  • Behringer V-Amp Pro 96kHz or 48kHz Pro Rack Mount on a Budget! with TONE TIPS!! Thank you for stopping by and watching my whole 15 minute video on the V-Amp Pro rack mount virtual amplification system! Just know when you subscribe and leave thumbs up or comments I really do appreciate it! So this unit sounds amazing and its got the secret (Drive 1)Turbo Boost that many didn't know how to dial it in and I show you here. With the Drive on 1 setting this Behringer V-Amp Pro turns into a shred monster pro lead tone dream! I will demo its shred capabilities in video coming soon! The unit is stamped V-Amp Pro virtual amplification. I don't know how this gem of a rack mount was hidden from me. So I found one "cab" on this V-Amp and NO IR NEEDED!! On this V-Amp Pro rack mount it's cabinet ~#5 cab~ Personally I'm an IR hater! I also own the Helix HX Stomp and after searching I found its 1 golden cab as well! As for this V-Amp, I find myself shredding and jamming on this older V-Amp Pro all the time. V-Amp unit on top of a 4x12 cab for "live" shows I really think it would shine!
The knobs have 9 red LED lights Amp---Modern High Gain Cabinet #5 SECRET TIP! Drive Button "Edit" select "Drive 1" choices are 0 and 1 (most people never select Drive 1 and the Drive gets auto 0 selected unless you hold and save this setting on Drive 1) if you don't save preset on Drive 1 Drive 0 is auto selected. Drive 1 activates the units LX-1 VC booster chip and unit is now on Turbo Power! Drive 0 is always auto selected and is normal power, the V-Amp pro has a hardware SRC chip.
(For the demo where I'm playing I had these settings below)
    Gain 3 -- Volume 3 -Bass 3 -- Mid 9 --Treble 2 --Presence 1 Reverb 2.5 --Effects Delay Mix 6 Delay feedback 7
So I did go to L1 on the studio setting and I went ahead and EQ my tone and made slight adjustments. On L1 the BASS---MID---TREBLE knobs become your global EQ knobs for adjusting and fine tuning your lead tone. For the demo where I was playing the "Gain" was on 3 so for ballads and progressive metal leads just bump your "Gain" up to about 5-10 or what ever you prefer.
V-Amp Pro = Much Sound, So Little Hassle
    www.manualslib.com/manual/677...
V-Amp Pro is powered by (Motorola DSP a Symphony 56364 100MIPS/100mHz and paralleled into the LX-1 Pro VC2 virtual amplification and booster chip with 24bit @100db dynamic range. 32 amp selections, 15 cab selections and 16 effects, (cabinet #5) is the very best pro sounding cab on this V-Amp Pro. What I love about the V-Amp Pro the most is its "stand alone DSP rack mount unit" meaning you're not a slave to any firmware updates and I found the golden ~#5 cab~ KILLER! In regards to this V-Amp I would have no problem putting this V-Amp unit on top of a 4x12 cab and doing "live" shows with it along with a nice pedal board, I think its a super cool unit and you just can't bet the price. If you're on a budget and you can live with a limited number of amp & cabs this unit rocks! Particularly if you're into metal or progressive metal as its dynamic range falls well within pro quality standards with its 24bit/48 or 96kHz.
BELOW IS GENERAL INFO and SPECS ON DSP's
    SHARC Processor DSP chip 450mHz
    TigerSHARC DSP chip 600mHz discontinued
    SHARC+ DSP chip 1GHz
The Analog AD/DA Devices "Super Harvard Architecture Single-Chip Computer" (or “SHARC”) is a high performance DSP chip, designed in 1994, the chip capable of addressing an entire 32-bit word, and can implement 64-bit data processing.
    Example
Helix Floor and Rack mount units have dual 2- ADSP-21469 SHARCs at 450MHz.
Regarding Helix dual DSP units, keep in mind that each path (1 and 2) have their own dedicated processor DSP. If you fill up path 1, you've still used up less than 50% of the total available of DSP's power in the unit. So Route path 1 into path 2 with EQ only in that path and you're golden as you'll now have more total DSP power!
    ISG TONE TIPS!
-NOISE GATE---just go up enough on threshold to remove unwanted noise, at higher thresholds it becomes a "tone robber" pulling latency, sustain and power from your tone and attack. I always go as low as I can at 3-7
-PRESENCE---re-routes your guitar signal back through your preamp which boosts your "high gain" frequencies with more distortion/saturation on all 6 strings particularly the G---B---high E strings. A tip for clearer metal/rock lead tone is to lower your presence 1 to 3 20-30 for lead presets. For a punch for more gain in your metal rhythm set your presence at 7 or 70
-INPEDANCE In regards to setting impedance and general rule of thumb, you can manually select from a variety of impedance values from low to
    high (22k, 32k, 70k, 90k, 136k, 230k, 1M, etc). A lower value will typically
result in some high frequency attenuation, lower gain and overall “softer” feel.
A higher value provides full frequency response, higher gain and overall “tighter”
    feel.

Thanks for the vid! I knew all this actually but it was nice to see the appreciation of this classic piece! I recently dug out mine and I have to say the time spend with it is rewarding. Found some 2000+ patches somewhere in case you or anyone wants them!
Now all I need is bass v-amp patches, anyone speak out!

UPDATE! So I did go to L1 on the studio setting and I went ahead and EQ my tone and made slight adjustment after this video. On L1 the BASS---MID---TREBLE become your Global EQ knobs for adjusting to taste.

My live rig is a Rocktron 350 watt stereo guitar power amp going into a Helix Rack into a 350 watt Bugera Turbo Bass 2x12 cabinet in stereo. Terrifyingly loud. I'm talking Mesa Boogie loud. And the turbo bass moves your shirt and pants legs and hits you in the chest. I hardly ever go above 3 at a live gig on the power amp, but if a guitar player wants to get into a volume war with me, he picked the wrong person. I've got headroom above the International Space Station.

Right On! Yes as a lead guitarist who has played live I always made sure the bass player and I were good friends and getting along. lol! They can definitely drown you out if they want to if the volume war starts.

@@IshredGuitar Bass players where I live are more rare than Ethiopian football bats. I don't like to get into volume wars, but ... if I'm going to war I want the equipment necessary to win it. It's better to have and not need than to need and not have. At any rate, I'm equipped to play larger venues where more volume is necessary onstage. Of course, as you know, the cabs or the Helix can go directly to front of house for the crowd, which is controlled by the sound man, which is even more rare where I live than bass players.

I still have the bass version and I find it more useful than the guitar ones since I can also use it for acoustic guitar. I don't think the hidden turbo boost is available for the bass ones?
Anyway you make it sounded good in this video but I found for the same era I prefer Vox Tonelab.

Can this be used with a Marshall cab? I’ve just bought my first cab and I’m trying to find a decent but cheap amp

Likely has analog preamps. A lot of digital consoles have analog preamps in them to try help recreate the warmth of an analog mixer. thanx.

@@IshredGuitar Makes sense also if this product was made after after Midas sold out to Behringer. Both the M32 and the X32 offer analog 32 mic inputs via XLR however the X-32 ones are are a it better quality and that is understandable with the price difference.

Makes sense, from my research it appears that Behringer actually copied Line 6 as Line 6 Pod Pro rack mount used 2nd generation SHARC DSP and came out in 2000 where Behringer uses a Motorola DSP with their LX-1 virtual amplification and booster chip. If you find any sources that say different I would be interested to know, but I got a pretty good memory and this is what I read somewhere but I was unable to corroborate it. @@monmixer
