The best review of the Ridgeline I've seen. My wife and I (this is her TH-cam account; I don't have one) bought this exact model in September (we added a canopy) and could not be more pleased. It is exactly the truck we need. We don't tow anything; we don't put thousands of pounds in the bed. We don't rock-crawl. The Honda is the most sophisticated pickup you can buy. It is unsurpassed in comfort and after 14 years and two generations it still has many unique and very handy features not offered on any other truck. Like you I have nothing against full-size pickups (I quite like the F-150), but we didn't need something with those capabilities.

I didn’t like these things until I realized I did more truck stuff in my 2008 Honda Fit than 99% of non-commercial f150s. This truck is perfect for the vast majority of people that just need a vehicle that is capable of moving some furniture and towing a small trailer (if that). They definitely drive better than a regular truck. I also think these are more reliable than the American half ton trucks.

Honda Ridgeline, truck so convenient that even the bed has a trunk

I prefer the 1st gen Ridgeline for a few reasons but good luck finding a decent one for a good price.

I just bought the 2020 Sport trim, and I completely agree with you that it is all the truck I will want, in Central Illinois. I’m a Toyota fan, because I like my dealer. I love the looks of Chevrolet, Colorado, but I needed car seats room, and love the bed trunk! Can’t find fault in the gas mileage either! Very happy with my purchase! Also like the other midsized trucks, just don’t need their qualifications!

How's it holding up? I'm toyota guy myself. I have highlander but looking to a all around pickup that can handle family and weekend house projects. It will be daily driven. That's where a full size is out the picture.

I would honestly never own one of these, but I have to admit it's hard to say there's not a place for it. Truck ownership in the past was mainly for utilitarian purposes; for the "working man". Over the past couple decades trucks have risen up to hold value to people in luxury and status. Most people who can afford an $80,000 truck don't need it, they want it. There's nothing wrong with that, but so many people own trucks not for their utilitarian purposes but because it proves there manliness or that they're some hard workin' farm boy that they're not. Funnily enough, this truck would probably be the most practical thing for them. It's okay to not like something, but you have to have better reason then saying "it's not a real truck" because you a self conscious about your level of manliness and you need to compensate for it. I give props to people who actually buy this thing because they at least don't care about what others think and it suits them well. They're not the crazy, brand loyalist that puts one thing in the back of their truck a month that so many truck owners have become. Once again, there's nothing wrong with liking trucks for other reasons than them being useful, but some just need to chill out haha

I second this. The Ridgeline could be absolutely perfect for someone, but so many people like to gatekeep for no good reason. Honestly the Ridgeline might even be the next step towards brining utes back into states lmao i don’t get the hate

@@jakenoble842 I wish we had utes in The States again man, I just can't see it as they're not "manly" for most truck owners and crossovers dominate the market for everyone else. Shame, I guess it keeps my ute unique though haha

This will be the market as you see other are coming out with unibody like Ridgeline vs Tacoma body on frame.
The Hyundai Santa Cruz and Ford may be a little smaller. But this is great alternative to a Honda Pilot SUV or vehicles like that. If your not going to haul a bunch off people all the time.
Add a hard a Tonneau cover and the versatility and utility gets even better.
You won't mind taking the Ridgeline on a extended long highway trip.

Very Good review. Bought this exact truck yesterday. It's going to be a bit of a challenge to use the push button shifter ( seems like everybody is doing so) after using either an on the column or on the floor configurations for 55 years !

I absolutely hated the ridge line when it first came out years ago but it would be tough between choosing this and a Tacoma but considering how crazy Toyota Tacoma prices are this would be a pretty easy pick for me if I were in the market. Especially with that tailgate

Fantastic review, one of the best I've seen however I live in the country and it's still all the truck I need. Traded in my Silverado for a 2020, white Black Edition, put a leveling kit on it, traded stock tires for some BFG's, skid plate and it's off to the boondocks. Most of our trips only involve off roading on active and decommissioned forestry roads but in those applications, the Ridgeline actually outperforms my Silverado. Because I live in the mountains of BC most of our forestry roads involve alot of elevation changes and as a result the washboard a nightmare. The Silverado would feel as though it would shake apart, alot of unsprung weight and solid axles will do that, the Ridgeline's independent suspension and low unsprung weight makes the washboard literally disappear. Life changing for me and the beer filled cooler in the box. Decommissioned roads have ditches dug into them to keep vehicles out but Ive yet to be deterred with the 1.5 inch leveling kit. The all wheel drive system has alot of options and because we get alot of clay mud I tend to crab walk fairly often and with a touch of a button youre in a mode that turns off the traction control and you can spin the wheels all you want without the computer telling you what to do. You said it all about how easy it is to live with in the city as well but for me, you didn't make a big enough deal on how easy these are to park. Had to back into everything with my Silverado, with the Ridgeline you drive straight in like an SUV, makes life so much easier. Then there's the key for me, I own a quad and prefer to carry it in the bed as opposed to bringing my trailer, Honda reverse engineered the size of the bed to fit a honda quad, mines a 2 up artic cat but it fits and no other smaller pick up on the market can say that. Combine all that with Honda reliability resale, and the fact that it fits in a normal sized garage, it really is all the truck I need.

Not everyone needs a truck for offroading. With a lower ground clearance, this is good for people who don't want a truck so high they need climbing gear just to get into the seat. The only problem is the price, which is not very friendly.
