  • This one lives in my van- it’s come to my rescue several times over the years when out gigging, as well as being a fantastic companion in the studio, where all you’ve got is a tape machine or hard disk recorder...
    The sounds really do stack up with modern equipment, and there’s an important thing to remember here:
    Electric Guitar Sounds are Subjective.
    The variables are massive: the player, the plectrum, the strings, the pickups, the guitar, the amp, the room, the mic, the EQ, the...the...the......

    I'm planning to buy another one having already owned two. It has an excellent clean tone and with a loop pedal and recorder a person can stack sounds on different tracks and mix it into something totally unique. Also like the real time adjustment of parameters and amps and tone. I found 3 for sale at a local store for $50 a piece... excellent gear

    Perfect anti-gear-snobbery video. There is much older gear out there that is worth a second look these days. I wish I'd kept my old POD and Korg Pandora boxes for the hell of it but needed the $ and was hell bent on having "the next biggest thing". All the gear and no idea :) Happy New Year.

    What a handy little pedal for having fun and for exploring different sounds, inexpensive too!
    This sounded better, at least to me, than the L6 Pod 2.0 I had. Many thanks for the demo. 👍👍

    I still have 2 of these and a V-Ampire Head; use them all the time. After years of tweaking and understanding the different output modes these things can sound really good for super cheap money. And you still get to use real knobs instead of menus!

    I bought a V-Amp 2 eight years ago or so. Bought a second one for my son a month later. I just bought the V-Amp 3 just yesterday. For the price, I love those things. Dan really dialed it in nicely - great demo. I'd just like to add that using the "V-Amp 2 Design 2.03" or "V-Amp 3 Design 3.0" software and communicating via a two-way MIDI connection really gives an unexpected level of configuration.

    Great and Positive Review! I must reluctantly say/admit, that i used the V-Amp2 for a lot of my studio-gigs as a session player. Although mostly thru a tube power amp & 4x12" cabinet for a little more Punch when recording.

    So sentimental about except I own V-Amp Pro rack version. Good ol' times. I rebought it after about dozen years and still enjoy it as long as the lame cabinet sims are off. This unit still holds up these days however I heard V-Amp Pro got a better processor and it's less laggy or maybe even less noisy

    • @DanBakerMusic

      All that stuff gets better with time and tech advances, and yes, while the cabs are a bit vague, you can get sounds out of it that you don’t get elsewhere...

  • @bohmao

    I bought one of these a few weeks ago and am very impressed with the sounds available. However I have one major problem and that is that I cannot figure out how to turn off the presets and just use the basic controls for the amps and effects. According to the manual the unit always loads the last preset used when you switch it on but I just want it to start without doing that or be able to exit from this. I can't find anything in the manual and I even downloaded the manual for the V Amp 3 in the hope that this would give me a clue but couldn't find any help there either. Am I missing something or is it just not possible to do this? Also, I cannot find anywhere from which I can download the Behringer Designer software. I did download what I thought was the software but when I unzipped the file it just contained some image files but not the actual Designer program.

    still have mine. Just not interested in learning something else. Great for what i do. Due to time limitations, and frustration with my guitar staying in tune for a second rhythm track, i only record a single rhythm track. I add a touch of chorus, and it fills up the space beautifully. When the solo comes around, 15E 😜 The internal battery is dead, so if i want to save a setting, i just write it down. Or, keep it plugged in. I'm so familiar with it, i'm starting to memorize settings.

    I've got one of these. You can get a pretty good sound with a minimal of tweaking.
    I know I've got the software for this somewhere, lol. Makes it even easier to edit, when connected to a computer. However, there's something about just tweaking...
    I'm not too keen on digital effects, but I think Behringer did a really good job on this. I've always felt that the power connector is kind of a weak point. Minor quibble. It came with a carrying case, and a foot pedal to change patch locations up or down, and all for a reasonable price. Now you can find these for $60.00...well, the last time I looked, anyway, lol

    • @DanBakerMusic
      @DanBakerMusic  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is cool, but yes, the power connector...they also changed it during the production life span of these, so if you need a new one, you have to be careful to get the right one!

    • @mdu2112
      @mdu2112 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also, leave the cable plugged in the V-Amp. Disconnecting from the wall socket will prolong the connector's life. I believe electrical arching is the cause of connector pin degradation.

    or all you can found right now are high end stuff like Helix and Kemper?

    Hello Dan, thanks for the video. I saw one of these in a thrift store but it doesn't have the power adaptor. It seems to be a really uncommon 13v 5 pin connector (looks like an old PC keyboard connector). I live in south America and getting a replacement from the US or Canada may be prohibitively expensive. Do you know if anything else uses that kind of connector other than Behringer products? How common is it? I would really appreciate it if you could help me out because it is cheap and it has all that I need to record my first demo. There are other similar digitech pedal amp sims in the store that use 9v but they're out of my budget. My other alternative is an ammoon Rockpock which costs about the same new, but the Vamp just has so many more features. The eq, the noise gate, all the outputs, etc.

    • @DanBakerMusic
      @DanBakerMusic  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You have to be very careful to find the right supply for this. They can be bought, but you also have to check the date code on the unit, as there were different power supplies during the life span of production. Thanks for watching!

    I've had one of these for ages. Got it back when I used to use my solid body Washburn acoustic a lot more than i do now. Now I'm harping mostly, and I've been trying to play this through the V-Amp. Sounds great live, but trying to record with it - there's so much noise. Got a EHX Silencer, but the attack and sustain works so differently on guitar to harp that it just won't work. It will only silence the whole thing if there's no other noise, and on a harp that's a rare thing. It's still a solid body harp. Tweaking the knobs and trying out either 2-cable or 4-cable set-up. No joy. Just noise. Such as shame. What do you do to minimise noise from the V-Amp?

      Try to use the same cabinett simulation in your patches. That reduces the gap when changing from a rythm tone to a lead tone. Also the California clean with the 2x12 V-Amp Custom cab and the Custom Hi Gain with the same cabinett is the fastest Clean to Rythm combination this unit can produce. I have used it for several years and I allways comes back to it. I think I have tried almost every possible combination and I allways return to these two that I mentioned.
      Also. Check for the firmware on the Eprom chip (remove back plate to see it) 2.4 is the latest version and includes the ability to change the input gain and somewhat better switching.
