encore + backward direction P.s. heavy backswing is ur bestfriend
Im literally saving this vid to a playlist holy crap. The information is so well put together, i might watch this weekly. I've only recently returned to hunting horn after who knows how long and man am I enjoying it. Hope to see you teaching the class when Wilds drops in a few months man

I'm a Rise HH main and just started World as an HH, and there is even less of us here 😂 i remade my forbidden wide range mushroomancer HH. Thanks for vids. i rage quit on these games for a while until i seen your first tutorial. I love using different horns for different monsters. Nightshade paolumu? All ailments negated. Blight? Blight negated. Etc.....Its great 👍
thank you mr uno for a great guide, the Ric flair of weapons, styling and profiling and with so much freedom of play. would like to add a couple points if i may, the left/right neutral swings can be used to hit heads that are higher off the ground using the hit from behind, also good for flyers. if you line up impact echo song 3 times and recital, it would have a big ol boom at the end, great for downed punishes and setting up for a following KO. drawing the horn in neutral to avoid adding a note you dont want to mess up your next song, and drawing the horn with the recital to for a quick song. the all ailments song also includes negating stun, which would free up a whole lot of skills slots. fatalis can most definitely be soloed with hh, i got my first kill with hh. earplugs are amazing for not getting your songs interrupted. and last but certainly not least, evade extender is incredible. personally would like to thank you for your old guide, because you taught me and inspired me to pick it up with your AT velkana vid, appreciate you mr uno, keep styling and profiling and keep on dooting good sir.
The having to stop moving to draw out your horn I definitely forgot to mention. Idk why it took all the way until rise for them to fix that 🤦🏾♂️ I beat AT Velkhana with the Horn? I sometimes forget all the stuff I did back then lmao
I love my hunting horn, ever since I picked it up I haven’t put it down since. These are some great tips, the hunting horn is a power weapon with a lot of utility. I always laugh when I see people dooting in the back. The only time I do that is when I have queued up a bunch of healing notes and have dodged a rather large aoe attack
I already played this weapon in pretty much every MH game that has it, and it's my second most used weapon of all, just behing Switch Axe. But your tutorial here still had some stuff I didn't know or wasn't aware of. Really good stuff. Actually made me gain confidence in trying the weapon out more and it has been way smoother than before thanks to those tips. And I'm impressed at your self-control at not playing every song buff and not preparing a new song with each move mahaha Honestly really good tutorial, it demystifies a bunch of misconceptions of the weapon being support-only, or that playing songs is too difficult or that it's a separate thing from actually fighting. I wish more players would actually try it out. With the Charge Blade being the 3rd or 4th most used weapon, and it has like 4 things you have to keep track at all times not counting the actual fight or item usage, you'd guess that players are used to micro-manage stuff. Which makes me pretty sure a major portion of the players don't even try to put their hads on HH due to head-cannon and word of mouth. On the other hand, it's comforting seeing a player with it in a room, as it usually means they're veterans and know very well what they're doing, they also usually like to help out newer players. A rare breed indeed.
Thank you. I usually will que up songs when I need them rather than always prepping them. Something I didn't mention is ill purposely will do certain moves to make sure I don't knock my last song off of the que if it's a song I need at that moment or soon.
@@Uno_Hunter Yeah, started noticing that was your strategy while watching some other vids. I'm learning self-control for now, still getting spanked by the slower monsters (not the fast ones for some reason), but it's been real fun.
Added to playlist. I really want to learn this weapon but after maining glaive for such a long time I couldn't get into other weapons that are less mobile.
Beautiful work sir,im a gen 3 player and i had a hard time convincing my friend that this weapon is not your typical "support" weapon and i got this video.
Thank you so much for the guide, I’m kinda getting used to it. Went in with my first hunt against Nargacuga managed to beat him in 9 minutes with my not very great skill with the HH yet
I found that for the timing to input the second note on the B double is when the horn swings behind you after the first swing to go into the second. If you press the note while its behind you it always works for me. Also important to note, your encore is the biggest damage potential. Encoring a longer song does more damage, thus the longer combo if you hold forward. That said, you can encore in 5 ways. Forwards or backwards for most damage and a pretty long combo, sideways or neutral for a faster encore (even with a larger song) but less damage.
Flinch free and Earplugs (+ maybe tremor) is especially the better multiplayer skills for HH. And I usually run 1 evade extender to be enough mobility and dodge while not being too far for position. Value is so much more knowing u got that buff to ur team at the starting roar.
I really appreciate this tutorial bro. I legit bought the game day 1 and it just wasn't clicking with me so I dropped it. Also wouldn't imagine this game even being relevant due to how long it's been out but, Just the other day my friends convinced me to give it another try so I can squad up with em. I folded and decided to go with the hunting horn since I usually like to play any class that allows me to wield a Bigass weapons and Bards (Former FFXIV player). I was feeling overwhelmed trying to take all this content in I just want to at least know how to play the class lmao thank you bro!✊
This is pretty dope uno! I just bought the game again (I play on pc) and I'm gonna hop back on in and join the frey! Might give hunting horn a try again, but maybe LS or HM maybe even LBG or HBG too!! Anyways, great vid!
As a HH main it’s great to see this weapon get some proper love again and the boxing analogy is just perfect to describe this weapon 👏🏻. 🎼🎼🎼 It’s beastly when you know how to use the weapon properly, cannot wait to jump into Wilds with the Doot Snoop Booper but for now WorldBorne and my horn collection shall suffice 🙂
Avoided HH for 10 years, first tume trying it again in Iceborne. Doing cool shit while i just try and get my buffs up because monsters run in face first to my swings
I recently gave LS (my least played weapon across all of monster hunter) another try. Where I previously thought it was clunky, I learned all sorts of things like how you can cancel the normal iai slash (which has tons of endlag, making it perfect for this) into foresight slash. This got me wondering if I was missing anything similar for hunting horn that would make me enjoy the weapon a lot, and so I found this video. I already knew all of this though sadly so I don't think HH is for me. Update: I cannot believe it took me over a dozen and a half hours of hunting horn gameplay, but... you're meant to improvise while using it... y'know, like an instrument. I think I've found my new main. Also turns out performing after attacks instead of doing it raw makes it easier to actually get songs out... who'd've thunk?
Glad you run Attack Melody 3, it is so much more useful in multiplayer which is where horn truly shines! Attack Melody 4 has its uses and is comfy but Attack Melodies 3 and 2 are good too!
I think one of those game controller input viewer extension thingy might help alot cuz then we could see everything you press in real time. Like the vid bro thxs.
The biggest issues I have is that some times it seems like even if I roll a monster's attack ( or just out of the way), even a neutral recital just comes out slow enough that I get nabbed by the follow up attack, or I'll roll out of the way, and for some reason the hunter just goes slowly through the recovery animation to change directions. I'm sure both are because I'm dodging at bad angles, but it gets frustrating when fighting super fast monsters like Rajang who have very tight openings.
what you want to do more often than not is to avoid attacks without dodging by spacing so you can get attacks more often, HH also has decent range meaning while a monster is in the middle of its attack you may get a hit in, quick sheathe so you can go from holding the horn -> running very fast helps this.
What's your advice on rotations? For instance, I'm trying to hunt Black Diablos with Glass Royale. Am I just going to go for situational moves and then do my 3x encores when I get a KO or Paralysis procs?
I'm super late in this but if you get a ko or flinch shot, if you need a song back up then aim for the song. If you want damage then right swing and spin the horn, or if you want to save sharpness, right swing, super pound, play any song.
The first application of buffs to the team i will be a Corner Horner, and then for the rest of the battle I will be in the mix. I prioritize ensuring the buffs are applied asap without interruption and with their encore too which takes forever.
Nice!! I’m new to MHW. Started off with LBG. It was fun, but after a while (20h) I feel that it’s underpowered. Moved on to hammer. What a fun weapon. I love yo unga bunga, but the thing that annoys me is the short reach. After another 20h, I tried lance. It has completely different mechanics. It feels great to block/counter the monster attack, but it’s pretty repetitive, and there’s no heavy hitting attack like hammer. After a while (another 20h) I got bored with it. I decided to give hunting horn a try because I read that it is an underrated weapon. Man oh man what did I miss. It’s like hammer, but with long reach. It still has that hard hitting satisfying attack like hammer (though not as much), while having a long reach, making it easier to hit the monsters. The damage is respectable despite being a ‘support’ weapon. There’s no combo. I can hit the gold swing without having to do combo like with hammer. That’s a plus for me. That spin to win yeah! All the buffs are just the cherry on top. So yeah, I’m a proud hunting hammer main. I still use lance and hammer from time to time, but most of the time I’m using hunting horn and still trying to get better.
This video might genuinely get me playing HH once I finally get back into MHWI... hmm 🤔 Would be interested to see how HH deals with a) odogaron/ebony odo, and b) something that tends to fly a lot, like blue/silver rath or (yuck) kushala
Nice guide! Thank you. Any recommendations for story progressing? Tried the Glavenus horn for Velkhana. Might not have been the smartesd idea after doing the base game story with hammer and using the switch axe for Iceborne till this point.
I came into this game 2 weeks ago for the firs time as a hammer bro because i wanted to go bonk. Then I discovered I can go bonk and doot doot. The doot doot is superior for sheer enjoyment purposes. thank you for the guide good sir.
Also, I keep trying to use the impact echo but my left trigger keeps bringing up the sling instead and its tricky for me to actually pull it off- im wondering if I messed up a sling setting or if its a timing issue
After coming back to World I decided to learn the hunting horn finally after always being interested in it. I'll always be a chad blade main at heart, but I'm looking to add a second flavor of swag to my arsenal. What better choice than the hunting horn? So far it's a bit tough but fun as hell when you pull off songs/encores mid battle while slamming the monster at the same time.
Hello! Just got the game this weekend for pc and I liked the concept of this weapon. Would you recommend doing controller vs kb&m? Or would it be okay to do kb&m
Hey man appreciate the guide, but you did not explain several basic things about the hunting horn which you assumed the watcher would know. I came here knowing literally nothing about HH and didn't really know about how songs are queued, I had no idea what Encore is and how it happens and took me a while to undestand what you are explaining and showcasing.
This was my first monster hunter game and I went solo all the way to MR 100 playing lance, my evading skills are null, I counter every roar, slur, tail or claw sent my way. I will say that the game I'm playing doesn't seem require half the proficiency as what you displayed against nargacuga, I just brawled him like a brute, cut off his tail and dumped on his corpse.
This video is great! ...but I don't have Iceborne yet so I'm not sure I can even go into the practice area... It's so stupid that it's not in the base game. Edit: Forgot about the Housekeeper. Found the place.
Hi! Great vid. question: my gama horn does the self imp encore, but i cannot land the encore of att xL or def xL or any other, despite animations completing. am i missing something? do i need to tap the trigger whilst encoring?
I'm not fully sure what you mean. When you play the Attack (L) song, you hit the recital button again to encore it into Attack (XL). Or you can just load up 2 Attack (L) songs in your song cue and play both of them to get Attack (XL)
@@phantom-boogie Unsure, you hit the notes to match the song, you play the song, after the song finished and you get the buff, you hit the recital button again and you will swing the weapon again to encore it and buff it again
Important questions: Are you exclusive HH user? I ask you because my first MH game was RISE and my experience using HH in that game was amazing. Now I started MHW but I feel lost using HH in this game. I need help and I will need it with MH wilds 🙆🏾♂️
I main both Longsword and Hunting Horn. HH was the first time I explored a different weapon and I first learned it on this game. Hopefully most if not all of your questions were answered in the video
6:38 EVERYTIME I ASK THIS QUESTION I NEVER GET A STRAIGHT ANSWER! HOOOOW do you do vertical horn?? And please, for anyone not sure, I’d rather you not add to the confusion. HH users only, because I’ve had enough of the “half answers” already…
Pretty much what they said. Depending on what move/direction you do before playing a song can cause different animations. If you hilt stab then play a song, you will swing it up, if you forward swing or super pound the forward recital, you will kick your horn up.
@BraffyDaff I feel like I'm the only one who didn't enjoy the spinning attack lol. It was really good for damage but I didn't think it looked as cool spamming it for damage 😅
i started playing hunting horn from icebourne i got bored with longsword and i switch and never look back. I believe i love the spinning attack because i learnt it so late in icebourne so i got all the way to Alatreon without never using the attack and alatreon frustrated me so much i started mashing buttons but when i saw the move it was a eureka moment and i swear you had to do some combo to pull it off didnt realise all you needed to do was press LT after a move. I didnt played rise because i saw how the horn look and played and didnt think i would enjoyed it but Monster Hunter Wilds look promising love the content keep it up
Uno, your guide video looks great but is for PS player, the think is I watch your videos many times and the melodies is completelly different in Pc. Sorry for my english.
It could be your hunting horn is different. Each horn has different melodies and songs. Other wise each console/PC just has different button inputs. I only know some of the buttons for Playstation in collation with Xbox.
Pretty good, now I don't think it out damages a lot of weapons but I think a skilled Hunting Horn player can out damage some weapons and faster clear times.

I might make a second video of me hunting a Rajang with the Hunting Horn
So inspired to try the horn, making a new character in world to just to main hunting horn instead of ls
Really good video with a lot of hidden tech I had no clue about! If I may ask what hh would be good for taking on stygian zinogre?
A thunder hh so like normal zinorge
Honestly, a blight negation horn would do wonders so you don't have to worry about dragon blight so much. If you are running an element horn.
Just got the game and this is gonna be super helpful! Thanks!
I still use lance and hammer from time to time, but most of the time I’m using hunting horn and still trying to get better.
hell yeah my hunting horn brothers! we need more horn users if only hammer users knew what they were missing out on
Amazing guide i would love to See alot more HH Players who go for damage
This video might genuinely get me playing HH once I finally get back into MHWI... hmm 🤔
Would be interested to see how HH deals with a) odogaron/ebony odo, and b) something that tends to fly a lot, like blue/silver rath or (yuck) kushala
wind pressure negated so theres that, back swing acts like a dunk ig, but flying monsters arent too bad ig?
Nice guide! Thank you. Any recommendations for story progressing? Tried the Glavenus horn for Velkhana. Might not have been the smartesd idea after doing the base game story with hammer and using the switch axe for Iceborne till this point.
Glavenus is what I used I believe, but if you are learning the Hunting Horn, maybe practice on things a bit easier and work your way up to that.
Great guide👍. I feel like it's going to take me forever to get good with HH, lol.
You can only spin the horn immediately after doing any other swing. Other wise you will just aim your slinger
The grifted. Thats a cool name. I lerned it by the name Q.T.A.B.S (or the quick turn around back slam)
Thanks Uno… I still have a lot of practice to do
Ive bern running hh for the last 3 years.
Horn maestro
Max evade extender
Max evade window
Max mushroomancer
4 point slugger
Health regen augment
Evade window is goated for HH. Besides Horn Maestro i always run it on my builds.
What does mushroomsmancer do?
@@samueldavidbatistaruiz7510 if you get it to level 3, consuming madragora gives the effect of a max potion.
Lol mushroommancer is never a must have
After coming back to World I decided to learn the hunting horn finally after always being interested in it. I'll always be a chad blade main at heart, but I'm looking to add a second flavor of swag to my arsenal. What better choice than the hunting horn? So far it's a bit tough but fun as hell when you pull off songs/encores mid battle while slamming the monster at the same time.
A fellow Chad Blader turned HH enthusiast! 🔥
@@Etherkai 💪 Proudly adding to the ranks of the HH army brother.
Perfect video.
HH v kushala tips welcomed
Hello! Just got the game this weekend for pc and I liked the concept of this weapon. Would you recommend doing controller vs kb&m? Or would it be okay to do kb&m
Nice guide man ❤
I LOVE YOU Jideon ♥️
Hey man appreciate the guide, but you did not explain several basic things about the hunting horn which you assumed the watcher would know. I came here knowing literally nothing about HH and didn't really know about how songs are queued, I had no idea what Encore is and how it happens and took me a while to undestand what you are explaining and showcasing.
Whoops 😅 glad you eventually knew what I was talking about.
Great guide i plan on going through the game with just HH lol
This was helpful
Thank you for this guide
Thank u so much for this vid
Great video
This was my first monster hunter game and I went solo all the way to MR 100 playing lance, my evading skills are null, I counter every roar, slur, tail or claw sent my way. I will say that the game I'm playing doesn't seem require half the proficiency as what you displayed against nargacuga, I just brawled him like a brute, cut off his tail and dumped on his corpse.
Honestly, I just use Evade Window to help with my dodging because I'm not consistent with i framing things.
@@Uno_Hunter Considering how miniscule are the s, that takes quite some skill.
Hunting horn my beloved ❤️❤️
I’m finally getting a song in my bones (and raw damage,)
Raging brachi with HH guide pls! The only roadblock I encountered in post game
@PuppetMaster10100 Be on the look out later, I'm going to try and go live to teach hunting horn tech and match ups
I wanna get back into world but I have to re-re-learn the weapon after unlearning it in rise
This video is great!
...but I don't have Iceborne yet so I'm not sure I can even go into the practice area... It's so stupid that it's not in the base game.
Edit: Forgot about the Housekeeper. Found the place.
You can there’s just some features you can’t do, talk to the housekeeper cat in your room
It is in the base game, I’m sure 🤨
I played horns for HOURS and I didn't know about the secret note...
Hi! Great vid. question: my gama horn does the self imp encore, but i cannot land the encore of att xL or def xL or any other, despite animations completing. am i missing something? do i need to tap the trigger whilst encoring?
I'm not fully sure what you mean. When you play the Attack (L) song, you hit the recital button again to encore it into Attack (XL). Or you can just load up 2 Attack (L) songs in your song cue and play both of them to get Attack (XL)
@@Uno_Hunter but i do! And then loads the whole thing, flashes white a few times. And no effect. Should i be tapping the recital button during encore?
@@phantom-boogie Unsure, you hit the notes to match the song, you play the song, after the song finished and you get the buff, you hit the recital button again and you will swing the weapon again to encore it and buff it again
@@Uno_Hunter forget about it. Just went to train and learnt that the first half of the encore triggers it.
I saw you play onchord or recital? Play the song will turn highlights green right? Then you press what button to go purple? Recital again?
@amreenhakim6567 purple means that it has been encored "or that it has been played twice" so Attack up L, while it's purple means it is Attack Up XL
subscribed for the monster hunter iceborne content.
Me a hunting horn Main since tri watching this for Absolut no reason at All 😭💀
It is nice to have someone to relate 😂😂😂😂 HH LET'S GO!!!
And Hamer to
...............did you change your name........again??????
No!?
It must be a Error 😂
Hey quick question on the secret note. Is that a DLC thing, or do only certain hunting horns have it?
The move where you spin the horn on the ground? That's the DLC move and all horns have it.
Charge blade: "Im the most technical weapon in the game!"
Hunting Horn: *Hear my chords*
Hey what about the Shara horn? If anything I really like the look of that thorn.
I think it's ok. I mostly didn't use it because of the low sharpness but if you like it, definitely use it.
@@Uno_Hunter ahhh okay that you for the impute.
8:39 If you hilt stab and then recital it swings up. Hope that is what you mean.
Sorry it’s actually at 8:30
Pretty much what they said. Depending on what move/direction you do before playing a song can cause different animations. If you hilt stab then play a song, you will swing it up, if you forward swing or super pound the forward recital, you will kick your horn up.
Have you done one of these for rise?
Not yet sadly
Aww
i hate that they remove the echo attack spinning move from Monster Hunter Wild 😭
I didnt played rise because i saw how the horn look and played and didnt think i would enjoyed it but Monster Hunter Wilds look promising love the content keep it up
You are awesome
wait how do you choose which queued song to play first
It should be in the music section, probably around the 5 minute mark
word thanks man@@Uno_Hunter
Soloing monsters with HH is not any different from any other weapon. Every weapon is designed so you can kill everything with it even solo
Teach us to dodge like that too 👉👈
That mostly boils down to learning the timing of attacks which only experience can help with those skills.
MH is such a Playstation series to me that seeing Xbox feels like a minor heresy
what horn is that? looks like a pretty cracked song list
I believe this was my Safi Jiiva horn that I layered with Kulve and changed the song list
@@Uno_Hunter oh i didn’t know you could change the song list
@jakew2897 You can with Safi Jiiva HH when you do that special augment. You can only select from a preset of songs though
The biggest issue of the hunting horn is that the people I get matched with are not worth buffing
My daughter deleted my save file!!!!!!!!! Lost everything might have to start again just using HH
Dude what a shame!!
I would have thrown up.
What is the damage like for the weapon
Pretty good, now I don't think it out damages a lot of weapons but I think a skilled Hunting Horn player can out damage some weapons and faster clear times.
