  • The 2020 Honda Ridgeline is known for its versatility, blending comfort and utility in a way that many competitors struggle to match. The truck offers a smooth ride, thanks to its unibody construction and independent rear suspension, which set it apart from traditional body-on-frame trucks. Beyond its comfortable ride, the Ridgeline features a spacious and well-designed interior, packed with innovative storage options and user-friendly technology. The truck bed includes a unique in-bed trunk and available audio system, perfect for tailgating or camping adventures. Additionally, the Ridgeline's V6 engine provides plenty of power for everyday driving and light towing, making it more than capable for weekend trips or daily commutes. With a suite of advanced safety features and Honda's reputation for reliability, the 2020 Ridgeline is an excellent choice for those seeking a versatile and dependable vehicle. Its all-wheel-drive capabilities enhance off-road performance, making it a solid option for those who enjoy outdoor activities or frequently drive on unpaved roads. The Ridgeline's intuitive infotainment system includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, ensuring that drivers remain connected and entertained on the go. Furthermore, its advanced climate control system and premium materials used in the cabin ensure passengers ride in comfort regardless of the journey's duration. For those looking for a truck that combines practicality with modern conveniences, the 2020 Honda Ridgeline stands out as a leader in its class.

    Not everyone NEEDS a full duty truck, with it's pluses and minuses. I could use a pick up bed from time to time, but would like the ride and handling of a suv. This fits the bill perfectly. Thanks for the detailed review, very helpful.

    The Ridgeline is perfect for suburban outdoor enthusiasts. For those into fishing, hunting, camping, hiking, etc., a full size gas hog isn't a necessity.
    I believe Honda would do itself and buyers a favor if they offered an off-road package. Something that offers a factory 2" lift with 265/65R18 tires (that seems to be the size of aftermarket kits) and off-road settings that allow locking the center and rear differentials.

      Brother this is an understatement. I would go buy one of these right now if that was an option. Kind of like a larger subaru baja. It would need to msrp lower than a frontier and way lower than a tacoma. Base trim would be ideal.

    Great review! I have a 2017 Ridgeline Touring and I learned a few things I did not know my Ridgeline could do. I am always surprised that the American version of the top of the line Ridgeline does not have features that come standard on the top of the line Canadian Ridgeline..(Touring) (excluding the Black Edition although even the American Black Edition does not have all the features of the Canadian Touring Edition) The Canadian Touring Edition has 1. signal lights on the mirrors, 2. power folding mirrors, 3. HVAC controls on the back of the centre console for the rear passengers, 4. Heated front and BACK seats and COOLED front seats, 5. a CD player. and is about $1000.00 less expensive. I don't understand why Americans are not being given these features.

    I just bought a 2021 sport two weeks ago. The new 9 speed transmission takes some getting used to and the adaptive cruise doesn't hold speed well on grades but dang this TRUCK which is what it is drives better than any trucking I've ever owned, hauls whatever I need it to and I can even tow. It handles well and it is a Honda.

    I used to sell Hondas and actually led the district in Ridgeline sales a few times. I would sell them by being honest, almost always I'd say something like. "I'm from Central California and all my family are farmers they would never drive this truck because they need more from a truck every day than this can give. But for the average person that just needs to throw some stuff in the bed tow a small trailer tow a little jet ski anything like that, an all-wheel drive Ridgeline is perfect. You won't find a better ride and the cabin is comparable to a pilot, it's the truck for people that don't need a truck everyday." Usually the dual function tailgate and locking in bed storage pretty much sold itself. It was easy to sell against the Colorado and frontier The only real challenge was trying to sell it against Tacoma.

    • @TwoGuysandaRide
      @TwoGuysandaRide  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Thanks for sharing. I agree trying to sell it against the Tacoma would be a tough sell but it would be interesting to see a hard-core truck person who needed the off-road versatility of a Tacoma actually come in to compare a Ridgeline. Thanks for watching

    • @richardjones1988
      @richardjones1988 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The secret I found to selling against the Tacoma was that the husband always wanted a Tacoma and the wife would want an SUV typically so I would convince the wife that this is basically a pilot with a truck bed and the husband would go with it just to get a new truck. This happened more than once, But honestly they're both great vehicles. I feel like if you are into tech or comfort the Honda is a better choice if you just want a truck that feels like a truck and drives like a truck obviously the Tacoma is for you.

    • @TwoGuysandaRide
      @TwoGuysandaRide  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@richardjones1988 agreed. I see the Tacoma as more of an off-road rough and tumble truck and the Ridgeline as the comfortable every day use vehicle that can also handle your Home Depot or Costco runs as needed.

Also Honda built in a fail safe underneath the tail gate there is a key slot/cover you can remove. Pull on cable to unlock gate if it ever does not unlock with the power locks.

      The landscape supply company nearby uses a 1.5 cubic yard front loader. Positioned diagonally, all of the compost/mulch fits without any overspill. I even level it with a garden rake to keep the wind from catching in the wind, still no product overspill. This is very helpful and also boasts the largest-in-class short-box (64 cubic feet), which is a reasonable compromise for not offering a long-box upgrade like Ranger or Tacoma. I appreciate the 4’x8’: plywood, drywall, paneling, and foam board all fitting flush to the bed’s deck for stability and less worrisome in terms of not sliding out. The in-bed trunk is brilliant and one of my most used features for runs to Sam’s Club, Costco, Publix, Walmart, Lowe’s, Home Depot, Pike Nursery, and etc... If it was available, I’d be willing to pay for an upgrade option to have an insulated trunk and insulated trunk lid to hold a more stable temperature.

    Looking at one of these for HVAC service work. Need the AWD and ground clearance for no-heat call outs in bad winter weather, gravel, less maintained roads. Need the storage pace for tools and parts, but can live without a rolling storeroom on a full size van like a Transit. The rear seat folded up would afford a lot of rom for tools and parts. We live in a rural area, so a comfortable, quiet vehicle would be a huge bonus. On top of all of these, used prices are similar to other midsized and far less than full sized trucks.
    For utility. The bed is plenty big for a 36” AC condenser still boxed and a furnace. The bed isn’t;t much smaller than the Chevy Silverado we have now.

      Not many people think its a real truck. I own a '17 RTL AWD with Truxxx leveling kit and Bfg Ko2 tires. More than enough truck for me. I rarely tow anything. Just needing an open bed to haul things to the dump. Fits in my garage backwads with ease. Multi camera especially backing up. (Wide angle for backing up from grocery stores & target/walmart. AWD launches beats any 4WD 100 times especially in the rain.

    The info entertainment screen is plastic , not glass and it really shows the fingerprints. It might pay to keep a cloth in the cubby to wipe that screen now and then. I noticed a switch or something directly behind the light in the rear seat. Would that be a switch for rear passengers to turn the light on or off ? It's time for me to trade. I currently have a 2004 Toyota Tacoma 4DR SR5 pre-runner with 126,700 miles on it and it appears to be increasing in value. Always serviced at my local Toyota dealership. ( oversize tires , alinements , tire rotation , oil & filters , Etc. ). My plan is to purchase a Honda RTL-E during the last two weeks of December this year or the First week in January. ( Any Suggestions ? ). I am doing a wide search from Gainesville, FL south to Tampa and also East to Orlando. My Questions: How can you determine the manufactures date in the Honda Ridgeline VIN number ? Most dealers include the vin number in their ad's on their web sites and I have read that after 60 - 90 days on their lots they are more motivated to sell that vehicle. - Should I trade or Sell out right ? - I've been told not to mention that I am paying cash. Is that a good Idea ? With the 2021 Ridgeline's arriving in December I should be able to get a good deal .... RIGHT ? One Dealer has already marked the same color RTL-E down $4000 . Last question How can I find out what the dealership paid for the vehicle ? ( Is it the same for all RTL-E's ? ) ---- LOVE YOUR VIDEO ---- YOU GUYS ARE OF THE AGE GROUP THAT SPEAKS TO THE SAME GROUP -- THANKS

      Thanks for the questions and the kind words, we appreciate it! To answer your first question the little item you saw behind the dome lights in the rear, is a little speaker grill. It looks like it would be for a microphone (like you have in the front for use with voice command or talking on your phone through the cars system) but in fact it is just a "dummy" button meaning there is nothing hooked to it. My best guess is that Honda might have put it there for a future item they are planning on adding at a later date. In short, to my knowledge (and the Honda dealership) it has no functionality. We'll follow up shortly on answering your other questions. Thanks for watching!

    • @TwoGuysandaRide
      @TwoGuysandaRide  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Ok in terms of reading the manufacture year from the VIN number, that should be the 10th letter in the VIN and basically "A"=1980 and "Y"=2000, then it switches to numbers so "1"=2001 and "9" =2009, and then it starts over using letters again so now "A"=2010 and "M"=2021. You can also look at the manufacture sticker in the drivers door and the month and year of manufacture will be on the top of the sticker somewhere.
      Should you trade or sell, well in general you get more for your car if you sell it outright, I'd suggest looking up the Bluebook value of your vehicle and when you do that it will be able to show you the trade in value, plus the value if you sell it outright. One thing to consider is that dealers are searching for good used cars to put on their lots for sale, so you might get a really good deal trading in.
      Should you mention your paying cash, well in general I wouldn't tip my hand to the dealer, but do dealers give cash incentives (say $500) off the price for paying cash...some do, but that discount (if its available) will still be available to you whether or not you told the dealer prior to getting the price set that you where paying cash. I guess I'm trying to say, telling the dealer your paying cash does not give you an advantage in my mind, but might give you a disadvantage, but it's a personal choice.
      In general when a dealer gets new redesigned cars/trucks in, the old ones can be picked up at a discounted price, however some factors to think about here, 1, Dealers are having a hard time keeping inventory up during covid, which can tend to keep up the price of used cars, and 2, the Ridgeline while an excellent choice for a vehicle, also holds its resale value. Hope this has been helpful. thanks for watching and don't forget to subscribe!

      @@TwoGuysandaRide Thanks for your advise. I have been told that the longer a vehicle sits on the lot the more eager they will be to deal on it. I have also been told the best time to buy / trade is the last two weeks in December or the First week in January because of SALES QUOTAS and SLOW SALES during Christmas and New Years. I am collecting cars listing showing the VIN numbers on the RTL-E's so when I am ready to start dealing with several dealers , I hope to confirm the car I am interested in is still on their lot and dealing via the computer is a lot easier and saves a lot of driving. I don't care to be tag teamed by a couple of sales people . ( That happened at a Toyota Dealership and I got up and walked out ). I hope to make it clear that each dealer has one shot at my business and will E-mail me their ROCK BOTTOM , OUT the DOOR , TAX , Tag and TITLE included in the Selling price. I have noticed that several dealers have 8 or more 2020 Ridgeline's currently and the 2021 Ridgeline's will be arriving in December. I would hope the sales people will be hungry for a sale. Also One dealer states " No SALES Commission " Prices are clearly marked on the windshields . Other Dealers are offering Life time Limited Warranties . ( Are these Gimmicks ? ) After watching your Video I am totally sold on the RTL-E . Love the Blue , White , Silver , Dark Gray or Pewter . I would rather have a Gray or light colored interior over black but would take the truck that gives me the best deal .
      Can you explain to me why KBB , Edmunds , Nada all have different fair market values on the same truck . Do most dealers still use the little
      yellow NADA book to determine trade in value ? One Last Question. Would it be better to deal on a 2021 or the 2020 ? I don't see much
      difference in them.

    • @TwoGuysandaRide
      @TwoGuysandaRide  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'd think that dealing on a 2020 would yield you a better deal since they are now technically one model year old even sitting on the lot. Dealers pay "floor plan" money when a vehicle sits on their lot so naturally the faster they sell them the less money they pay out to the mfg or bank. Finding a vehicle that you want thats been on the lot a long time helps in the deal. Also KBB, Edmunds, NADA all use a different metrics to determine Fair Market Value. Besides, a real fair market deal is subjective being that what the consumer pays is what the data is derived from. So one group of dealers may have higher profit sales and another may have medium profit on each vehicle so those numbers all go int the mix for the FMV data. Bottom line is, the deal you are happy with on the vehicle you want is the only real metric that matters. After its the money from your pocket that counts not what someone else paid.

      Thanks for the SUB and welcome to the channel! I know there was lots of chatter online about the Honda 9 speed a few years ago. Especially in the Pilot. I know Honda has done some software updates and fine tuning and I haven't heard any complaints of issues with the 9 speed in a long while. I'd imagine that the Ridgeline followed suit and received the same fine tuning. As for when we drove it, the engine and transmission were very responsive and no lag was noticed. In fact it had very smooth shifts to match its great ride. Personally, I'm looking to get one myself and I think you should as well. With all of the vehicles that we test, the Ridgeline is still my Overall Best Vehicle for all types of uses. Thanks for watching!

    • @TwoGuysandaRide

      Honda simply states the the throttle responses will be smoother and the transmission shifts are recalibrated but they don't give any specific mileage numbers or percentage to what the Econ button can actually save you in Money or increase in your MPG. I guess it's assumed that less aggressive driving results in great MPG's and Honda's Econ button serves as a damper on aggressive driving tendencies. Thanks for the question and thanks for watching.

    I've owned a 2020 for 3 months now; the cupholders and door trays suck. The hard plastic makes everything rattle. The adaptive cruise control is dangerous! It doesn't "see" small vehicles and can negate the distancing between vehicles. The Collision avoidance system is crap; I get "BRAKE" warnings from 2 lane traffic all the time, it's worthless. I've had the brake mngt system slam on brakes when another vehicle is making a left turn in the left turn lane. It's dangerous!

      I just seen an S-10 in traffic, and it reminded me why I bought the Ridgeline. And that goes for the Ranger, also. Good trucks, but strictly for work, run them into the ground, and get another. Love my Ridgeline Sport! Everything I need for my Retirement shopping, and all weather driving conditions. Mileage like some automobiles, but big enough to fit what you buy from Home Depot. Nice being able to carry gasoline outside of the cab. Got room in the back for 3 car seats, since we have to keep them in car seats for so long. And did I mention comfort! I could drive this vehicle all day, while enjoying the Sound system. Quite enough to engage in a conversation that’s understandable. Love the 9 speed gear transmission, so smooth, that it takes the aggressiveness out of my driving, which gives me better mileage, and safer driving. Not very often is something good for you, and FUN too!

      Carlos Lopez my task is to show each vehicle’s attributes. The Ridgeline definitely checks lots of boxes for people not looking for a traditional body on frame pick up truck. I agree that it’s outside the norm of what the big three auto makers produce as “trucks” but there’s no argument that Honda has filled a niche and in the truck segment. Yes they don’t sell hundreds of thousands of them each year, but they do have a steady sales history and they, like more traditional trucks hold their resale value. In the end, a vehicle has to match the consumers needs and Honda like Chevy, Ford and Ram has built a vehicle to meet the demands of their customers.
